I wish skull merchant was actually a drone killer

What i mean is. You place a drone, you control it, you see through it, it goes faster than your killer so you can scout for survivors. Then make it so it you scan survivors to reveal and or expose them.

As survivor maybe add a feature where you can throw rocks at the drone to counter it.

I just think skull merchant since her release has been really dull. Her power boils down to, you place drones on the map that become nightmare zones. Survivors that enter them gain disadvantages and the killer at the same time gets advantages.

I just don't see how this possibly full fills the fantasy of being a killer with a drone.

The appeal of drones is that you control them. They move, they fly. They can follow things or people. They can be drones that attack, scout and or straight up explode.

Skull merchants drones. They are completely automatic and stationary.

It's very underwhelming for a playable character.

Based on killers like singularity and twins i feel it's something that should be possible.

If it's isn't then i think they should have never bothered making them "drones" in the first place because i have always found this misleading. On the PTB i was trying to figure out how to control them and i was really disappointed when i learned when that's not possible at all.

Such an nice idea, i like it! It might be a little bit like Singularity, but since the drones would not be stationary and could actually effect survivors, its a good enough concept i would be interested in seeing in the game.

If she had control of her drones, I would like to have them do these things:

When controlled, you can manually mark and clawtrap survivors. Works like Singularity's camera, but can be applied while moving so survivors need to hug walls tight around corners to avoid it. Clawtraps inflict damage and give SM haste boost to catch up to their location. Survivors cannot interact with a drone being controlled as it will be in the above ground state.

When not in control, it throws down it's usual scan range and automatically applies clawtraps to survivors as a regular drone does right now, without giving SM the haste boost. Addons could also effect it's scan range and how it scans. For example, base drones have the full circular rotation, while say an addon makes it stare in one direction and scan from forward to back repeatedly, could be used to watch a hallway, killer shack, or other notable locations. Or another addon that increases the range of the idle scan but only on each side of the drone from where it's facing. When a drone is disabled, SM can manually fix it from a range with a small delay or quickly up close. Give SM 2 drones they can operate or possibly 3 with an addon.

That said, I am not a developer. I don't know how difficult it would be to do so, but comparing it to something like the bipods from Singularity, you'd just need to be able to manually move them which does come with other issues you'd probably need to patch. The other issue is how complicated something like this would be for players to understand, considering BHVR doesn't tend to like complicated power design. I don't believe that train of thought myself, it'd be more expressive for her kit and be more rewarding to know where to move drones and how to best utilize them if you can actively move them. I could imagine some really interesting addons for something like this.

    Oh also rework her lore.

Add Crypto from Apex Legends to Dead By Daylight as the killer.

that sounds really interesting, just like sova from valorant. it scans survivors and applies status effects like hindered and or exposed or just damages them. there can be stone piles survivors can gather stones from and throw at the drone like snowballs. it could be high effort low reward, but i'd play her for sure sounds so much fun for both sides.

Sounds like Twins, except where Victor can't attack.

twins, but victor is like ghostface. should be strong to be worth the effort.

I imagine this is what they tried to go for but they got too lazy so they decided to turn her drones into Knight 2.0. I mean, her chase music is literally a 4 second loop, she didn't even get voice lines despite the Lyra siblings having voice lines, and her power is nothing more than right clicking to create evil area. No aiming, no pathing, nothing. She has little to no skill floor nor ceiling other than drone placement which is still very basic. The Tool of Torment chapter was just flat-out rushed on the killer side despite having cool survivors and decent perks for both sides.

I really hope they try something experimental with her drones like being able to shoot from it to apply a claw trap while controlling it as it flies around the map, it would be super fun.

The stalking part maybe, but having to approach an alerted survivor that you're after them is kinda like those Ghostfaces that full stalk from far away.

there is that part too. would be hard to balance but i really don't think even if it becomes overwhelming, it wouldn't be as miserable to face as any of her versions we've seen.

I'm not saying it would be overwhelming, but rather the opposite. There's a reason people try to 99 with Ghostface rather than full stalk from a distance. You wanna use his Stealth to get close before alerting your target. This... alerts your target while your at a distance.

no what i meant was, even if they made her overwhelming by making the numbers high or something else, it wouldn't be as miserable to face.
