How people are playing that bad against Sadako

I really don't think her counter is that hard. All you need to do take tape from TV and be sure you are not next to active TVs. So she can't build stacks on you.

But somehow, people are still struggling against her. And i am not even talking about baby survivors. Most of them are +2k hours which means they have good knowledge of game.

When i play against her, she is not feeling like any threat to me but can't talk for my teammates. And i played her pretty often after rework and survivors really having hard time to deal with her.

Is she really that hard to counter?

She's new again, so people will take a while to figure out how to play against her. That and of course bad players being bad players. There will be a few that won't ever learn how to play around her power. She isn't quite as linear to play around as a Trapper for example, so that is already enough to confuse some people.

Same reason a player i encountered would loop perfectly against nurse and blight but would hide in a locker against legion, Experience.

Not everyone keeps up with updates and reads the patch notes. I hadn't read her new changes the first time I played against her after the update and had no clue what I was doing against her. Someone here kindly summed it up for me and my next game against her went heaps better.

Sadako has just been changed, survivors are still getting used to the new specifics of her power.

Most of them will adapt eventually.

I dunno man... the counters are damned obvious to me.

They're not even mechanical skill... you can literally learn the counter by reading the patch notes and thinking about it for a few minutes... apparently too hard for some people.

I wouldn't mind exceot so many people then sit complaining they're OP and need nerfs... it's like listening to someone complain a Knight is OP in chess because they got forked once...

Sadako has changed like 3 times since her release including her core mechanics for how you should play against her. There’s 30+ killers in the game all with unique counterplay (for the most part), add that on top of the fact that you see Sadako once in a blue moon and bam, people don’t know how to play against her.

It shouldn’t be shocking at all. If you’re on the forums, odds are you know more about the game mechanics than 90% of the playerbase. Most people don’t care to keep up with patch notes, they just play for enjoyment.

The amount of people i see putting the turrets in useless places or just straight up not using them is gigantic. Most survivors put them in front of stations or next to gens or just never use them after the first 4 have been used. They place them, badly, at the beginning, then stops entirely.

When facing the Alien, you have to play carefully, place the turrets in loops to create distractions, place two if you want to safely out it of of crawler mode or just one if you want a "free bodyblock".

When you create your fiery path you have to plan your route. The Alien will probably come out of a stations, i place the turrets in a way that it will fire behind it (or if not possible, in a corner) so when i run to the loop, it forces it to turn around or lose crawler mode, if it breaks it, it lost me and has to relocate me or strictly follow my scratch marks (which i can use at my advantages) or at least i won some usefull meters, if it ignore the turrets, well, it is in bipedal form for 35s, which is plenty of time to loop or it will leave me.

And if you use turrets next to stations or generators, at least run early when the beepind triggers, the turrets will do nothing more but you will still have some advances, people get free informations a'd wait for it to come out of the stations to start running...

This killer has been out for like 5-6 months and nobody seems to know the basics of facing it which explains a lot.

This is the same for Sadako, any killers that requires you to play in a different way, to think outside of the box (see what i did here) will just be very "unfun" and "too strong" for many. Sadako is even worse because her power is extreme, she can straight up kill you if you misplay too much. Plus she has been reworked so many times, most casual players are completly lost against her. My friend is like "What does she do today, oh wait, idc she will be different next patch !"

Sadako, Pinhead, Alien, Pig and some others are generally disliked for this type of gameplay that requires you to play differently and/or collaborates as a team.

Multiple reasons. Mainly it's because noone knows how she works anymore ontop of already being the most complicated killer power with the most moving pieces.

Like you have the most complicated killer power which is already a barrier to most survivors, they've reworked her power like 6 times in 6 months, you come across her once every 400 hours so people don't even bother trying to learn how to play vs her because she is so rare and the counter requires you to be proactive.

It doesn't matter that the counter is literally grabbing a tape then just turning the TV off everytime it comes on until you do the gen, that's too much for the average survivor. Since the power is constantly changing too anyone who did learn her no longer knows how she works and there isn't any videos on how to counter her/play her because she has been changed so often that the videos are outdated after a couple of months and there aren't enough Sadako players to put out that kind of content consistently and she isn't a big enough draw for other CC's to keep doing new videos on her.

    • The majority of the playerbase don't check patch notes.
    • Sadako has changed multiple, multiple times and so has her counterplay.
    • There's 30+ killers all with unique counterplays (for the most part).
    • Sadako is a rare killer to see in comparison to the rest of the cast.

Lazy and entitled is a really weird way to describe a problem that has almost nothing to do with that. There is so much information for new players to learn in this game. Maps, killer powers, killer counterplay, perks, strategies, etc.

It literally takes roughly 1000-2000 hours to actually learn this game, and you'd call that lazy and entitled? You have a skewed perspective.

My matches post-patch are either god-loopers, prethrow pallets and hold W, and tbag everywhere whether they win or lose, or survivors who don't touch tapes and I get 2-3 Mori's.

Honestly I'm rethinking my stance on this rework.

You really need to understand that 80% of dbd players are extremely casual and will simply not go look up basic info about the game. It's the reason why killers with any complexity are almost always soloq bashers

It does not take 1000 hours to learn dbd. The gameplay is linear, with the only unique gameplay being certain killer powers. It took me 500 max, and I’m a slow learner. And I stand by what I said. People are far more willing to cry on the forum than to actually learn how to play against something that’s different. Unfortunately, BHVR usually listens to them.

Sadako gets changed every three months so please give people slack who don’t currently know whether it’s Sadako 3.0 or Sakado 17.0. Most players are casual and don’t check patch notes.

I’m a 7200 hour player and even I had a brain fart moment against Sadako.

I was like “why tf am I getting stacks when she didn’t teleport near me”.

I thought it was like Sadako 1.0 where you only got stacks if you were within 16 m of the TV that she teleported to. I didn’t know that you got condemned stacks if you were within 16 m of ANY powered TV.

She gets changed so much that her counters all run together at times. “Do I hold a tape? No that’ll give me stacks. Wait, that’s Sadako 1.0 nevermind. If she hits me I’ll gain two stacks right? No, wait that’s Sadako 2.0.”

Now I couldn’t even tell you what her add-ons do :/

By the date on your profile you started playing the game when it had minimal content. I started in 2019 so I didn’t have too much to learn and got new information in increments. If you started anytime after 2021-2022 you’re coming into a fully fleshed out game that’s had an abundance of content, you’re not accounting for the information overload that’s presented to new/newer players.

    • 30+ killers and all their different powers
    • 100+ perks on both sides
    • 40+ maps that all play differently
    • 2 completely different roles and how to play both sides
    • Counterplay to 30+ unique killers with some that you may not encounter for hundreds of hours of game time

Your perspective is skewed and you’re not being rational. Your personal experiences don’t equate to mass audiences. I’ll say it again, Sadako and her counterplay have changed numerous times just in the last year, you absolutely cannot logically expect people to have a grasp on how to counter her already, not to mention that’s she extremely unique compared to the rest of her cast in terms of counterplay.

Edit: Wanted to add that it absolutely takes over a 1000 hours to get a full grasp of this game, I’ve seen it first hand with multiple of my friends that play this.

I can't wait to get unhooked at 6 stacks and have my rescuer forget to turn off the nearby tv. That's gonna be fun lmao

Perhaps these players don't play Killer that much to begin with?

I can tell as a Survivor when a Killer I play is using a certain addon but I can't even remember the names or effects of the less popular Survivor perks. If the bulk of new players mostly play Survivor and hardly touch Killer, it makes sense for them to not know the specifics of every Killer's power let alone one that just got 2 remakes within a year

I did a few 1v1s against a 2k hour player recently as Sadako and he commented that the passive phasing also threw him off because he didn't have much experience looping Sadako and still thought tapes were destroyed upon hit.

Honestly at this point BHVR really needs to have better communication in-game about updates and killer changes, relying on their blog posts/update logs isn't enough to reach everyone and it clearly shows.

I don't find her difficult to deal with but most solo teammates I have seemingly don't understand her making games incredibly difficult and stressful against her. Although Fussy summarized it perfectly on post #3.

The main thing is the playerbases lack of understanding on changes to killers or sometimes even just how they function or what makes them strong. Wish the game was better at relaying information and teaching players before a player even got into a game.

Because some people don't play to care about finding out every little detail and counterplay for every killer and their changes. Some also don't play to get super good even after x amount of hours and probably won't get better and that's okay too.

To paraphrase a quote from a modern-day philosopher.

    That's the way she goes.

  • Coffeecrashing

It's like that for just about all the killers. It's just like how Blight has a lot of counterplay, but most survivors don't even bother to learn how his collision works, or what his limitations are on large angle turn rates, and therefore just assume he's overpowered.

For example, what percentage of survivors can look at a shack wall, and tell if it has broken collision? What percentage of survivors can look at a rock, and tell which angles have broken collision? What percentage of survivors can explain why the newer map designs were a big nerf for Blight?

The main problem with killers isn't whether or not they have counterplay. The main problem is whether or not survivors are even bothering to figure out the counterplay, because if there are enough survivors that (for whatever reason), just aren't understanding the counterplay, then the killer might be on the chopping block for nerfs. And that is what happened to Sadako.

In defense of the average survivor, how are they meant to learn any of that stuff? This game is not intuitive and mostly requires players to grind their face against the wall for hundreds of hours to figure stuff out.

this isn’t really feasible to learn for the average person that plays 1 hour a day they’d have to go to YouTube to learn that
