Hatch offerings make no sense for survivor

Why bring a hatch offering if your not bringing a key because about 95% of the time the killer will find hatch and just close and congrats you now can't open hatch because you never brought a key. In the end hatch offerings make no sense because it's mostly an easy way for the killer to get a 4k since they know where hatch will spawn.

Because the killer will be at the hatch while your sitting at a door with wake up and sole survivor. Rng dependent, but knowing where the killer is going lets you pick the farthest door to open quickly. Or mindgame the killer and do something clever.

Because you will wait around the hatch while the second to last survivor dies. You escape before the killer even has the chance to close it.

To be fair, it's not unfathomable to think that you might be able to beat the killer to the hatch. If it's spawning, that means the killer's been hooking the last survivor (or hitting them with a mori), giving you a chance to start running towards where you know the hatch is going to spawn. Plus, y'know, you can bring a key too.

They're not a guarantee by any metric, but they do have a use. There are much worse offerings for survivor- the shrouds in particular are completely backwards for both roles, for example.

I often wondered this. Why tell the killer exactly where to find hatch and your teammates that you're going to ditch them the instant things get rough? I make a point of killing anyone who brings a hatch offering if I can, because they're usually the kind of Survivor that hides and does nothing else for the rest of the trail whenever things start to go south.

I usually spend a bit of time searching main / shack or near the gates if I see the other player is still trying to complete gens.

And how do you know who exactly brought the offering? They might just play like normal until the hatch opens.

Not telling the killer would mean, that you basically guarantee an escape, if the killer doesn't slug for the 4k.

To be fair I assume quite a lot of the times its probably someone trying to do one of those stupid escape through the hatch challenges in the tomes.

Who wants to play multiple games hoping to be the last alive or worse still waiting for your teammates to actually leave 🙄 & then have to randomly run around trying to find the hatch.

Personally i'd use bill's perk over an offering but again if you get those teammates who will hang in the exit for no reason odds are time will be very short & knowing exactly where it is could get your challenge done.

Also from my experience a lot of players on both sides seem to pay very little attention to the offering screen (me included half the time) so maybe they also assume nobody else is actually going to know 🤷🏻‍♂️

You can only tell for sure if all 5 players bring an offering. Otherwise, the one that brought the hatch offering is the one that you won't find on a gen when there are only two players left. But I guess both players could have the same idea and hide by the gates or hatch spawn location, and then you won't know who brought it. In that case, I'll might just kill both if I'm feeling mean, just to be certain.

If I see a hatch offering in play in my Survivor games, I don't go anywhere near the spawn location if I can avoid it. Because I assume that's where the Killer will probably go to look first and then it's a 50/50 if they come to my gate or not.

You might be right. But why not bring the Bill or Mikaela perk instead? That's what I do too when I have a hatch challenge, because at least then you know you're not giving the Killer a potential advantage to get to it first.

Technically the killer's offering doesn't matter since it's in a separate spot. I tend to use this information to go easy on survivors who bring BPS, or as extra motivation to kill a survivor if I see a hatch or map offering.

This. If you're healthy and the killer shows up, you can afford to take a hit and escape via hatch while their attack is on cooldown.

To use as bait so there is a higher chance of opening a gate. Its 50/50 on who gets to hatch first, but knowing which gate will be closer to the killer/hatch allows for some strategy.
