Your thoughts on forced 4K by Killer

Because the community's response doesn't seem to have had much of an effect.
Many MMR tests had an overwhelmingly negative feedback. I believe that was a warning that the system shouldn't have been implemented.

I think it should lead to a permanent ban. Killers should be required to play suboptimal if that means a subjective improvment in the Survivors experience. After all it isn't up the devs to make sure that the base game design doesn't cause unfun interactions and if it does the responsibility to play around that should fall entirely to one role alone.

that's a matchmaking issue.
If the survivors are supposed to be judged as a team, then 1Ks should be turned to 0Ks with sacrificed survivors suddenly springing back alive and getting out for free, too.
nice. idk. i hang on the hook even in cases i know teammates won't be able to save me just to earn them some time, to get 5k bps. i mean that's about feeling you won, i suppose? a hatch escape after getting steamrolled doesn't feel like a win whatsoever but trading a hook and possibly dying for it for a 2-3 man escape that otherwise wouldn't happen feels like a win for me. the rewarding mechanism(?) isn't really logical.
hatch still causes more issues than it supposedly solves, though and nothing is more vile than that "lone wolf" playstyle hatch promotes.

Well, it's here though, and obviously here to stay. Thus it is now a "competitive game". If they want to split that off into a ranked queue, that would certainly be the best solution, then they can balance each mode differently. But the point still stands that we currently have a competitive game, like it or not.

It is never too late to remove it.
Most players don't view DBD as a competitive game nor do they want it to be one. The way I see it, we don't have a competitive game. We have a portion of the playerbase treating it as such.
MMR was never introduced to enable a competitive scenario. It was merely a replacement for Ranks and, in my honest opinion, it has failed completely. It isn't a surprise that most feedback regarding MMR was, and still is, negative.

Talk to the devs, not to me. The point stands that this IS a competitive game and MMR exists. So you deal with those implications. If you don't like that, you need to be talking with the devs.

Its bad game design.
In a good game design once the game is 'decided' it should speed up. In a capture the flag style game if its a mismatch its going to be over quickly, in control point the one team will easily control the match because they hold the target. Games only get drawn out when they are close (which is how it should because those are the interesting games).
Generally, DbD follows this. If there is a mismatch between survivors and killer one way or the other it won't be a long game (beyond intentional BMing which is a different issue in any game). Slugging for the 4k and hiding for 4 minutes are logical plays based on the game design if the player cares enough about the outcome, but it results in incredibly boring situations where the game asks the players to either accept boredom or one side to play in a less than non-optimal way.
A simple solution would be to radically speed up the bleed out timer of the downed survivor in this situation.
When video games become a slog something is wrong with the design.

...That is why we are all here. To talk to the devs, to offer feedback. Everything we've all written here is within the developers' reach.
But you asked why MMR was introduced and I am offering my views about it.
If you wish to stop the discussion, I'll press the matter no further.

I don't know, the alternative is leaving survivors with literally no other option than to bore the killer into quitting.
EDIT: Or we can bring old hatch back, that'd fix your issue with it.

Slugging is time consuming. Even if I see another survivor while I’m carrying, I’ll hook the other first then go after them.

How could you have a casual game where noobs are matched with 5K hour pros?
MMR exists because it's not competitive, to allow everyone to have a more-or-less fair match.
If it was competitive, it would be balanced far better, be much less influenced by rng, and MMR would be much, much stricter.

This is honestly my biggest gripe with the game at the moment. I hate it when killers run round the map slugging multiple survivors or slug the 3rd so they can freely go after the 4th for a 4k. To me it takes that player out of the game and holds them hostage as they potentially cannot do anything and just have to sit around waiting to be hooked. A 4k should be the result of a phenomenal play on the killers behalf and this just makes it too easy. Imo BHVR need to look into something to counter this when there are only two players left in the match.

i'm sorry but hide for hatch gamers add nothing valuable to the gameplay for anyone else in the lobby from that point on and ones that do it from the start with their dedicated builds are literally the * word (leaving it to your imagination) of soloq. and you never know who gives up when because they decide the match isn't winnable anymore even though it pretty much is. just give killers the ability to open gates and survivors the ability to unalive themselves on the spot after 15 mins pass and there you go, they can quit if they are being held hostage by any means.

I would really like to see some form of unbreakable basekit. Maybe a second bar above your recovery meter would fill once the first one is full, and once they're both full you can pick yourself up. An amount of time like 45 seconds would be good because being on the ground for 45 seconds is inexcusably slugging and keeping them on the ground for that long isn't required in any kind of strategy (besides slugging)

Suddenly a good number of percentage of survivors die without hatch, increasing kill rate. Resulting killers in generally getting nerfed. Im up for that.

You can always count these auto deaths in statistics so its not a big deal.

Try repairing the gens alone then.

MMR is a system that Devs want everyone, noobie or comp players, use fun build of stack full meta...would have 50% chance to win. MMR is not something your life depended on it to have a mind set that you need to claim to top MMR by anymean necessary.
There is no competition within MMR system. Meme around or try hard, you should have 50% chance to win in both case.
This is the reason why I like MMR, I use Myer no slowdown, you use Nurse stacking 4 slowdown, we both have 50% chance to win.

Nah let's remove hatch and survivor will just hide for forever. It's your business to find them.
Good luck to finish game if you can. And no, just because you killed 3 survivors game will not give you last survivor for free. So enjoy with your unfinishable game.

Hiding in that case would be a case for holding a game hostage.
0 -
It was like that before? That's why BHVR added EGC, so survivors could not hostage killer in a game.
0 -
You are not adding anything to your starting point.

Nah devs fixed old issue and you are disliking it and yet you are not coming with another solution, you are just asking free kill which is never gonna happen.
I was just pointing how ridiculous it is.
1 -
Nah automatic outcomes that just cut games short and limit play are never great.
3 -
oh hell yes, remove hatch, give both parties the opportunity to give up after 20 minute mark and let those slug for 4k and hide for hatch bots fight until server closes so noone else has to endure that bs.
0 -
Hatch should just be replaced with an alternate objective when there's 2 survivors left so I'm not just walking around waiting for the slug to die. Like spawn a tunnel or something like a Demo portal the survivor has to find it work on or maybe a white glyph mechanic where you have to go find the key to the hatch and then find the hatch and open it.

The point of MMR is to try and make sure people can have matches against evenly-skilled opponents. The game doesn't have to be competitive to try and make the players have more fun matches.
Even in a 'fun party game' when someone loads into a match, they don't wanna go against someone who is way better than them and completely stomps them, they wanna go against people around their skill level so they can actually play the game and have fun.
Never understood this mindset that casual games need to have completely uneven matches.
For the record I am not saying that the MMR system in DBD actually accomplishes this, I'm saying that this is the intention of the system.

Yes, I dont get where they get the idea of "MMR forces me to try hard". What do they achieve climbing at the top MMR?
0 -
I just crawl to the corner of the map and face a wall, usually my fellow survivors gets the gist.
0 -
Bad game design.
I also crawl to the corner of the map and walk away.
No other game have I played since I started gaming have I had to do this with. Sometimes I fall asleep waiting lol.

Good old sweaty 4k

If the 4k is recognized by the other survivor and you are slugged, the survivor could just surrender and give themselves up to the killer so the match can end.
