bhvr and the survivor community are actually promoting tunneling
think about it. bhvr is adding more and more stuff that just PROMOTES THE SURVIVOR TO GET UNHOOKED INFRONT OF THE KILLER. basekit bt made it so you dont have to worry about the killer moving out of the area before unhooking, and even then the survivor almost always just tries to get infront of the killer with bt. removing hook grabs made it so the survivors can run up and guarantee the unhook. not to mention theres now anti face camp. bhvr is adding things that just promote the survivor unhooking near the killer. that plus alot of killers now have a ridiculous amount of safe guards, gens fly, more and more survivors are becoming toxic etc. these are the reasons tunneling have dramatically increased. killers are doing everything possible to win because survivors are making it feel as bad as possible to loose or the killer youre playing as feels so bad to play.

I'm gonna agree with the killers feel bad to play. The m1 killers are a laughing stock play toy at this point. Gens go so fast it's laughable when playing one these killers lmao

I'll start by saying that its possible any change to the game has unintended consequences.
However, we also had an era where killers had multiple powerful gen slowdown perks and we still had tunneling.
basekit bt made it so you dont have to worry about the killer moving out of the area before unhooking, and even then the survivor almost always just tries to get infront of the killer with bt.
removing hook grabs made it so the survivors can run up and guarantee the unhook.
Almost always seems an exaggeration and if survivors are unhooking right in front of the killer, knocking them back down makes perfect sense. But I rarely sees such rushed play were the survivors just unhook immediately, and usually when they do they have a plan.
not to mention theres now anti face camp.
I don't see the connection unless you mean that now killers have to tunnel out a target instead of just standing in front of their hook, which is not perfect but an improvement.
survivors are becoming toxic etc. these are the reasons tunneling have dramatically increased.
Both of those seem about the same.

exactly. basically their main form of pressure is getting someone out as fast as possible which means tunneling. if bhvr wants to improve the tunneling situation they can start by making future killers with better design. i would say completely rework the m1 killers but thatll need a miracle with bhvr

there will always be tunneling. but these changes just increases it ALOT. with the gen kick meta there was tunneling, yes. however more killers actually took different chases and patrolled gens during it since gens werent going by as quick compared to now. also tunneling isnt toxic. it is just the most effective strategy

Yeah, they need to fix this asap.
killers have been proxing hooks all day, even the good killers - i do understand why the slow moving might need to do it, but this is getting out of hand.
Hooks need a rework on how they work.

But that isn´t what the survivors want. Before BBQ was nerfed, i argued that it would increase camping. Because there was no reward for killers to go for a different target. Most responses i got were "why should i get punished by the mistakes of my teammates?!"
Now we got FTTE and survivors already complain about why they get punished for the mistakes of other survivors. When its clearly an attempt of the devs to give killers an incentive to leave the hook. Yet, survivors don´t like it. Even when the timer of the exposed is quite short and most of the time doesn´t even give the killer his down.
As long as survivors complain equally about the killer, when he is camping as when he is not camping. There is no solution. Because lets face it. If the killer gets salt no matter how he plays, he´ll end up playing in the worst possible way. Since there is no difference in the responses.
A couple weeks ago, i had a non camping Bubba. After the match i thanked him and he was surprised. Even more, my teammates left the usual comments like "trash killer, ggez, etc". When he actually played whats considered playing by the "survivors rule book for killers".

I agree, im a former killer main with about 800-900 hours as killer, so i know too well how survivors treat killers. Im still advocating a lot for killers on this forum, even when im a survivor main now.
Just had a really fun game against a demo, he even dropped a chase and caught me because i snowballed him mid chase, lol.

Same. I mainly play survivor now, even though i defend killers most of the time.

Changes such as basekit Borrow Time, the removal of hook grabs or the anti-facecamp system have affected the pressure that the killer can exert, but killers got nothing in return.
Supposedly the killrate was around the desired numbers, but the killers were already using all those dirty tactics to reach those numbers. If you forcibly eliminate these tactics and do nothing to balance the killrate, it's logical that the killers respond with the only thing they have left, because everyone wants to win. And it only looks like it's going to get worse.

Tunneling has always existed regardless of the basekit BT, the useless AFC and everything else.
Through the years killers have been received considerable tweaks and if you feel you need to desperately tunnel to win every game, that's on you I guess.
In addition and in conclusion, unless you're permanently stuck in High MMR for some appparent reason, M1 killers do quite well actually.

you say "promote unhooking near the killer", I say "allow unhooking even if near the killer is the only type of unhook that is possible"

Now, thats a stretch.
There is not really a difference in the number of people who farm you off the hook when the Killer is nearby. The difference is just that now you are not at their mercy that they actually have BT.
Furthermore,e nowadays nobody uses DS, because it got nerfed into oblivion. Back then, DS was used on many Survivors. And Killers knew this and tunneled less.
But since there is not any effective Anti-Tunnel measurement anymore (even DS was barely there and it was better to just push through DS, especially with a strong Killer), tunneling is obviously done even more.

m1 killers are slowly being replaced by M2 overkitted chapters

If someone is unhooking in your face you get a guranteed down on the guy who unhooked, they do not just get it for free.

And those who are just trying to get by in the game have to suffer the consequences of these killers. I'm not that good at this game and am just trying to have fun, but I keep getting tunneled by toxic killers.
Besides, many killers now know just how far to stand outside of the meter so you won't even get a chance to unhook or they'll just wait for you to get unhooked to attack. Especially those with projectiles. Billy, Bubba, Ghostface, and Mikey don't even care about the meter because they can just hit you as soon as you unhook or get unhooked. So it seems more killer sided to me.
But I guess it's a moot point as everyone is just going to blast everyone else on why they think the other side is unfair. And I can't wait to hear the "get better" comments that are going to be thrown my way. Just know that I think it's hard to get better when you're being tunneled out and camped in 75% of the time. Just sayin.
