Why not more positive feedback from the Entity?

edited February 2024 in Feedback and Suggestions

Since a recent, short discussion with @Xernoton, we both agreed that playing killer is overall a more stressful and often less rewarding experience, also compared to survivor. I thought about it and there are many things we could change to make it a little bit more pleasent and overall make it feel more rewarding - without changing the game to much.

My first suggestion would be a more forgiving feedback from the Entity. Pips are pretty meaningless these days and only there to get a nice bloodpoint boost at the 13th each month.

There are those games where you stress out against a strong team, you play fair and spread hooks, but eventually, when you loose the game, it leaves you with a sour taste behind. And then, even the Entity tells you that you suck... come on, it could at least side with the Killer a bit more, right?

Suggestion: Make piping for killer more easy. Negative msg from Entity like Entity hungers should only be if you really failed hard. The norm should be that you played decent or good. Entety, have more kind words for killer. A little pat on the back.

Thats it, i will come with more ideas, if that is wished, but for now we leave it to this very basic one.

Let me confirm if I understand your perspective correctly. You mention that being a Killer is stressful and unrewarding, and your proposed solution is to provide more pleasant feedback from the Entity. While I agree that being a Killer can be stressful, the rewards come in the form of bloodpoints and progress on challenges. Increasing the niceness from the Entity in the game may not necessarily alleviate the stress or change the perception of rewards.

According to the lore, the Entity cares equally about Killers and Survivors. Personally, I don't concern myself much with its displeasure or lack of progress in the last game. The Entity is an oppressive creature, and I'm indifferent to what it has to say. I'm here for the game, not its approval.

While I would love the killer role to be a bit less stressful and at times frustrating, I don't think changing the entity feedback would help me personally. I never cared about what the entity said to begin with but I base my entire opinion on the actual match and not on the results. I would be more than happy getting no kills as long as I had some good chases and saw some good plays.

I had suggested a mechanic before that would reveal 1 survivor with the least hook stages to the killer every time they get a hook. This would come as a nudge to play 'nice'. It won't help, if you're tunneling and it won't help if you're camping either. But it would help with these situations where you run around the map aimlessly while losing 2 gens in the process.

The pipping system could use a bit of work for both killers and survivors. It's easy to pip with Blight even when you lose but the same cannot be said for killers like Bubba or Billy because the chaser emblem will cap at silver, if you use your power too much. But if you don't use your power, then why even play that character? For survivors it also becomes quite hard to pip because they would need to do quite a bit of everything, which cannot happen when the killer is on their level. You will not be able to loop the killer for 2 minutes, repair 2 gens, get 5 heals and stay healthy the entire game.

Lastly, I think a lot of the stress that is involved in playing killer comes from being isolated. You have no one but yourself to rely on, no one but yourself to help you out and you cannot goof off with friends like you could in a SWF. So fixing it entirely might not be possible. It would however be nice to have a 2v8 game mode.

The entity’s opinion of me is irrelevant. I enter its realms of my own accord and I leave whenever I want. All I care about is inflicting as much despair upon my hooked teammates while they watch me self caring in a bush.

Can't say I agree with killer being more stressful and less rewarding. Killer gets more bloodpoints than survivor on average, and their tome challenges are generally easier and more straightforward to achieve, while survivor challenges often force you to throw the entire match (hide within 10 meters of the killer for 60 seconds in a single match?)

On the stress part, the killer only has to worry about letting themselves down. A survivor has the worry of letting their entire team down if they make a mistake. The killer also has full control of their role, and can choose how seriously they want to take the match. A survivor can only control 25% of their role, and doing well doesn't have nearly as much impact on how their role is performing. Not to mention a survivor can essentially be prevented from playing the game if the killer chooses, and being gen-rushed isn't anywhere as frustrating as that.

I literally can't care less about piping on both sides, and idk how it should make my match against full meta squad less stressful or survivor match more fun. "Kind words" from Entity? I know by myself if i did good or bad in match, pre-written letters will do absolutely nothing to my stress after it.

Year, I agree that killer is overall more stressful than survivor (especially in a SWF - SoloQ is more different) but this is the nature of the role. As a survivor, you have sometimes chill moments when you sit on generators while another survivor is in chase, does unhook ect. The killer, on the otherhand, has - in a normal match - no chill moments because you have always something to do that needs your attention (chasing, mindgames, looking for survivors ect.). From my experience you have also less pressure because it feels like as a killer all eyes on you while as a survivor you don't feel watched, if you know what I mean. However, every player has a different opinion.

Pips are pretty meaningless these days and only there to get a nice bloodpoint boost at the 13th each month.

Just because we don't care about pips, does not mean every player don't care about losing pips.

Make piping for killer more easy.

From time to time I see also posts from survivor players that want no depip. I think the pipsystem overall should get a rework like @Xernoton already explained because some killer have a harder time to pip while survivors sometimes lose a pip too easily.

It feels sometimes akward when you play really good (fast 4k or 5gen chase) and don't get a pip. It is the question if the devs have this pipsystem either to encourage players to have longer games or to play the game more by making pipping difficult.

Negative msg from Entity like Entity hungers should only be if you really failed hard. The norm should be that you played decent or good. Entety, have more kind words for killer. A little pat on the back.

Is the message from the Entity really the issue? When I started the game I didn't care about it - still don't do it - but the bm (tbagging, nasty things in the afterchat ect.) from the otherside was annyoing and not very friendly. Meanwhile I don't care about it anymore but there are other players that care about it and feel insulted when they get bmed from the otherside just because they don't got the 4K or escaped.

Another point is also not the result only but the match by itself. I can 4K every match (or escape every match as a survivor) but this doesn't mean a thing if the matches are either boring or easy. I want more exciting matches without facing stupid ######### (e.g. map offerings, broken perks, killers, addons, items, teammates give up for no reasons, slugging for four minutes ect.). Even if I lose these matches, I have no hard feeling because the match was fun. Of cause, every person has a different opinion about what a fun match is but I think if we can get rid off the most stupid #########, the matches for everyone could be better overall. But this is another topic, I guess.

Overall, more QoL changes for the players is always welcome even if they are tiny little things like a more friendly message from the entity or easier pipsystem.

Hello, yes i do think so overall. This might be a personal thing and i can not speak for everyone of course, but the tenor of killer players often sound a lot like this, especially here.
