Tools of Torment - Worst chapter of 2023. Dull Merchant was terrible killer. Still terrible killer after rework. Her perks are not bad tho. Survivors have meh perks. 1/10

End Transmission - Amazing chapter. Larry has fun and good power. Killers perks are kinda meh. Gabriel got good perks, even after MfT nerfed. 8/10

Nicolas Cage - Very silly chapter. Nicolas Cage is very different survivor. Good voice-act. His perks are so fun. 8/10

Alien - Xeno is fun and strong killer. Ellen is amazing and iconic. Both killer and survivor got good perks. 10/10

Return of the Stranger Things - This chapter was already so loved. I am glad people who missed it now can get. 10/10

Chucky - He was my dream killer, i am happy to have him in game finally. Fun and good designed power, good perks and amazing voice act. 10/10

Skull merchant was a disaster and i wish they would delete her from the game. 0/10

End Transmission is probably my fav chapter this year, really strong killer but weak survivor from both aesthetics and perks. 7/10

Nick cage i could care less about, his perks are uninteresting to me. 2/10

Alien i will always hate playing against, he is just another miserable anti-loop killer that can hit you no matter what you do. 0/10

Return of ST, meh doesnt interest me, same old content and hawkins needs remastered for this new era of dbd. 5/10

Chucky is "alright" kind of overpowered at the moment, but overall i love the idea of having chucky. Buff survivors ability to track him properly in chase and he should be fine. 3/10

    Chucky (7.5)

I don't count Stranger Things since it's not a new chapter.

    I guess I'll rate them

Tools of Torment- In my opinion this is the worst chapter in dead by daylight by far, bland survivors, bad map, and skull merchant. Who is probably the worst thing humanity has ever made, the perks were okay so I'm giving it a 0.5/10

End Transmission- A pretty cool chapter that introduced Sci fi horror into dbd, singularity is awesome albeit hard to play, Gabriel is cool, and the perks are pretty okay when you ignore things like made for this. 7/10

Nicholas Cage- It's Nicholas Cage, need I say more? Jokes aside, a really great survivor only chapter. 9/10

Alien- This dlc brought us a pretty decent map, a pretty cool survivor, and a killer I have a lot of thoughts about. I like xeno, it's awesome, but xeno being horrible on console brings it down a bit for me. 7/10

Return of Stranger Things- This is just an old chapter returning, so I'm not giving it a rating.

Chucky- One of my favorite horror movie killer's, what can I say? Chucky is awesome. An amazing power, fun to play as, and most importantly he swears. You can't have chucky without the one-liners 10/10

    Here’s my ranking:

    1. Nicolas Cage (10/10)
    2. Stranger Things (10/10)
    3. Chucky (9/10)
    4. Naughty Bear (9/10)
    5. Alien (8/10)
    6. End Transmission (7/10)
    7. Tools of Torment (0/10)

Tools of Torment - I like the survivors but Skull Merchant drags this chapter down massively. There are 9 perks in this chapter and most of them are not very good. I actually like the theme of this chapter but the gameplay was a huge disappointment and completely ruined it (and it still does even after Merchant’s rework). 2/10

End Transmission - Singularity is fun overall but has some minor issues. Gabriel is a cool survivor, but he came with MFT which made the game a lot worse for 6 months and I'm taking that into consideration as well. Toba is a decent map though after the changes from PTB. 7/10

Nick Cage - Hilarious chapter that was perfect for Nick Cage, funny voicelines, funny perks, and more. 10/10

Alien - Okay chapter overall, Alien's anti-turret addons are still a little too strong and he was plagued by bugs for a while after release but overall the killer is in an ok spot after the cooldown nerf. Nostromo isn’t a good map balance-wise, though the visuals are nice. 7/10

Chucky - Amazing chapter, Chucky is a great killer and having a killer that tiny presented a lot of unique issues and BHVR found a way to solve all of them. 10/10

    Tools of torment 1/10

god awful killer, bad perks on all sides but skull merchant ruined the entire chapter.

    End Transmission 7/10

decent chapter, singularity is cool but weak, perks are good but Gabriel brought the best perks especially MFT and the new map was alright. Not a bad chapter but nothing spectacular.

    Nicolas Cage 10/10

    It’s Nicolas cage moving on

    Alien 5/10

this might be controversial but I’m sorry Alien BORED the ######### out of me. Such an uninspired power for such a great creature. Perks were alright but we got ultimate weapon. Nostromo is cool but overall this was a very underwhelming licensed chapter.

    Chucky 10/10

The best chapter of the year Chucky was always my favorite and seeing him in his full glory is amazing. Perfect power perfect voice lines good perks everything about him was nailed perfectly.

Tools of Torment- (2/10) This was probably supposed to be a Prey/Predator license that fell through at the 11th hour. Recycled Freddy mori hints that it was a bit rushed. Low skill cap with the power.

End Transmission- (8/10) Really good chapter overall.

    Cage- (9/10) Nicholas Cage.

Xenomorph- (7/10) Giving five points for the art and design alone. I just felt a little underwhelmed by the power. We've been there before with mobility+semi-range M2. The crawling vs upright is cool, but they could have done more with that. There's no reason to ever be upright as the killer.

Chucky- (9/10) I think they nailed this license. Really fun to play with lots of room for skill expression.

    Tools of Torment: Pure Torture/10.

By far the worst killer in the game. She has nothing fun to offer for either side because her gameplay reduces both sides to bots. There is no thinking involved and she is probably in the healthiest state she has ever been. Which is pretty sad, if you think about. If I had the power to remove her, I would.

    End Transmission 6/10.

They botched the release with a killer that needed an immediate hotfix and even now has to be played on a very high level to have some kind of power. The perks were interesting though and one was MfT, which probably pushed the sales quite a bit. The map is nice and I'm glad they adjusted the color saturation from the PTB as it could cause sensory overload.

    Nic Cage: 8/10.

Cool idea and nice and fun perks with surprisingly high utility.

    Alien: 8/10.

Fun killer to play as and in my opinion against. The perks are ok and one is even pretty strong. It also came with the most interesting map we have so far. You can activate traps to slow down the killer and even open a secret room.

    Stranger Things return: 10/10.

    Big W, BHVR.

    Chucky: 10/10.

I'm positively surprised. I wasn't all that excited for Chucky and I didn't test him on the PTB but he is a pretty fun killer. There are clear limitations to his power but also a high chance for skill expression, which can make him quite fearsome. The third person view is interesting and very nice to have. Playing against him is also pretty fun because he keeps you on your toes every second of the chase. The perks aren't great but they do offer some fun synergy.

Overall I would rate this a pretty good year, if it wasn't for Slog Merchant and her TWO terrible reworks.

Tools of Torment: 7/10, I think it was a neat chapter, I kinda dig the vibe of Skull Merchant, the Siblings are neat, and after Skully's rework I don't think there are any glaring flaws. Maybe a couple perks that need buffs.

End Transmission: 4/10, I'm convinced that MFT is the entire reason for this chapter. Hux is a frustrating killer who ends up feeling like a lot of effort for nothing and Gabriel's perks are the only batch worth noting. Toba's not bad I guess but it's far from my favorite map.

Nicolas Cage: 10/10, a surprise that manages to be hilarious and decent at the same time, Dramaturgy has replaced Lithe as my go-to Exhaustion and Plot Twist is both hilarious and surprisingly decent at times.

Alien: 8/10, fun perks on both sides, the tunnels are neat, Nostromo isn't awful, and it's Alien for crying out loud! I do think they played it a bit safe with the power, but it's neat nonetheless and they nailed the aesthetics.

Chucky: 10/10. Honestly a great addition, I don't usually like Dash Killers but even I have to admit that Chucky's a fun time. Only drawback is that him being in the game makes Freddy's state that much worse after hearing all the smack talk lol

Tools of Torment: 2/10, Thalita and Renato are meh, Shelter woods is still a mess and Skull Merchant is a disaster. The rework made playing against her even less interesting. Playing as SM is the most Braindead thing in DBD.

End Transmission 6/10, Singularity is okayish, Toba Landing does not look and play very well, Gabriel brings some interesting perks.

Nicholas Cage 6/10, Opens a new door we never expected for upcoming licenses, perks are fun but overall its just a survivor. nothing super crazy.

Alien 4/10, Disapointing. The Alien is an iconic but frustrating killer, the map is aweful. Overall some interesting perks.

Stranger things return 7/10, Seeing the Demogorgon more often now is a blessing. On the other hand, the map is sub par at best. Still, big carry by Demogorgon.

Chucky: No rating yet. If they ballance him well, he might become be a decent and fun killer.

I'm not the one you're asking but I can answer the question.

Original: The concept behind Skull Merchant was excellent. A killer who is a jack of all trades but a smidge underwhelming at base who then chooses a specialization via addons sounds really really cool to me. The options and flexibility were super appealing to me. Yes, 3 gen Merchant was a problem and needed changed, but outside of that admittedly big problem, she had a lot of potential to be interesting and fun.

Rework: She seems much less of a jack of all trades now because her addon effects got moved behind claw traps and lost exposed... but in exchange she got much stronger stealth and "traps" with the drones directly injuring. I like both stealth killers and trap killers, so I personally am still 100% here for playing SM.

Tools of Torment - Some interesting Survivor Perks which were completely overshadowed by the worst designed Killer DBD ever had the misfortune to release. It's kinda sad when the one true positive from the Chapter was they made a really dull map more palettable. 3/10.

End Transmission: This was a decent entry. MFT caused a lot of debates, but HUX was a unique and interesting Killer with good lore and Gabriel was also an interesting Survivor. The map that came with it was artistically brilliant, if somewhat cluttered. Also, the Mori was a big step up in terms of horror. 8/10.

Nicolas Cage - I have a thing with Paragraphs being disguised as Chapters, and a release of one character is always a Paragraph to me. However, Nicolas Cage was a big win. His voice lines were great and he did a tremendous job acting, as he always does. The Perks were a breathe of fresh air, spitting in the face of meta-cravers with some mad, unique and fun Perks. The way forward. 9/10.

Alien - There was a lot of good in this, especially with Survivors being able to slow a Killer with traps, a map with an interactive defense mechanism aboard the Nostromo, and again pushing the boundaries of Killer design with a new shape and the first Killer to crawl on all fours. This was a great chapter, yet there was something about it which felt subdued. It again pushes boundaries, but it still fell a bit flat for reasons I cannot pinpoint. Still good 7/10.

Child's Play - Again, not a fan of Paragraphs masquerading as Chapters but Chucky again pushed the Killer design barrier further with his extremely short stature and third-person view. This was brilliant in terms of standing out, such as Nicolas Cage with the voicelines and crazy Perks. Speaking of Perks, Chucky also brought "Hex: Two Can Play", which is a bit like a Killer version of a Cage Perk. Fun Killer. Not at all scary, but I feel DBD is broadening out beyond just pure horror and has been for a while. 8/10.

    As for the smaller additions:

Stranger Things: For new plauers, this would be Christmas come early. The perks were already floating about, but to play one of the three characters and explore Hawkins was a lovely surprise. 7/10 (for people who already had it); 9/10 (for newer players)

Naughty Bear: A new type of Skin with a new Mori option and another nutty choice for a Killer which works and has its own personality entirely. Again, embracing the unpredictable and experimental pays off. As a skin, this is 10/10.

Tools of Torment - 4/10. The concept of a tech/hunter killer with a power I have to Metal Gear Solid past is one I really like. Skull Merchant herself, while not so strong on lore, looks pretty cool, her cosmetics are some of the best in the game. The rework I believe has been a considerable improvement, and I maintain she isn't as bad in every single facet as the hive mind tends to insist. That said there is are undeniable problems that created the discourse in the first place, and I still don't think she is quite there. Her power already forces you from loops, I'm not sure she needs haste as well. Survivors are cool, I like Thalita and Renato. Perks are a little on the odd/weaker side, but offer some interesting options and we're bold attempts to add something new.

End Transmission - 8/10. Hux and Gabriel are both excellent characters with outstanding lore. The design and presentation of the characters was very good. The power of Hux though doesn't quite hit as cool as it could, I'd like the machine infection to look a little more nasty and surreal. Gameplay-wise his power is complex and convoluted, and results in a Killer that is very map reliant, and is especially punishing to pick up on console. His slew of buffs are a result of those map related issues and complexity, which bring it down. Killer got some interesting but ultinately not that fascinating perks. For survivor we got 2 great perks... and MFT... which horrifically drags the chapter down. The new MFT though bumps it back up from 7 to 8, the perk is healthy and fun to use now, with interesting build synergies.

Nicholas Cage - 10/10. Straight up hilarious, with the weirdest perks to date, that despite being bat guano crazy, are actually decent, with some very interesting synergies. Very cool chapter... that I don't think could have been better.

Alien - 8/10. Major hype for this license, and the killer has delivered well. Fun to play around if you use all the tools at your disposal, with both strategic placement of turrets, and baits of the tail making this killer very fun to face. To use there is some dodgy walls every now and again, but it has a rewarding skill ceiling and satisfying when you pull off a solid flick. Only downsides are the broken state Xeno was released in that made them very unfair, the controversy over Ultimate Weapon that widens the Killer Roster gap wider.

Child's Play - 9/10. Very well done killer, strong without being ludicrously oppressive, good skill ceiling, while being relatively easy to pick up, amd offering a unique experience. He is mostly fun to play against, though mistakes against him are very easy to make. Perks are interesting, though on the slightly weaker side, with exception of Friend's to the End. Good to see obsession perks still getting some thought behind them.

End transmission 10/10 - gave me my main main killer, couldn't care less about the rest

Alien 10/10 - gave me my main killer & fav horror movie monster

Chucky - 7/10 - nice addition, but i don't really care, most points for execution, though the killer isn't really fun to me

Stranger things - 10/10 - more skins plz and demo buff (and zoning fix)

Nic cage - 10/10 - fun perks, fun survivors, W

Tools of Torment - 2/10 and both points are for survivors only because they're kinda cool, the rest, perks included is a big L.

-Shelter Woods got a fantastic rework.

-The Lyra twins are welcome new survivors and I can see them getting great cosmetics in the future.

-The perks are mostly a miss here but Blood Rush is interesting and Game Afoot might do something in the future it's just waiting for the right killer or perk to combo it with.

-Skull Merchant was interesting before albeit problematic but now she's basically a trap killer but focused on chase rather than gen control area denial and it's a ton of fun and very unique.

Skull Merchant just outweighs both Lyras and decent Shelter Woods rework. 7+4-10

    End Transmission - 1/10

Singularity, the most exhausting/frustrating killer to play as. broken cash cow perk, MFT.

    Nic Cage - 6/10

many voice lines but only who plays him can hear it which is disappointing. expensive DLC price.

    Alien - 3/10

not Sigourney Weaver Ripley. short tail attack cooldown bug from release (which led to nerf). Xeno's tail attack isn't something interesting. expensive DLC price.

    Chucky - 8/10

first 3rd person pov. finally acceptable DLC price. lots of voice lines from original voice actor/actress. add-ons include many references from movies.

Tools of Torment - 5/10 I didn't hate pre-work Skull Merchant as much as most people but I rather like where she is now. The twin survivors look good but I didn't care for their perks. Overall this chapter falls somewhere in the middle for me.

End Transmission - 7/10 I like singularity but I find him difficult to play on console. I wish when you switched to a camera, if there is a survivor in view it should be centered on them. It's just too hard with a controller to focus on survivors fast enough. But I digress. Unique and interesting killer (if difficult to control) and decent survivor.

Nic Cage - 10/10 It will forever make me laugh that Nic Cage is in DBD. They nailed it with the perks too. Not competitive but strange and fun which is perfect for Nic Cage.

Alien - 8/10. Great chapter overall. The alien tunnels were an unexpected twist. Powerful and interesting killer. Ripley is less interesting to me. I don't particularly care for her appearance or perks.

Chucky - 10/10. Absolutely nailed this killer which is amazing considering what they were working with here. I will freely admit that I'm one of the people that didn't see how this killer could be brought into the game but this is one of those times where I'm super happy to be wrong. Using his soul to carry survivors was pure genius. His size (3rd person perspective), animations, voice work, power... all perfect. I can't praise the devs enough for this chapter.

Tools of Torment 8/10 - This killer is what got me back into DBD this year. The aesthetic of a killer with drones was right up my alley. I wanted to play her sooner but since I knew a rework was coming I waited. I was pleasantly surprised when I found that she wasn't completely destroyed after the rework and I enjoy her stealth and zoning playstyle. The perks are meh on their own but might combo well in the future.

End Transmission 5/10 - This killer is balls to play. I understand that some people want to play 5D chess in this game and I support having a killer for them but damn it's balls to play lol. I don't use any perks from this chapter so I cant comment on their effectiveness.

Nic Cage 10/10 - I don't play survivor other than doing tomes but I'm down for any character with voice lines and the perks just fit him really well.

Alien 6/10 - I enjoy the Alien franchise but I've never been gaga over it. That being said I love the Ripley character and I feel a disservice was done not getting Sigourney Weaver involved for her likeness and voice lines. The alien itself feels like it's not great/not terrible. Some of the perks are pretty decent. I know entire rain clouds have formed over UW but I don't use it really other than to meme around.

Chucky 10/10 - This chapter is a gold standard for how to treat a beloved franchise. The killer is great, the perks are fun and the voice lines are fantastic. Although I don't play Tiffany much, I made sure to buy the skin the day it came out to show my support for the chapter.

Tools of Torment is at the bottom for me, I like Skull Merchant a hell of a lot more then I used it, but her old design still leaves a very vile taste in my mouth, 4/10

End Transmission dropped on my Birthday and Singularity feels like he was made specifically for me to the point where I’m still not sure if BHVR were tracking my every move or not before its release, 10/10

Nicolas Cage, I don’t play him but Dramaturgy’s become my favourite perk and going for his adept led to the greatest match I have ever played, 9/10

Alien, I like Xenomorph, I like Nostromo Wreckage, I have a unhealthy infatuation with the Xeno-Queen skin, 10/10

Stranger Things returning, 10/10, I do not feel the need to elaborate further

Chucky, don’t care for Childs Play as a franchise, don’t care that much about Chucky as a killer, but getting called a dipshit by a angry redheaded midget mid chase is pretty funny, 7/10

I came here to rate Tools of Torment at a solid minus -999999

Other than that I've enjoyed some chapters like Chucky, Alien and Stranger Things coming back.
