This game is on its last legs
And I mean not the playerbase, I mean the optimization of dbd. It's literally crashing, lagging, bugging, loading, errors, and everything else that negatively affects this game. I don't get how this game is holding on. Their in-game store is 100% problem free though.

What platform do you play on?

On PC it's in the best state in over 2 1/2 years, I'd say. I'm not sure how it is on console, though.

Fix your mess, Devs!

I don't know what you're talking about cause that isn't my experience on PC.
I can't even remember the last time my client crashed. Its been very stable for me.
2 -
I'm experiencing issues on my PC even though I bought a completely new one with the latest hardware a few months ago.
12 -
Ok that's weird. I'm playing on a PC with pretty mediocre hardware and it's better than ever for me. No lags and no crashes.
Might be a software issue? Is it possible you have something else running that might interfere?
1 -
If you're on PC, there's something else going on, 'cause I can't recall the last time my FPS ever fell below 55 on my gaming laptop.
3 -
Even on my trash gaming laptop the game still runs at 60 fps, idk how it is on console tho probably terrible

I'm on PS5 and haven't had any problems with crashes. The only time I noticed any issues was when I'd leave DBD running in the background to watch YouTube and such. If I hopped back over hours later and see it's still on the bloodweb screen or something, I would risk a timed out message randomly popping up. I started resetting my game before getting into matches in those situations and haven't seen that message pop up ever since.

Switch surprisingly is significantly better with the FSR graphics option.

xbox Series has a quick resume feature where you can go right back into the client if you closed it and Iâve noticed if you try to play the game if you do this itâs extremely laggy

Wasn't there a huge thread somewhere about optimizations? I think the developers got the message but they remain silent?
2 -
They need to fix the lobby issue with SWF because every 2/5 matches, one of us does not "return" to the lobby and we have to wait for them to restart their game.
Not sure if this is a console-exclusive issue but it sure is annoying.

There is. Longest thread ever.

Since the 7.4.1 patch notes, I am experiencing a great deal of lag that is not related to my connection speed.I hope BhVR doesn't go into the New Year's Holiday organization.

yep, my freind was like "did they fix dbd yet" and i was like not sure what you mean im not having any issues, next time i boot up the game it freezes and i had to restart my whole pc, next time after that game lagged out at exit gates after cheesing a blight all match. closed game havent booted it back up, somebody let me know when bhvr fixes their game before trying to make another one.

Years ago I used to play an online game decades ago that after starting Windows, the game couldn't be played AT ALL until your computer had been running for one hour. I wasn't the only one with this issue. The developers couldn't figure out the problem. All the nasty comments insulting the developers started. Pretty much everything said in this thread. Then, one of us figured out what the problem was. Every single person with this issue was playing on a Dell PC running Windows 95. It seems that in the Dell OEM version of Windows 95, the ports necessary for that game were blocked for one hour after Windows starts. Why? No clue. But it was. It was a weird choice that Dell chose to put in their version of Windows 95.
My reason for telling this story is that just because you have issues, just because a lot of players have issues, that doesn't mean it's a problem with the game or anything they have control over.

I play on PS5 and have very rarely had issues

Has the developers ever responded or took action in regards of the situation?

I play on a pretty darn old PC and DBD is one of the few games I rarely have any issues with.
Over the past few days maybe I've had a little more lag or bad ping than usual but it's pretty minor.

@Pulsar would you care to respond to this question? It is your thread.
My own answer would be precious precious little came of it.

The issues of the first Resident Evil Chapter were, eventually, remedied in most ways.
However, performance continues to suffer as a whole and the promise of 60 FPS seems to be dead. There have been no substantial updates to it and the new graphics mode has not made a difference.

I have 25 upvotes and I look at all these comments saying they got no issues whatsoever. Are they Behaviour behind these accounts?

You got me. Now hand over your email password so I can "fix" these things and also add 5000 auric cells as compensation. ð

The optimization has gotten so bad I've been forced to play on low graphics settings on my high end pc >.>
DBD and only DBD would shut off my monitor and game mid match, sometimes when in lobby, or whenever. No other game does this. I can run Anthem all day with no problems, RE4, and other very graphic heavy demanding games.
I wish the optimization would be addressed soon. It started I think when Skull Merchant came out.

Why does it happen and why aren't they taking any action? If your post is so big then why aren't they doing anything about it? It feels so hopeless to communicate with the devs for real. It's like screaming into the void it does nothing.
3 -
I have none of the issues you describe.
Im playing on PC.

It supposedly happens due to a CPU bottleneck.
My own, admittedly limited, view is that the game really wasn't built to be what it is now. They've had coding issues in the past, I suspect this is why we see the exact same bugs cyclically.
Due to this, most machines just have to brute force the game. Higher powered PC's and the new gen consoles are okay for now, but older PC's and consoles suffer.
As for why they don't do anything, they either can't or don't want to, meaning they don't see the benefits

Borrow a friend's PS4 or whatever and find out for yourself. Pick up a Switch if you're feeling extra cheeky! ðĪŠ

I haven't played the Switch version in over a year since it used to be so bad. I need to try it again now that there are new graphics options. I recently got a Steam Deck OLED. Surprisingly, the game gets up to 90 fps and looks incredibly smooth for me while playing killer on it without FSR enabled even. I'm not sure how DBD is so well optimized for it given all the problems on other platforms.

Im good on PC, i do have a PS4 but it have been collecting dust for years, but thx 4 the suggestion.

Awwwww don't you want to see what all the commotion is about? Y'all don't really need those 60 frames either. And playing killer on a controller is great fun! Join ussssssssss! ð

I have about 800-900 hours as killer with controller, (i play mostly survivor now tho) due to a mussle dmg im forced to play dbd with one, so i know the fun. <3

It's based on how the game was originally coded, using Blueprints I believe. There is no doubt they ever dreamed their game would take off like it did, and they continue to work with and build upon that, errr somewhat shaky foundation. People joke that's is all spaghetti, but in seriousness it's apparently very unwieldy and prone to bottlenecking resources.
As for optimization, usually that is farmed out to specialty companies that do such things all day, however for DBD they chose to do that in-house themselves. The older consoles (love you Switch cousins ð) and lower-end PC's feel these issues the most, but it effects us all.
There's that ginormous thread I posted above to see more.

It is easy to forget what this game used to be. I remember running STBFL and Franklin's demise and sloppy butcher at the same time. The whole game glitched everytime I hit a survivor because setting of 3 perks in 1 hit was too much. There were constant glitches like nemesis thumping noise being map wide all game and getting glitched out on a pickup. It isn't perfect but it is so much better than it used to be.
1 -
I had that happen on PC a lot, but everytime a console player is in our group. So maybe it is a console thing.
I want to add that I noticed a ton of little bugs happening while in match on PC and the lags are getting worse. Also the game sometimes says I have a high ping, but that is not true for every other server I am trying to reach at the same time. It got a little better after the last patch, but there are still things happening in matches that are unbelievable.
1 -
The prior gen machines still suffer, however the current game is not horrible. Still lots of room for improvement though.
What really needs to be done is a fresh recoding from scratch, but I doubt that'll ever happen. Too bad too, that would give them opportunities to add in things like a match replay system.

No joke. I already have.
