Why is chat so censored
If you censor so many words in the chat, why on earth do you allow people to flame by spamming 'EZ EZ EZ EZ' etc after a game? I'd rather be sworn at or be able to swear if someone's able to aggravate someone like that

You should be able to turn it off. I'm a grown man I can decide whether or not I need to be protected from words.

Because some people literally couldn't help themselves and absolutely had to spam slurs and other horrific #########.
The few ruin it for the many, be upset with them.

Shouldn't reporting help right there? You can use the same filter they're using now to censor to automatically filter which reports should be looked at and in which the reporter shouldn't be a baby

the reporter shouldn't be a baby
That's toxic

BHVR have always refused to say a single word about their senseless chat filter so we'll likely never know.

How's that toxic? I don't think a report saying "you ######### this game up" should be looked into for consequences. However a "you f* piece of #########, I hope you get hooked for real" and stuff like that ... Now that's something else.
Lifting the censorship would increase reporting ... Which could only work if the reports get to be filtered because otherwise it'd be way way way to timeconsuming

With how censored it is they should just get rid of it.
Even when saying kind things it turns it into number signs which makes folks think I said something rude. I just keep it closed. It's pointless.

They really have no reason, I guess they just like it like that. It's definitely really annoying though, for one I should totally be allowed the option to disable it but for whatever reason they don't let you. It's also really dumb because it malfunctions all the time. "Kate" gets censored like 60% of the time, and words like "when I hooked you" are I guess seen as a threat and censored even when I'm just trying to discuss what happened during the game lol.

I apologize for the deviation from the title, but is there any way to enable typing in characters other than the alphabet? In the Asian region, it's challenging to use the chat effectively with the current limitations.

i dont know. they dont allow people cursing at each other but they put a killer in the game recently that does nothing but curse at people

^ this bothered me from the start.
Obviously, we want to censor slurs. But there’s many examples of swears in DbD. Censoring them, when the characters themselves use them, seems hypocritical.

It's BHVR.
Most people don't know how to report things and the process is so long that even I don't bother.
Plus, they've got to sift through all the reports of tunneling and t-bagging to find any legitimate issues.
Also, ######### that attitude. People shouldn't have to be called slurs and then get called a baby for being upset.

I don't see why there isn't an option to just turn it off. Most games have an opt-out chat filter so why doesn't DBD? People who don't wanna see slurs and stuff can keep it on but people who aren't bothered should be able to turn it off.

wish it just censored slurs and horrific ######### lol. the most irrelevant and nonsensical words are censored i sometimes can't even talk to people. "ggswp" is censored for example for whatever reason, have to put a space in between.

Sorry. I did not read what you were saying first correctly

Exactly my thoughts. In 18+ games we have some clunky childish "beeping" that constantly triggering on normal words.
If someone want to insult another:
a) he can do it by using synonims/obscuring anyway
b) if you see something like "you are a ####### trash!" you understand what that word is, so what's the point?
c) you can't stop someone from being racist, hatuful and other forms of miserable. It's the problem with that person, you cannot cure it by covering with blanket.
d) it works only in english, in other languages it's doesn't work, luckily. Of couse I saw some obviously "hot discussions" in other languages and didn't understand a word, but in my native language there was such "conversations" that BHVR puritan filter creator would lose last hairs. But I'm ok, because I'm a grown up man, playing a game for grown-ups with very disturbing and mature content, not "My Little Pony".
But we have situation where "kitchen knives are banned because someone stabbed someone". EGC cannot be used by more than "gg" and "ez", because when you try to write a full centence, for some reason it all become "#########################" when filter triggers on words like "Leon".
