How Does The Artist ALWAYS Know Where I Am?!

Even if I'm not near a generator and am using Distortion, she can send the crows to me? How does she know where I am? This happens every time I play against her.

Most recently it happened when I was in the shack with Distortion and there was no generator in the shack. Like ######### lol 😆

Perhaps the Artist sends crows to generators or tries to hit a survivor with them (and misses) and the pathing just happens to have the shack behind it for example.

Maybe these are lucky guesses. She can also see the bird's auras for a while when they swarm you.

Hard to tell for sure without seeing the matches.

Assuming its not just bad luck or subtle cheating it could be game sense. Artist can keep track of survivors locations pretty well with her birds. Keep in mind distortion does not help against killer instinct or the birds swarming you so she can still track you. She could have guessed you where in shack based on your last known location.

There is a reason she can see you, she throws her crows at gens to check them. Obviously if she hits you she sees the crows aura for a few seconds, but if she misses you, but the crows go near you, she gets Killer Instict to show her there was a survivor near that location. As such Distortion doesn't work against Artist, unless she is trying for BBQ & Chilli snipes.

What helps me is keep an eye out for her firing crows (you can see their auras), and then use it to guess at her cool downs if she is not in chase. When you suspect she is gonna fire, quickly run away from the gen when you suspect she may check you. It takes her about 5 seconds to summon 3 crows and fire them. It takes 12 seconds to recharge. Accounting for time to aim, that's about 20 seconds until she fires a crow from the last time she fired. If you don't wanna be found, that's the time you want to have left the gen by.

If she is in chase already, hard commit to that gen while you can.

Her crows don’t have a range limit. They can hit you from across any map. Most artists will send them toward areas they know gens are to potentially catch survivors.

Since killers can see gen auras, and since she can send 3 at once, she can send crows at 3 random gens.

If she checks 2 gens by looking at them and 3 more by sending crows, there's a 5/7 chance she finds you on a gen

It'd be good if you'd post screenshots of the perks. Most importantly keep in mind there are more subtle info perks that can't be countered by Distortion, which is important cause they tend be very good on Artist, best one is Discordance.

If you think Artist is using more than one to check on things, rather than offense, then she can't hit you in time for a follow up bird, keep it in mind and don't panic if you get swarmed if you think she used multiple ones. Many newer Artists tend to use multiple ones, and the more experienced one usually use one at a time so they can capitalise on swarms.

Can’t really comment why this is happening without seeing the match itself. Could be really good game sense, because sometimes I get unexpected hits as Artist at times.

I always check her perks and add-ons, the last maybe 3 or 4 matches she has had nothing that would reveal my aura but I'm reading her power now. See the second to last paragraph? "... and reveal nearby Survivors using Killer Instinct."

What counts as "nearby" ? 10 meters, 20? Maybe that's what's happening to me?

The thing is I'll be alone, nowhere near a generator or hooked survivor, and then I get hit with a swarm.

nearby means around 2m miss, not much really, you'd definitely know.
