Blight, Wesker, Oni exploits
Is there any update on if or when exploits on these killers will be fixed? For example hug tech on blight and wesker and being able to do 180s on Oni even though the cap is 90 degrees? I know the devs wanted to get rid of hug tech a while ago but haven’t heard anything since then.

I wouldn’t call using an exploit skill expression but ok

someone got rolled by a god wesker I see

No I just enjoy consistency. Less exploits the better. That goes for survivor too but don’t think there are any since locker exploit got fixed

Devs have said they consider Blight's hug tech a bug and that it will eventually get fixed.
I do not believe the Wesker hug tech or Oni 180 flick have been officially acknowledged.
Personally, I think Wesker's hug tech is fine, but Oni's 180 is pretty stupid when his attack hitbox already moves with you during the ground slam (good example in tofu's video on Oni 180 flick) allowing for generous hits.

It's so funny viewing dbd players from the outside. Having 0 sense of anything outside their little bubble.
All 3 of their techs are fine.

Personally I think Hug-Techs are fine and more fun for both sides. It's a different way of Skill Expression in that matter. But Onis 180° should get fixed - it has nothing to do with "Skill Expression" you simply throw your weapon around a corner.
And you are? If not even a "Dead by Daylight Player" why bother voicing your opinion just to belittle players. 💀

Thanks for the info!

it's sad how people rely on bugs to win or think that exploiting bugs is a genuine skill expression at the game. they aren't winning the game by the rules devs set, they're actively breaking them because they can't win fairly.
you aren't good at the game, you are good at cheating at the game. gold star for you, you are a joke.

Exactly. On oni's wiki page it is literally stated that he isn't supposed to turn further than 90°, but apparently exploiting a bug to circumvent this limitation is "skill expression".
I guess I should have made the "skill" argument when the invisible dredge bug was a thing. It was "skill expression" on the dredge's part to get it to activate and the survivors could easily counter it by listening to ambient noise. So if they complained about it, it was just a "skill issue" and they simply needed to "git gud".

I am a dead by daylight player but my experience in pvp games is far far more expansive than most dbd players, I also don't hold unreasonable biases like dbd players do on average which is exclusive to the nature of a game like dbd. The only things I truly discuss about are blight(whom most people don't understand to a valid degree) and leaving the game freely.
Equal interactivity through knowledge is the most ideal form of a pvp game, all 3 of these techs are a prime example of it, especially in dbd where interactivity on both sides at the same time is somehow a rarity.
People need to get it through their skulls that just because devs didn't entirely mean for a mechanic to exist in their game doesn't it doesn't deserve it's place.
Oni's 180 for example is at worst a 50/50 but not entirely, it can be predicted and has a few spots you can choose to be in when you think he is going for it. The simple fact of knowing the oni is capable of performing a 180 unlocks both parties to perform to a higher degree. Once the survivor reciprocates counter play to the oni playing on a higher level, more mind games ensue. Even though I haven't played oni in a decent amount of time now I know that a 180 literally blinds you and is a full commitment once inputted.
You call it belittlement but it's just hard to watch people make these posts like "exploit" is a valid argument for anything. No discussion, just a statement and a shutdown of argument. Making a statement and shutting down discussion is akin to not posting at all. Far worse than making a pompous statement justifiably as I did.

^ Closed minded individual who has no plans to improve their current skill level.
To actually compare these "techs" to cheating is quite wild.

That's a fair statement and I can agree with most points. I just think though that it helps no one if someone enters the conversation with this kind of wording that gives entitlement.
About Oni: Personally I don't think it has its place and imo Oni is fine with 90° and not with unintentioned 180°. Reasoning for that is how little time survivors have to react to oni, who one-hits them while being able to hit through nearly any corner. I don't see the 50/50 potential when most he has to do is fake one way and instantly changing direction and then through his weapon around the corner. Like I said, there is barely any reaction for survivors. And personally I don't see the skill in simply using a beneficial bug to your advantage. But you can freely disagree.
About Wesker and Blight we are on the same page. I don't see the harm of hug-techs. It's skill-expression and has its pros and conts.

You'll need to show where these were called exploits by the Devs.

If hug tech Blight is to stay, his addons need to go. Speed shouldn't stack, Alc Ring deleted, C33 deleted etc etc
Wesker's hug is much less potent. I don't see it as an issue. Skinny Bert is more useful.
Oni's 180's are a little rough.
3 -
Well his add-ons are going, we just need to wait a few more weeks (and hopefully we won't be disappointed). I personally don't really have any problem with blights techs otherwise
Oni's flick imho should be fixed just got consistency, since they did it with Chucky

boy, did I hit a nerve here.
im a p100 singularity with 100% winrate and nearly 100% killrate in 200 consecutive games, what other cool story will you tell me? im actually working for my wins instead of relying on exploits to get an unfair advantage.
you're mad because I rightfully called the likes of you out. You are not skilled at this game, you are skilled at abusing its bugs and therefore cheating. If you disagree - come to any decent poker table and try to cheat there and say how it is part of the game and it takes skill.
If you were actually good, you wouldn't need to resort to these exploits, because you could win regardless.
1 -
justifying exploits by "it's 50/50, therefore okay, trust me" logic is peak dbd forums for me.
the objective truth is that the techs in questions provide these characters with unintended opportunities for a hit which were not considered during the designing and/or balancing of these characters. devs capped Oni's flick by 90 degrees for a reason, just like they intended blight to bounce off stuff instead of sliding off it, etc.
We can all act like these techs give characters more depth and skill expression and other cool buzzwords, but the truth is that these characters aren't designed with such abilities in mind and the only reason that stuff is still in the game is because devs don't have the ability to fix these bugs because that's just how bad their code is.
1 -
just because you want to play the game on hard mode doesn't make you any better than others getting wins.
1 -
it actually does because i dont rely on exploits to win
1 -
I don't understand what you're trying to say here? This is not a PvE game, there's players on both sides, so cheesing your way to an easy victory definitely is something to look down on, regardless of the side you're playing
0 -
What makes you think they rely on these “exploits” to win? Blight’s hug tech can only be used on select tiles. I’ve only ever seen maybe 1 or 2 wesker players that could successfully pull off his “hug tech”, which is only being called an exploit by YOU.
Also… win streaks mean absolutely nothing. They do not validate you in any way.

cope
2 -
Fantastic response skills. Lmao
Guess I shouldn’t expect much more.
4 -
why should i respond with anything else? cope your bugs are meaningful skill expression and pray they don't get patched one day.
2 -
Well, are they going to fix the bug that allow survivors to wall hug, effectively reducing their collision box size and going faster than they should around loops?
Because I'm going to bet that the Wesker and Blight "exploits" have also a lot to do with how the collision system works and they can not fix one without fixing the other.
0 -
So I guess the locker exploit was a skill issue for killers?
The double standards are real.
2 -
I just want to mention that the exploit with Oni isn't exactly "fixable" since that is a thing being caused by an individual's computer settings and such rather than a part of the game and BHVR can't just go "Hey, we're gonna fix your computer settings to make the game more fair for survivors."
