The anti-camp update has done little to nothing.

I just loaded up in a game where a trickster decided he didn't want to play the game, so, he sit just out of range of the anti-camp around a hook, and when someone tried to unhook, gunned everyone down, slugged, and used Ultimate Weapon + DMS to stall the game so he could slug everyone. I dont see how survivors are supposed to win against this, and It feels like the anti-camp mechanic has just made campers proxy camp instead, which is arguably stronger than face camping.

I dont have any feasable solutions, but I'm sure BHVR can do better than having a small bubble around a hook that only lets you unhook if the killers been in there for a long period of time.

I've had plentiful amounts of camping & tunneling killers and my "anti camp" bar has only gone to maybe 35%

"Wow, I cant believe the Anti-face Camping update didn't solve Proxy Camping"

Indeed. bHVR never said they would remove proxy camping.

Proximity camping should be next. It should be the 16m radius of Kindred. Laziness should never be rewarded or regarded as a "valid strategy".

I feel like all this mechanic has achieved has been the huge reduction of Bubba players. And we all know why lol

I wonder why the devs decided to put in so much work just to curb instadown killers from facecamping (Bubba, Myers, even Trickster). Any killer who doesn't have an instadown ability (which is most of the killers) doesn't care if they proxy camp or face camp (unless there's STBFL in play).

Does anyone here think that the anti-facecamping mechanic has done anything other besides preventing Bubbas from insidiously camping?

If I could improve this mechanic, I would do the following:

--> make the bar go up faster, the more gens are incompleted. The more gens are completed, the slower the bar goes up. That way, if someone decides to camp at 4-5 gens left, they should be punished harshly. And if they camp at 1-2 gens left, they won't be punished as much, because more things are at stake.

All this quote shows that's "too close" and "most egregious" means something different to you than to the devs.

Can't say I'm surprised that a survivor feels the killer is too close unless he forgets about the hook and goes to do something else.

Well, just as the Holy Survivor's Rulebook teach us: "If a killer is anywhere on the map, he is camping".

You can't just remove proxy camping because there are scenarios where you have to hook near your gens and you just wouldn't be able to protect a gen because a survivor is hooked close to it even if you're a good distance

You kinda forget kind of a lot of other words. "frustration" due to the killer remaining "nearby" is something they state they want to address. Being in one of the "most coordinated teams" should not be obligatory. And since "there's not much the camped survivor can do" they want a mechanic that "may" give them another shot - since no one else can come help. ... Except that "may" comes with so many asterixes that the whole sentence could just be removed and it would make the whole thing more accurate.

Basement? Out of luck. The killer just needs to not stand still on the stairs and be able to count to ten. Hook in a room? Same story. Hook in a corner? Same story. Hook in the open? Same story. The only situation where it might actually happen is if the killer for some unfathomable reason hooks you right next to an undropped pallet or window on a safe loop. That's literally the only situation where you *may* actually get a chance.

Idk, if all they want to do is disincentivise killer slapping survs on hook or pretending to give them a bj then they should just call it an "anti hook-bm-mechanic" - that would at least be accurate.

Like I said, and like the dev update itself states: camping is a contended topic. But as is the mechanic fails to do what they stated as the intended purpose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, then you made his point. They should have anticipated proxy camping. Therefore his OP still stands. SMH

The game needs a rework of its mechanics because there is 0 way to release a proper anti camp system that wouldn't punish the killer unfairly in situations

    • Take Reassurance to stall hooks for your allies.
    • Take Camaraderie to stall hooks for yourself.
    • Take Desperate Measures + Dead Hard/Overcome to unhook faster and sprint away after taking a hit.
    • Take Borrowed Time to grant the 10% speed boost and endurance for longer to your allies.
    • Take Off the Record to ensure the killer can't wait out your basekit endurance.
    • Take FTP and Buckle Up to mess up the killers hook interrupt attempts.
    • Take Made For This to get more value out of attempts to chew through your endurance and potentially save a slugged player.
    • Take Sprint Burst so your off hook speed is 150%.
    • Take Kindred to know if you should stay on gens or leave, consider Open Handed to make this even better and help allies with Bond.

All of the above are made more effective by the AFC. Is it free? No. However they are all easier to pull off because you have a 16m buffer zone.

AFC does exactly what it says it does, it prevents face camping.

They kinda did though if you read Halloulle's post. :x They worded it to imply it's meant to get rid of camping, of all kinds.

I feel that with M1 killers they can camp but it's not as bad. The time it is bad is if the killer has a second power like Bubba, Trickster, Pyramid Head, Death Slinger, Hill Billy. If there power was deactivated while survivor is on hook and they are within 16m then it would probably solve it but it should be active during end game.

I'm fine with the current anti-facecamp system; only thing that bothers me is that a teammate knocked down near my hook makes this system useless, allowing killer to camp hook and slug-survivor without disturbance

The one thing the feature did was making basement bubbas go extinct. Now they are very rare and have to camp at a distance out in the open like any other killer

tbh, the way they avoid the word "face" in the text is one of the things that amazes me the most. - Iirc they use the term "face camping" in the title, to be fair. - But then go to great lengths to avoid the term in the actual explanation of the mechanic.

Sure, but with actual consequences like losing points for every 1-5 seconds spent inside of it. Losing the regen of a special power, something, ANYTHING.
