Legion - Deranged Pursuit Completed

When I bought the Darkness Among US dlc, I read a few forum posts and watched a few videos about how to complete this achievement. Because of the mechanics involved to score a point towards the achievement, it appeared the only way to get this was to ask survivors in your lobby if they would help you farm it. I don't like to complete achievements that way so I had decided I wasn't going to complete it.

Yesterday I got a little bored and decided to give it a shot. I was able to complete this in 17 consecutive games and I didn't need to message a single survivor to ask if they would help me farm it.

My strategy was as follows:

1) Find a survivor and apply deep wounds.

2) Hit survivor with Feral Frenzy active until they are one hit.

3) Keep survivor in chase to keep deep wounds applied until they run by another survivor.

4) Hit second survivor with Feral Frenzy active to activate Killer Instinct.

5) Chase down first survivor and hit with Killer Instinct active.

Step 3 is the key. I think a lot of people have difficulty with this achievement because they are trying to play a regular match, meaning they are wanting to down and hook survivors quickly and go for the win. Thus they are relying on chance that the survivor they have deep wounds on will run by another survivor before they catch back up to them.

Since I was only concerned about the achievement, I would chase the survivor for as long a necessary. If I caught up to them, I would keep them in chase and let them continue to loop me. If I knew where other survivors were, I would try to push them in that direction if I could, otherwise I was just patient and let the survivor continue to run.

Sometimes the survivors would catch on that I wasn't hitting them and would crouch down or start mending. I would shake my head and start walking in a direction I wanted them to run. Some of them would start running again, others would just sit there and heal. If they sat and healed, I would down and hook them and use BBQ to find another survivor to set up.

My build was BBQ and Chili and Discordance to help find survivors, Bloodhound to help chase, and Thanatophobia to prolong the game a little. I used scratched and etched rulers for add-ons. Frank's Mix Tape may have made this a little easier, but I didn't have any and the quicker power refill was nice if there was a second survivor nearby when I got the first survivor set up. Also, not using Frank's Mix Tape may have made it more tempting for survivors to stay in the match against Legion as I only had 1 disconnect and 1 suicide on hook.

I hadn't played killer very much for the last month and a half so my rank when I started this was rank 11. As I was only interested in completing the achievement and not maximizing kills or bloodpoints, I only ranked up to rank 10.

I played the first 10 games between noon and 3:30 pm CST. The last 7 were from 11:30 pm and 2:00 am. The first 20 points came from the afternoon games, so I was averaging 2 points per game. The last 5 points came in the 7 games I played in the evening. The survivors playing later were more likely to quit running and mend so it took a little longer.

End game chat was a mix. Some survivors were mad about being chased for so long, some thought it was boring, others thought it was fun, and a few thought they were looping gods and threw out the EZ.

A few of the games were frustrating but for the most part, I had fun with this challenge. At least I'm done with my Legion achievements and only have to play them when I have dailies.
