Are Alan Wake's perk worth buying?
I don't care much for the character, only for new gameplay (perks).
Would you say they are worth in the long run? Like are you playing them or will you be playing them in the long run?

The only Alan wake perk I’ll use is deadline and that’s just to make gens more interesting really
also pairs extremely well with autodidact actually makes autodidact a good perk

No, I don't recommend it. Alan's perks are all mediocre/bad (for me). I bought it only for collecting
If you're new to the game and you want to buy a licensed survivor, I recommend any Resident Evil character. Everyone has at least 1 very good perk.

Champion of Light could be interesting. It's not super good but it's something different at least. Deadline also breaks the mold a bit but it depends on you how well it will work. Illumination is undertuned and sadly doesn't really fit in the niche that it was designed for, so this is probably his worst perk (although I like the concept).
You can only decide for yourself, if it's worth buying Alan Wake for his perks. They aren't all that impressive but they might be fun for a bit.

Throwing a spanner in the works, I'd say his perks are underrated somewhat.
Champion of Light: I've both used and been on the receiving end of this and it's noticeable how much space can be made, so long as the Survivor isn't stupid enough to hang around. The Hindered effect is noticeable.
Boon: Illumination: This is useful for newer players or SoloQ, trying to coordinate and plan out where to go. If you play swf, this perk is really not needed, but it's underrated in terms of usefulness. Depends what you want out of a trial.
Deadline: This does work with perks such as Hyperfocus, Stake Out and Autodidact, but for me this is the weakest one as it's more a hinderance than anything else.
To conclude, there are better perks, of course there are! However, to say these aren't good is a falsehood. It's more about what you want to use overall.

Not worth it, save your money

Okay if you want to make a specified builds like me (full healing on Rebecca or full aura on Jeff for examples). I think his perks are good for specified builds, but not to stand alone on its own.
I would buy to create more builds for survivors, but I dont play survivors nowaday.

No. Personally I don't use flashlights, so Champion of Light does nothing for me. His boon is a lot of time spent finding a totem and setting it up to get information that other perks provide on demand like Deja Vu. It could arguably be ok with other boons, but I never see it being worth the slot. The last one makes more, harder skillchecks, and personally I have no reason to make every match a doctor match for myself.

Deadline could've been interesting if it had one of the two drawbacks, but it's overburdened, so I wouldn't bother. Boon: Illumination is a throw perk, leaving only Champion of Light. That one could be interesting, but I don't know if it's applicable enough to salvage the paragraph.

I'm going to get him when I get paid next- his perks are at worst slightly undertuned, they're perfectly useable and fit into interesting niches.
Boon: Illumination is the draw for me because I have a build I already run that'll benefit a lot from it, but it is a little undertuned and his other two perks are just better.
So if you ask me, yeah, the perks are worth it!

I'd personally recommend never buying a chapter because of perk strength, as they are subject to change. It also encourages a developer to release content overpowered for sales then nerf it later, which though BHVR doesn't have strong evidence of doing intentionally, is not something you want to promote.
Good reasons to buy DLC to my mind are things that don't/are exceedingly unlikely to change: -
- Because you like the character.
- Because you like the conceptual idea of playing with those perks irrespective of strength.
- To complete achievements/trophies or be a completionist.
- Because you want to support the game developers.
To that end, Alan Wake's perks are interesting. They are not particularly strong and won't shift the meta, but they do have some interesting perk synergies if you're into doing novel and quirky builds.
His voice lines are pretty good too. Not overly intrusive conpared to similar characters, but enough to have a more interesting flavour.

Just wait for them to end up on the shrine

IMO no, but they'd work for someone I'm sure. I find flashlights too hard, and really only use one when I find it in a chest so no point in me getting Champion of Light. Deadline is good as part of a build, not really independently. And Boon: Illuminate is good for new players.

I've not bought him but whenever I've heard anyone's opinion on them, it's that they're either weak or at best mid. Certainly nothing outright strong and worth using if you're actually trying to win.

First time I never bought a DLC was the.Chucky and Alan. The perks don’t do much for me and I’ll probably buy them sooner or later just for collection purposes.
