Wording of 3 Gen mechanic has me worried

I rarely encounter Knight and SM aswell. Perhaps that is why.
But i think i get 3 genned by other survivors at least 1 time for every game season i play.

The problem here is that 3 gen isn't an exploit or a broken mechanic that was left unchanged, it is a valid strategy.
"Carrots" and "sticks" don't really matter because the situation doesn't have to change.

"No, this discussion is pretty old and has been on these forums several times over. You've really only brought more verbiage to the same old point: "Just buff killers more and we'll totally tunnel a bit less, perhaps"."
Well I can see your not open to a differing view on the subject, and since you've stooped to strawmanning in what was otherwise I thought a productive back and forth I see little reason to continue this discussion. Your point of view definitely comes across as heavily sided to one side of the player base and I fear that that mono directional view will be the downfall of this game.

I've said in another thread that I suspect it's also about them trying to avoid it in future. Killers have long requested smaller maps, and it seems BHVR have been listening with recent reworks. A consequence to this is gens are spawning closer to each other. It's possible they're trying to avoid people naturally falling into that playstyle when graced with 3 or 4 gens in very close proximity.

I do think they should have bot killers. They implemented bot survivors so killers can 4k every match even if they play so horrendously that all the players leave. So why not afford survivors the same luxury? Also, camping, tunneling, and 3 gens are just lazy gameplay for killers who are new or do not desire to bother learning how to play and actually employ strategies.

He has his good takes but quite a few seem biased.

Incentives are a reoccurring word that won't work in this game. You can incentivize the average terrible killer to not tunnel but they won't unless it's worth more.
I think the only "strategy" they shouldn't touch is slugging because that comes with consistent risk/repercussions for killers who don't make good plays off of it.
Camping and tunneling is bad gameplay.

Not all 3-gen is exploitative, but ol' chess merchant running out the clock and getting rewarded for it was exploiting the fact that devs didn't think a match could go 60 minutes without the problem being the survivors. Perma-locking a 3-gen from the start of the match and refusing to chase IS exploitative.
Well I can see your not open to a differing view on the subject
Are you?
and since you've stooped to strawmanning
It's not strawmanning. That's the discussion that's been had on these forums many times over and that yours touches on as well.
Your point of view definitely comes across as heavily sided to one side of the player base and I fear that that mono directional view will be the downfall of this game.
You've not levelled a practical argument against it once, though. You've only tried to reframe the discussion away from DBD and into some hypothetical space where you could theoretically be right.

Too much punishments or restrictions on one role with minimal incentives and people will stop playing the role.
People seem to believe that the Killers who rely on “lazy playstyles” will buck up and actually start learning to play good once these playstyles are snuffed out.
But what’s stopping them from just quitting the role entirely? We definitely don’t have an excess of Killer players, otherwise the BP incentives would be on Survivor permanently but this is not the case.
Soo what’s BHVR going to do when Survivor queue times become long again in the near future?
2 -
They didn't quit back when the survivor meta was stacking counter-perks for exactly these playstyles, why would they quit now?
I don't understand why people are fighting tooth and nail to keep protecting these strategies.

I started DBD back in early 2022 and I recall Survivor queue times were really bad (10 min) for the Asia region. 6.1.0 really helped to bring queue times back to an acceptable range and the patch was barely over a year ago.
Devs have not shared any official numbers on the population distribution for each role, so where’s your confidence that there are enough Killers to go around coming from? Especially when the irregular matchmaking was just something that happened recently?

That is the best argument i have heard for it yet, also i wateched a freind play yesterday with scourge hooks. Their placement also needs to be looked into, 3 of them were on one side of the swamp, next to each other. the last one were close to the edge of the map in the top. So if he downed somone at the center he only had a small chance to get them to the top scourge hook. The ones it the side were basicly unusable as they were behind the "bridge" or what ever that structure is.

Agreed. Something must be done for Scourge hooks spawn placements. When all the scourge hooks spawn at the corner of the maps, it is waste of perk slot or slots, which is very frustrating experience.

But the merchant is dead. No reason to ruin a valid strategy for most killers because of one character.

I absolutely hate how the devs have been handling stuff like 3 genning. Can they stop throwing basekit features at survivors to make their matches easier? Basekit BT was necessary. Anti camp is nice but camping was throwing the game against anyone with a brain. 3 genning isnt even an issue. If they just add another basekit feature to remove another strategy im so done.

The character's dead, but the strategy isn't.

Yes, but the character is specifically what made the strategy problematic.
Now that the character is gone, there is no reason to mess with the strategy as it isn't problematic anymore.

i think that they are just gonna make the gens regress slower if they are tooo close

Unfortunately the reality is DBD community doesn't responds to carrots too well... it always inevitably cones down to the stick in the end 😁

No, others started copying it as well.
Not to mention that zoning killers are, as a concept, off the table so long as 3-genning like that is still available.
