QoL changes you'd like!

One of the QoL features I'd love to see it - Can we get an option to disable hearing the hook screams please? And especially Demos screech, etc.

It gives me extremely painful migraines which I am treating with a successful treatment(s) but this game and this game alone manages to give me one from these loud sounds. My only option is turn down the volume so low I can hear nothing, or get a migraine. Or just...not play.

Are there any other QoL changes you'd like to see? Feel free to discuss and offer solutions if you like :)

    Auras more consistently being visible through gens

    Auras being more consistently visible through the hook bubble

    Blindness not affecting hook auras

    Blindness being changed to a stack system on some perks so instead of being blinded for 30s, 60s ect its blinded until it blocks 1/2 aura reads, then while blocking it its blocked for ~10s then goes away like anti distortion

    More progress bars on survivor interactions, how long is left on that heal, how much progress is on that exit gate before you were chased off, did you finish cleansing that totem or not ect

    A QOL feature that enables the smooth transition animation from Survivor's locomotion that was cut from ptb 4.5.0

    A chase music selector that allows the old ptb or previous live chase tracks to replace the current chase track to be listened to client sided.

    I’d love for the hook bubbles to be removed. I honestly have zero idea why they’re even in the game and it takes away from the value of perks like kindred.

    And I’m sorry to hear about your migraine problems, most of my family deals with them and I know how destructive they can be to your everyday life, hope you find some relief. My mom has consistently dealt with these for 30 years now and has recently found that electric stim therapy around the base of her neck and above her eyebrows has done a pretty good job of subsiding them, as apparently it can reduce the production of a certain chemical that can induce migraines.

    When the hook bubble was added to the game there was no mention about it. It just showed up after a PTB one day. Many people believed for a long time it was a bug. Much later a dev or two clarified that the hook bubble is intentional but didn’t really give a solid reason why. I’m thinking it exists to lowkey counter kindred & give the killer some stealth.

    Yeah I want to say it was added at the same time they changed auras to be less opaque (probably two or three years ago?) I remember seeing a dev response to this as well but same as you I don’t remember them actually giving a legit reason as to adding it.

    The ability to choose any aura colour

    there’s been a lot of them throughout the years and with boon Illumination it makes me wish I could have every aura blue

    Removing the option to self unhook or send yourself through hook stages faster through button prompts, leave the timer. Keep deliverance as the only way to self unhook, and bobs your uncle. No more ppl complaining about “suicides”’ whether intentional or not on both sides.

    Being stuck with PS2-era animations indefinitely for the sake of "muh moonwalks" is one of the worst decisions they have ever made.

    Ditto, i wish they'd bring it back along with updating the healing and exit gate animation.

    But hey, at least we can't say they don't listen to the community when they more often than not bend over to community backlash, although that won't stop people from saying stuff like they never listen to them or use the same piss poor excuse of ''nobody asked for this'' whenever they get something they don't like.

    So i guess we need to be just as vocal in order to get it back.

    -Change aura colors

    -Allowing bloodweb auto-buy after getting 1 prestige on any character of that role (instead of needing to do 1 prestige level manually on every new character)

    -More preset loadout/cosmetic slots (ie. more than 3)

    -Daily ritual tracker in-game, similar to what we already have for archives

    being able to see your personal mmr and your personal survive/kill stats(per killer) percentages built into your profile information so you can view it at anytime.

    I've never had a problem with thee exit gate animation. What bothers you about them?

    The healing is absolutely the worst animation in the game and I'm convinced they just can't find a way of improving it because of the different sizes among survivors.

    I would like scratch marks to be reverted to the state they were a few years ago. They used to be so vibrant and thick you couldn't miss them. Now I'm happy if I can follow them at all on some maps.

    Ditto for a hook scream volume slider. And I'd like to be able to lower the volume of the notification explosion noise, too. It's the main reason why I can never use headphones to play and it's especially obnoxious when you get those types of Survivors that like to grief by spam vaulting or jumping in and out of lockers 20 times.

    Yeah... it gets pretty bad with different perks reusing the same color. When they did the event gen's aura colors different, I had to avoid using surveillance in my builds.

    It may have felt a little less responsive compared to the old animation, but it has been proven to be a visual thing only as the speed of a Survivor turning is the same regardless when comparing.

    Personally, it made Survivors turning feel more natural than the clunky and stiff running animation of the old movement and i'd wish we could bring it back.

    My problem with the exit gate animation is that it just looks stiff, especially with the other arm that isn't pulling the lever. I would like them to make it feel more natural.

    As far as healing goes, i have a feeling you're correct. I think they should update the animation to look similar to left 4 dead but have it be something that can loop repeatedly so it can go on for as long as required.

    if you recall, there was an egregious desync bug that happened in the same patch as the new movement animations. instead of fixing the bug and seeing how things settled for a couple weeks they panicked and ripped out all the transition animations.

    I don't remember any desync bug as the reason the transition got removed, iirc it had something to do with people getting pissy over the fact that they couldn't moonwalk as Survivors anymore or spin the killer anymore because the updated animation didn't allow it (Can't remember which one it was), however it is my belief that despite the initial outcry, dbd needs to move forward and continue updating and polishing everything about itself to avoid becoming outdated with time, including animation and graphics.

    #1 Give us the option to have old movement animation

    #2 Give us the option to disable the hook blurness (the strange red cycle when a survivor gets hooked)

    #3 Change survivor auras so they wont blend in with generators.

    I agree. When I play killer during an event (anniversary), I can't tell when a gen is hit with Discordance.
