Random DBD facts you probably didn't ask for.

The purpose of this thread is not to shame BHVR or anyone else in any way. This is just a post with a few things I've noticed about DBD and things that happened in the past. What do you do with this information? Absolutely nothing.

1) Out of the 34 killers, there are 3 that have been reworked twice. Hillbilly, Sadako and Skull Merchant.

2) Freddy is the only killer to be countered by Adrenaline.

3) The Pig once had the fastest carrying speed in the game. Apparently that was because the game took parts of Huntress' code and applied an incorrect multiplyer to her carrying speed.

4) Nemesis is the only killer, that still can have his power countered by flashlights.

5) Freddy can technically be countered by medkits and Self-Care because it allows you to heal yourself and get a skill check, which you can fail to wake yourself up.

6) If it took an average of 10 seconds to buy an entire bloodweb's worth of nodes, it would take you about 13.89 hours to get to from prestige 0 to P100.

7) The stun duration of Decisive Strike used to be affected by Enduring. This was changed in patch 3.0.0. Prior to that it had been nerfed from 3/4/5 seconds to 3/3.5/4 seconds in 1.3.0 and buffed to compensate for Enduring in patch 2.6.3.

8) Before its nerf in patch 4.5.0, the perk Hex: Undying could protect other hex perks up to 4 times.

9) Technically speaking, Hag and Sadako are the fastest killers in the game. When a trap is activated Hag's teleport can be used instantly, which means she can move a set distance in close to 0 seconds (depending on how long it takes for the game to register the input), the same logic applies to Sadako. That puts their speed close to infinity.

10) A former BHVR overlord once compared DBD to hockey, which the community immediately turned into a meme.

11) The Pig once had a 28 metres terror radius. This however was later on increased to the normal 32 metres for consistancy reasons. Apparently the devs wanted all killers with the normal 4.6 m/s movement speed to have the same terror radius. However, we now have 2 exceptions to this rule. Wesker (40m) and Sadako (24m).

12) In an attempt to fix cosmetic glitches, the devs broke the shop instead without actually fixing the issue. There was a time when locked sets could be glitched to combine them with other cosmetics on that character. The fix however only made this harder while also allowing players to combine any outfits they wanted on their characters in the shop. This created funny things like headless Legion (Lost Mascot with different head cosmetic).

13) Not so long ago there were rumors about Leatherface aka Bubba leaving the fog and that it might be connected to the TCSM game. It was later on revealed in a Twitter post (or I suppose it's X now), that he was here to stay. With a picture of him face camping a Dwight.

14) Regarding to the community at the time, there were multiple games that were supposed to kill DBD. Among them: Soul at Stake, Identity V, Resident Evil: Resistance, Last Year, Hide or Die, Friday 13th The Game, Evil Dead: The Game and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. However, DBD is still very much alive and doing better than any of these.

15) Michael Myers, The Cenobite and Pyramid Head are the only killers in the game that weren't taken by the Entity. Michael Myers just showed up (don't ask, the guy was killed multiple times and still came back), Cenobite came into the fog after Dwight found and opened the Lament Configuration, which kind of just showed up as well and Pyramid Head was invited. This lead to some players speculating that Pyramid Head may be stronger than the Entity herself.

16) Although never confirmed, there are theories that Nea is the Entity.

17) Detective Tapp has a scar around his neck, which indicates that he was taken by the Entity only moments before he would have bled out in SAW.

18) Maurice the horse has 3 eyes. He was given the third eye by the Entity because he was blinded when entering her realm.

19) Dwight is the only of the 4 original survivors, that was not changed in his ethnicity or character model during development.

20) There are 2 ways to hear the entity speak. Using the perk Whispers and being afflicted with tier 3 madness.

21) Up until patch 1.4.0 killers could not actually regress gens in any way.

22) In this game's 7 years life span only 3 characters had ever been removed for anyone who did not own them at the time. Steve, Nancy and Demogorgon.

23) This supposed horror game is so unbelievable scarry that the community came up with popular memes like Boop The Snoot and Demodoggo.

Feel free to share your own random facts.

How is Nemesis power countered by flashlights?

  • Xernoton

Zombies can still be blinded. It's the only flashlight related interaction to any power that is still in the game. Calling it a counter might be debatable though.

You can blind a sleeping Charlotte to make Victor switch back. How Victor knows his sister is being woken up by a flashlight remains a mystery.

Just to be a pedantic nerd: Michael Myers didn’t die and come back (in canon), though they did retcon his deaths in 2 and 4. IIRC anytime he actually died in canon, he stayed dead.

Almost all maps have a hidden Golden Toolbox somewhere. Some can only be spotted as survivor, others only by Nurse specifically.

Yun-Jin Lee is the first survivor to be voiced by a professional voice actor! Until then almost all survivors were voiced by BHVR employees!

Random facts people may know, but newer players might not:

One of the beds in Lery's has a cow on it.

The edges of the Red Forest are spooky, as close to the boundaries you can hear screams.

The big, central tree in Sheltered Woods also emits strange sounds if you get close enough.

The Midwich map has numerous references to in-game events, but one lesser mentioned are the toilets. In Silent Hill, visiting the women's toilets in the Otherworld teleports you to the other floor when you exit. Likewise, there are not only holes for you to drop down on the DBD map, but a hidden passage going up, representing the teleportation.

#15 and 16 are definitely the most interesting to me just b/c of The Entity. Didn't know about the theory of Nea, might have to look that up later tonight. Cool list overall!

Trapper's traps can sink into the ground on certain maps. There was one clipping into Myer's house. Trickster is the first killer who has voice lines and subtitles added.

    20) There are 2 ways to hear the entity speak. Using the perk Whispers and being afflicted with tier 3 madness.

I'd like to suggest that The Legion's Fuming Mixtape might also be samples of The Entity's voice mixed into the music, because that's definitely something a gang of deranged violent punks would do.

To add my own: Jeff Johansen, Yun-Jin Lee, Vittorio Toscano, and Gabriel Soma are the only original survivors who met their chapters' respective killer before being taken by The Entity. I don't count the Lyras and Skull Merchant since their meeting and taking were practically simultaneous.

A piece of Alan Wake trivia: Alan Wake and Haddie Kaur both use the term "Overlap" to refer to parts of normal reality that have been infiltrated by their respective dark influences, The Dark Presence and The Entity AKA The Ravage.

    Legion's Joey has beaver tattoo

Adam has watched Trickster's show in Seoul with his students

The code that is in Jonah's lore actually leads you to the abandoned city in Chile

The first killer that Rebecca faced in the Fog is Oni

Doctor was meant to be Chinese, and his lore was the doctor who tried to cure game addiction by giving electric shock to the brain. There was a doctor in China who actually tried this in real life.

Leon has the shortest description among all the survivors, and that description seems pretty effortless...

    1. Killers can hit survivors through fences/railings

    2. Previously, a balanced landing removed the stun after a fall permanently, which opened up huge spaces for survivors in terms of endless abuse on some maps

    3. PTB "portaint of murder" was the first PTB for which a bugfix was released.

    4. Michael Myers can accumulate a stage only for 1 survivor at a time (if there are several of them, then the stage accumulates from the closest one) but previously he could for several

    5. Previously, STBFL and Unrelenting were a meta that completely removed killer cooldown as a phenomenon

So I searched up Nea being the entity..finding out its just b/c of the meme lol. 🤣

Damnit I thought it was going to be this insane theory with like 10 different points all connecting to each other..

    Here are some:

    1) You can get Pentimento twice on the same totem if you also have Undying and a survivor breaks a dull totem (and you rekindle it). When that rekindled totem is cleansed, Pentimento gets moved to the Undying totem. When that totem is cleansed, you can activate Pentimento again in that same location because technically that totem was never rekindled.

    2) Blight originally had a lower POV (his camera was closer to the ground).

    3) There usually isn't much reason to do this, but Dredge can manually go into a locker (without teleporting/setting a remnant down first) by walking up to it and pressing the ability button while your power is not on cooldown. This does not consume a teleport token and you will still have up to 3 teleports left after that.

    4) On a PTB several years ago (I forgot which one) the devs tested out a rework to Self-Care where it gave you the self-heal ability but all your healing speeds were permanently reduced by 25%. This meant you could heal yourself at 75% normal speed, but healing other survivors was also at 75% normal speed. This was scrapped after the PTB and never made it to a live release.

    5) When Hemorrhage was buffed, it originally affected survivors in the dying state as well. This meant you couldn't crawl without losing your recovery progress. This was also changed after the PTB.

    6) If you use Dying Light on Trapper, the obsession can un-trap other survivors faster. Definitely a bug, but it's kinda funny.

    7) Singularity's Overclock action speed bonus also affects kicking generators.

    8) It's very rare, but possible for a generator not to appear on the gallows on Dead Dawg Saloon. When this does happen, there's usually a generator in the shack instead.

    9) If you're playing against a Trapper - when he sets a trap down at a loop while in chase to try to force you away from the loop, pay attention to his hand the trap is in. When he bends back up straight after setting a trap down, the trap won't be in his hand anymore (and then another one will appear if he has another one). If he bends back up with the trap still in his hand - that means he faked setting the trap and didn't actually put it down.

    10) Chainsaws (both Billy and Bubba) have a 60 meter range limit on their audio - survivors further away than that can’t hear them.

    11) You can still disturb a crow with Calm Spirit if you step directly on it.

    12) If a survivor releases a turret from a control station but then doesn't pick it up (leaving it on top of the control station), the Xenomorph can attack and destroy it while it's still sitting on the control station.

    13) Another one about turrets - normally, while the Xenomorph is in the tunnels it can detect nearby survivors through little orange dots that appear on the ceilings in the tunnels. However, if you're holding a turret as a survivor, you're immune to this form of detection entirely. Another thing - you can still open an exit gate while carrying a turret (this is true for Incapacitated in general).

    14) Unlike NOED which only gets revealed by basic attacks, Devour Hope's exposed effect gets revealed by most special attacks as well (even though they don't work with exposed).

    15) Wesker's power recharge time is reduced by 0.5 seconds for each infected survivor.

    16) While Oni is in Blood Fury, it's still possible to do a regular attack on a survivor (ie. pressing M1) which does not instadown and is similar to a basic attack. However it still counts as a special attack and is not a basic attack.

    17) Legion's Killer Instinct detection is normally tied to the terror radius, however if you use Susie's Mixtape you get an extra 20 meters of detection on the edge of and outside your terror radius, and that extra 20m zone isn't part of the terror radius. This creates a weird interaction where Oblivious survivors don't get detected while in your terror radius, but do get detected if they move far away enough to be in that extra 20m zone. This also means you can have a 20m detection range around you while Undetectable (when your terror radius is 0).

    18) Legion can pick up survivors while using Frenzy. This lets you skip the fatigue cooldown, but it depletes your entire power gauge.

    15) Wesker's power recharge time is reduced by 0.5 seconds for each infected survivor.

Similarly, Singularity's Overclocked Mode's duration is extended for each Slipstreamed survivor, though I can't remember the specific numbers.

  • sizzlingmario4
    sizzlingmario4 Member Posts: 6,913

4.7 seconds + 1 second per slipstreamed survivor. The addons that affect Overclock duration only apply to the base time though.

lol that self care change would’ve been garbage glad that never made it to a live build
