Why is Windows of Opportunity (WoO) so popular?
Why is this Survivor perk so popular? This isn't a 'Us vs. Them' post. This isn't a post about balance. I'm asking a genuine question since you guys have more experience in this game than I do.

Is it really that difficult to figure out? It tells you where pallets are still up. So, you know where to go and loop without suddenly realizing that the pallet is already gone and you are going on the hook now.

It’s a godsend for soloQ perk that lets you know what resources are still available. Also great for new players that don’t know the maps/tiles well.

Like @skylerbound said, it helps with knowing where and if ressources are left. Besides that, with the latest pallet spawn changes + newer maps using completely new tiles it's such a helpful perk. BHVR completely introduced new tils and I am not a fan of it - they don't make sense in my eyes so WoO helps with all the new confusion.

Because every other survivor perk is trash level in usability.

I don't think going down because of pallet RNG is particularly satisfying (or even a good game mechanic), so I like to make informed decisions about my pathing. Plus I don't know what pallets my team has used.

I dont think average survivors can catch up to remember all these changes. Killers dont have to remember the change.

I use it for two reasons
- I have no idea which pallets my solo teammates have dropped
- Most of the perks I used to use were gutted and aren't worth using anymore. I didn't even use windows until fairly recently.
Believe it or not after 4000 hours I know the layout of every map. No amount of knowing map layouts will tell me which pallets are still up. Dying because I have no way to know doesn't feel good.

It's a perk that you know won't wind up just being a wasted perk slot. Lots of popular survivor perks have been nerfed over the past 18 months to be situational, so it's not surprising that a perk - albeit an older one - that gives value each game has risen to top spot. Its best value is in knowing which pallets have been used by your team mates, so it's popular among solo players who make up majority of the survivor base.

It's a guaranteed way to tell where safety is. This is beneficial to all survivor players regardless of skill level, hours played, or overall map knowledge. It frees up the brain to make other judgments. I don't even bother playing survivor without Deja Vu + WoO because they just make the same so easy.

Let’s you shut your brain off and still do okay in a chase. No need to worry about dead zones or where is safe to run. Gives you value throughout the entire game.
Also good for learning new maps.

It automates chases, which is very convenient. You no longer need to put any thought in how you run the map because WoO does it for you.

A lot of people play soloq. Without woo, you have absolutely no idea what pallets were already used by your teammates. Even if you know tile and pallets spawn logic, you simply can't know that meg already dropped every pallet in a certain area until you've been there to check. So if you get chased there, you are a free down because you didn't use your sixth sense to know that there were no pallets left.

The 3 main reasons why people use WoO:
- To learn map layout and structures
- To know about used and unused recourses on the map
- To automate survivor chase gameplay (also known as "running to yellow")

Fundamentally the question is this:
Is running to a tile and finding out your teammate already dropped the pallet a fundamental normal part of the game? Or is it unfair?
Showing which pallets are still up makes the perk useful. Showing which pallets aren’t up and allowing you to adjust accordingly is why the perk is strong. Yes; at some point most pallets will be gone so then the perk is basically useless. But before then it’s a very strong perk and anyone saying it isn’t is either being deliberately misleading or is ignorant.
