Why are the bots programmed to instantly open exit gates?
I feel like this question doesn't even warrant explanation.
Opening the exit gates while a survivor is on hook or in chase is just disrespectful.

Not saying this is the case, but if someone is going to unhook me in the end game collapse, I want that gate already open lol.
Bots in general need tweaks, for sure. Did the bot just leave you or come back? Genuinely curious!

I play with bots alot mainly to test something, bots mostly just open gates and escape, not caring about their teammates. Its really bore me if real players act like that. I think most killers dont recognize how bad it is for killers if survivors never attempt to get their teammates out.

On the question of instant opening: I'd rather them not try and complicate the bot behavior.
Its really bore me if real players act like that.
I kind of hate the end game on the survivor and killer side and really wish it was normal for survivors to just leave.

It's not the exit gate opening that bothers me, it's that they immediately leave lmao

they should be programmed to kamikaze-save people in end game. who cares if they live lmao they insta leave too not just open gates.

I think that self preservation and progressing objectives are the bots prime directives (probably in that order of importance).
They are single mined in this respect and all they care about is escaping.
And let's be honest here, if the bot goes down in the end game are you really going back to save it? Assuming the bots have some kind of machine learning that learns from player behavior, then the bots must know they're on their own and their best play is always to get out while they still can.

You want bots to metagame?

Fun fact - I have seen a Survivor (an actual player) trying to save a Bot in Endgame. And they both died in the end. So some people seem to care for a Bots life.
But totally agree, they should be programmed to trade. The Killer will still get their Kill (or two, if they get the unhooked Survivor as well) and nobody cares (or should care..) if a Bot dies.

I was trying to do a 2 unhook tome challenge once but another survivor kept greeding them all. When a bot got hooked in endgame I opened the exit gate and went back for them to get my challenge done lol the other survivor followed me on my kamikaze Bot rescue mission for some reason. The bot immediately left upon unhook and the other survivor and I died 🤣

The bots insta open and leave

I like that the BOTs have an "every man for themselves" mentality when it comes to the very end. Kinda real in that sense, there are very few true heroes.
4 -
That's because opening the gates and leaving is the objective once the gens are completed and the bots have a primary program of doing the objective coded into them. And, tbh, I actually like it because I enjoy the idea of end game being an every man for themselves situation.

there can be reasons to save a bot honestly like dropping mmr and getting bps in the meantime and having certain dailies/challenges or if the save is just too free to pass on. or they might be THAT altruistic lol

Bots are already better than most other players in chase, do we really need them to be better at the endgame too?
They exist to make it bearable when a player DCs, not improve your chances of survival.

Because they're more intelligent than most solo surv players.

Yea, or maybe they don't realize it's a bot. I've had a few times where I was too focused on getting us all out to notice that little "BOT" symbol, especially on Coldwind Farm, Eyrie of Crows, and Dead Dawg Saloon where it's kind of camouflaged I wish they'd make it brighter and a contrasting color to be more obvious.

You say that, but I've seen bots do more gens than my teammates in some trials. So having a bot on the team really can improve your chances.

I believe that statistically speaking, "99ing the gates" actually kills more people than it saves. This is probably why the bots decide to just open the gate.

I imagine it's the opposite, what they're programmed to do, rather than programmed not to do. Accurate to real survivors, they'll also be the first to run directly out even at full health.
This isn't actually an issue imo because bots aren't supposed to be perfect OP replacement teammates. They already have certain advantages over real survivors so it's also good to keep them stupid in other ways to compensate for that.

We can't be sure, but I definitely wouldn't bet against you on that LOL
I understand this perspective from a pseudo-realism approach to the game, but my experience has been that most players don't instantly leave. Insta-leaving is real in the sense of, "thats what I would do if I was in that situation in real life," but not an actual reflection of player behavior.
Additionally, from a game health POV, I struggle to see how this helps the game. These bots aren't paying customers, they don't need to be rewarded with an escape so that they keep playing the game.
From a purely game development stand-point, it seems like this programmed behavior only hurts player experience on behalf of "realism." We can appreciate their self-preservationism, sure... but we also know they're not cognitive beings, and therefore are incapable of appreciating their own freedom. If someone has to die in the end, it may as well be them.

I know that they're bots and all, but that is just one of the most selfish and unempathetic responses I have seen so far on here(besides from one specific user). Anyone who stoops down that low I just can't agree with physically-

Imagine the flip side though only you and the bot alive and the bot is programmed to try and save you over focusing on the exits. Either way you probably die.
Program it to 99 exit gates maybe but that means you know it gonna come for the save so just wait it out. If it comes down to you and a bot left and you are on hook then your goose is probably cooked.

Even in this situation...the bots exist to improve the player experience, not to escape.
It's neither here nor there what is the likely outcome, because the bots only care about their objective--which is to help real people enjoy the game. Better we debate HOW the bots are improving the player experience than whether or not they even are.
I take it you're leaving a bread crumb trail for Skynet to find once Judgement Day comes?

Yeah but the scenario they are meant to counter is someone quits and leaves the team short handed, here is an automaton to contribute to the objective in their place.
With that in mind, expecting the bot to simply do the objective is not a stretch.

As much as I hate the bots sometimes I think the devs should focus on improving other things. I’m not sure how to work with AI, but i’m willing to bet it probably takes a lot of time and effort to improve them. Id rather they pour that into improving map generation, adjusting perks, etc.

If they learn from the community, theyre ( the humans ) leaving from ones like my matches. Like when the killer is facecamping me, the other 3 survivors have 0 hooks, and they just leave and I die. Those are humans I am playing with.
Happens decently frequently. I hate them.

lol

Yesterday one just opened the gate and left me lol.
Other match I did the killer hooked me and my friend and bot got the hatch haha.
Can't get no respect I tells ya.

If I am on a hook or in a chase and my team is not working on the gates while I distract the killer, that is disrespectful. I expect a gate to be open for my offhook. I also am fine with the 99% till I get hooked but then pop that guy open so we got a place to go.

Isn't that the objective? Gens done? Open the exit.
