I actually like Lights Out. Sue me.
Is the balance perfect? No. Does it need to be? No. It's a silly game mode for a week, not some hyper polished competitive mode. I've had some decent killer games, they were fun. I've had a few survivor games, all of which I've escaped as a solo player, they were fun.
I like the experience of sitting on a gen actually being scary again. I like the atmosphere, as well as a test of map knowledge without being able to see.
In a week, it goes away. Maybe just enjoy something more casual for a bit instead of nitpicking every single thing that could be better and having a cry that they tried something new.

If you like it why do you care what other people think?

I am issuing you a subpoena.

I don't, particularly. I just thought it might be nice to have one thread appreciating something different and fun amongst the 10 pages of sulking.

Yeah balanced wouldn’t be the word for it, but is it different, yes. Are there positives, yes. Am I glad it’s only for 6 days, also yes.

Exactly. If it was like the big unveil of a new permanent mode, I would have more problems, but the absolute tantrum the community is having over what is meant to be a bit of fun for a week is ludicrous.

I'm glad some people like it. Nothing wrong with that at all. I don't like it, but I think it could be a lot better with some improvements. My main problem with it is that it usually turns into a boring, drawn-out slog where killer defends last three gens, hits survivors, can't find or doesn't chase survivors, survivors heal, process repeats indefinitely.

If there are 10 threads saying it’s bad, then it’s not sulking, it’s bad for the majority of players. Glad you like it though.

I've quite enjoyed it as well on both killer and survivor sides. It is rough for solo q since there is no HUD so you basically have no idea what others are doing but I think it's still a unique and fun mode overall. The fact you don't know if the killer is lurking just outside of view is so fun to me. I don't get how people are always complaining that the game is getting stale, but then BHVR releases Lights Out and everyone is hating on it. I get that some people play to win, but this is a limited time mode with an event tome. Can't people just play casual? This just comes to show that nothing the devs do will ever be good enough. I hope enough people are enjoying Lights Out to warrant more game modes in the future.

I really dig the general idea, especially with the added tome page. This is some awesome recurring content: give us a silly, unbalanced mutator each week to play around with, run wild and try all kind of stuff, and let the interns submit their mediocre charms and background banners, so that we can grind for something that won't cost much in the way of development, but increases engagement rate and offers something new.
EDIT: I don't expect this level of goodies each time, but it's actually just one item of goodies per class, so it's actually quite the good way to use some of the artists assets that they design all the time, that don't make the cut for the major releases. Everyone wins with such an arrangement and it will eventually lead to players banners not all being the same 3 things.

I enjoyed this mode as well. I think the one thing that could truly allow more to relax is if it either did not go towards survivor/killer grade or had its own separate one. This could give more of the play to have fun vibe rather than fear of losing progress on something new.

If you see positivity as a rebellious action that means you view negativity as the norm which tells me you aren't curating your online content enough. If this is the case then I guess I just don't understand lashing out at others for sharing their opinion.
If someone feels positive about the game it's only natural they would be preoccupied playing the game and wouldn't post on the forums much.
Conversely if someone feels negatively about the game they are most likely playing it less than the average person but are still invested enough in it to post their thoughts and contribute to discussions.
This is why most feedback spaces skew towards negative. But it isn't really indicative of overall opinion.
Hope that helps.

I've come back to the game just for this and I'm enjoying it a lot.

I changed my mind, after playing it today, I actually like it. It's so much more fun having no annoying music constantly, and actually having to pay attention to sounds and the map. I like it, it's finally more difficult than the regular mode. I'll be sad when it's gone.
I've been using my p100 Sheva as she's super quiet lol, also I love how there is no scratch marks, and no perks. Only thing I wish is that the killers couldn''t see hooks and gens as I feel it kind of guides them to the most likely spot we are at, ruining the fun. I can tell when they are coming and know when to hide because of this.

This isn't necessarily true.
The forum is a much smaller population than the active playerbase and people tend to complain more about things they don't like than they post about things they do like.
DBD could be the most perfectly balanced game and the forum would still be full of complaints, because that's just how people are.

It would be wonderful if they blocked certain killers. Info and oneshot killers shouldn't be part of this mode. People love to ruin good things. I hope they take note for future game modes.
