Which killer do you think has the best visual design?
For me, I think their work on Mr Baldy (Pinhead) is the best. His walk animation, his vault animation (I love it so much), M1, M2 and mori are all perfect. His voice lines are the cherry on top. They really hit the ball out of the park with this killer. Even if he’s decimating the team I’m on, I can’t but help admire everything and want to watch him a little.
Oni-Chan is a close second. He just has this presence that makes you wary of everything and the second you hear that roar, just chills. It was amazing when his chapter was released.

Chucky.
He is such a cute doll. Or is he?
1 -
I haven’t experienced him yet, but from what I saw on YouTube, he is really well done. My only gripe with him is his carry animation. I’d have preferred if he grabbed the survivor by the hair and drug them to the hook.
2 -
For me The Knight one of the best visually designed killers being from the medieval times and can tell that he's seen a lot of battles and not someone you want to even try to mess with. The audio is also amazing can really hear the weight of his armor as he moves around.
Pinhead? Ehhh sure visually matches what he should be, but I never liked his walking animation. The animation doesn't match the walking speed when he's moving around so it always look really weird to me.
4 -
Actually I was just watching his animations in the lobby the other day and thinking how much of an amazing job they did of that.
OP I tend to agree, Pinhead looks amazing... I say that as someone who really does not enjoy playing against him very much as I find the chains irritating.
But yeah he looks fantastic
2 -
I like playing against him when my teammates aren’t afraid to do the box! But yea, a really good Mr Baldy can be outright oppressive.
@BlackRabies Yea, his walk animation could be improved but I blame game mechanics for it. I just pretend he’s floating.
I agree with you on the Knight. He is fantastic. The visuals, the music and sense of dread it causes and his mori are all great. I just don’t like how his hair sticks out from his helmet.
2 -
Pyramid Head has to be my favorite, personally.
1 -
I’ll forever be salty with his cake nerf. Even if they buff his cake, I’ll hold a grudge.
1 -
It’s gotta be Huntress for me! Her running animation looks like she’s on the hunt, the Mori is very good for being as old as it is with the axe getting stuck in the survivors head. Her idle animation where she sways backs and forth and tilting her head from sides to side while humming the lullaby is beautifully done. And when she reacts up an hatchet she straightens her head and arches back showing that she’s focusing on her target. Also extra bonus points for being so tall! She could have her own game in my opinion! Outstanding lore and story and honestly I think is iconic enough to have her own movie. Especially since there are so few iconic female slashers. I record everything single match I play against and as her because of my infatuation with the character. She’s definitely my Object of Obsession!

Singularity is both horrifying and cool as hell. He's one of the more non human killers that manages to be so human-like in speech and intellect. His design is cool as hell and he's genuinely terrifying and threatening to get chased by due to his appearance.
It's stated that his perfect, God-like body we see in the fog is actually a mangled version of it with some parts of him burnt or broken. It would be pretty sick to see a version of him as Hux intended his body of perfection to look like. Hopefully we see that cosmetic soon enough.
4 -
For me it would be dredge. I love the way they flop on the ground while falling.
7 -
You know, I’ve never paid attention to killer idle animations. Ima have to start.
Also, I’d definitely play a 3rd person action game with huntress as the main character.
1 -
dredge 100%
6 -
Wry few killers have in game idle animations, I know her, spirit and demo do! But that’s all I can remember.

Dredge
1 -
They all need it. Small things like this just make the game more immersive. I also wish survivors had unique running, walking, healing and gen repair animations.
1 -
Freddy, of course.
Very faithful to the remake, including his Mori. I also love how his power used to have Nancy's face in it.
2 -
That’s the first I’ve heard that. Are you talking about the pools of blood? Why’d they have to remove that?
1 -
Actually, I'm talking about this:
1 -
Aw, I hate when they remove unique stuff like this!
2 -
You can blame Freddy's awful rework for that, my friend. Further proof patch 3.1.0 was one of the worst in the game's history.
2 -
That sucks. There was literally no reason to remove it completely. They could have implemented it to his animation when he sets blood pools.
I hope they give him a new make over soon.
1 -
I base my killer choice on aesthetics as much as anything, hence why I play Oni and Knight. Both have superb aesthetics and sound designs. Pinhead is cool with his chain pick ups as is deathslingers pistol butt break action.
2 -
Without the considering the licensed ones who are better designed in general, my favourites are Oni, Plague and Doctor.
1 -
My number one is the Dredge for sure.
Runner-ups would be:
- The Spirit
- The Oni
- The Knight
After The Unknown releases they may have a spot as well.
0 -
Dredge I hope they give him some love and buffs some day.
3 -
I think it says a lot about Knight's visual and audio design when I see people say his chase music feels incomplete without the loud CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK of his armor alongside it.
Dredge is also fantastic, one of the few original chapters I bought with money instead of shards. A shame that his great audiovisual design also makes him loud as hell which ruins his stealth, just one of many problems with his gameplay design.
1 -
There was also a visual effect when trying to hit an awake survivor. It was unique to him, and we also don't have that anymore.
But I have hope, my friend! I think things will change for the better.
2 -
Xenomorph, without a doubt.
5 -
Xenomorph. It has so many smooth animations, from it's two running animations, it's smooth tail whip, the quadrupedal vault, it's unique carry animation, the way it slaps open lockers with its tail, and even the way it crawls in and out of tunnels. There's so much polish.
Aside from that, Dredge and Singularity. Dredge's animations are so full of personality. The way it kinds of lazily flops over windows as a vault animation is probably my favorite. Also, that horse's head lobby animation is great. Dredge is also cool because of his two attack animations. The quick jab from killer POV doesn't block your line of sight, but survivors see it as if he took a huge swipe at them.
Singularity's walk animation alone warrants him a spot for me. The walk with his weapon arm raised looks so cool when you see it as an aura read. I also like the subtle detail in the way he stomps into a pallet when he breaks it, instead of just kicking it. His weapon cooldown animations also deserve a shoutout, because he also has two depending in your POV. As killer, you just see him stab with the edge and retract it back into ready position, but as survivor, you see him follow through with a slash and hunch over, before readying it again.
4 -
Huh. I didn't know that!
The more I read about the Freddy rework, the more it seems like a weird downgrade. I mean, we went from that to "He can teleport to generators and leave pools of blood that make survivors scream." The thematic inconsistency alone seems weird, given that BHVR normally tries to stay true to the character of licensed killers.
3 -
Chucky getting knocked down is the funniest and cutest thing ever.
Re topic, it's so hard to pick. I actually quite like Singularity's design.
4 -
It really is hard to pick. The artists do really good work.
3 -
It was a terrible change, my friend. It was poorly received by OG Freddy mains, it was poorly received by survivors, it caused massive complaints which eventually led to a nerf, and to Freddy's current state.
And it took my favorite killer, the one thing that matters most to me in DBD, away.
1 -
The worst thing about this is the poor excuse BHVR made when they reworked him, they said that the old Freddy were unintuitive or very opressive against newbie survivors, like he were the only noob stomper killer in the game before being reworked, there are more noob stomper killers aside the old Freddy and new ones released after that. They removed his uniqueness, I stopped played him after the rework and before it he was in my top 3 most played killers. Also, i've heard that the main responsible of his rework no longer works in BHVR and he recogniced that the rework was bad.
2 -
Demogorgon and Xenomorph.
Im a sucker for alien designs that use digitigrade legs.
2 -
My takes would be:
- Xenomorph is so polished it might be the best killer model/animations/sound design in the entire game. Just the fact he actually crawl up and down on contrary to pyramid head or the others who just slide in (when PH walks up the basement stairs, the knife float). Xenomorph animations are insane, the sound design is beyong amazing and it has so much little details everywhere, it's just insanity. So for me it wins by a long shot.
- Pyramid head is very intimidating, i have some gripe here and there about some choices they made but overall, he is fantastic. Sound design is also very great, im a bit sad they scrapped the different sound the knife had back then, it used to create different noises based on the surface you walked on with RoJ activated, now it's always the same sound.
I would say Nemesis, but no, his legs are cutted short, he is very goofy and overall not portrayed very well into dbd, could have been better. Great sound design tho.
Singularity, Dredge and Sadako are also really cool, their animations are well done and the sound design is incredible. Especially Sadako, the idle wave sound is such a nice touch to her character.
For the record, a guy named Syralex does some video where he showcase every animations of a killer and their skins, so you can appreciate the devs work and see all those details properly.

Trickster cause he's hot.

Sadako
her jump scare lobby animation, the TV static effects, her mori which mimics the movie scene, crawling out of TV’s, the fact she uses her power for everything and never actually physically touches anything in the trail giving her really unique pickup and breaking animations
all that combined with fantastic sound design makes her aesthetically the best killer in my opinion
1 -
I agree she is well done. I just wish she was more fun to play/verse. I didn’t realize she never touches anything!
1 -
I love playing her personally, but I do wish they would rework her condemn and instead give her a bit more chase power
and yeah she uses her power to do everything, from picking up survivors, breaking walls and gens and even injuring them (the kanji on screen when she attacks means “curse” so she’s literally just willing someone injured with her hand/ mind
1 -
I’ve always been a sucker for characters with psychic powers (Mob Psycho and Kyousuke Hyoubu). I may just have to buy her.
Maybe they should just scrap the “die if condemned” idea and give her to throw survivors into other survivors with her power (just spit balling ideas).

The Dredge has a cool look to him. His gameplay leans a bit towards boring though. I feel like most killers in DBD are sort of boring excluding Huntress, Wesker, Blight, maybe even Nurse and a couple of more. I wish they did more experimental killers.
1 -
Yea, it does feel like the killers are rather stale when it comes to them having fun and unique powers. I think it has to do with the limitations of the current engine the game runs on.
0 -
Easily one of the worst changes ever made to this game. Even after years it is still baffling that rework was approved and was actually implemented.
What a devastating way to kill a character. But I have hope, my friend, that things will change for the better.
2 -
And we've got a new noob stomper dropping in a little more than a week from now! Oh, the irony.
1 -
I think the devs are too scared to try anything new.
I sometimes play the chinese DBD game and the killers there are much more unique imo. So I am not sure about the limitations thing. I think they're just scared, which is sad.
I would love it if they brought a killer from there as a DLC or something and maybe a survivor too. But survivors are harder to translate to DBD as they are much more unique than the survivors here. (I just want my girly Sculptor in DBD 😭)

It’s not necessarily the Devs. They have to get approval to do anything from their higher ups (I call them Bean Counters) and if the higher ups don’t see immediate monetary value, they won’t allow it.
It sucks, that’s the world of Corporations we live in today.

I like so many of them, however, of course my vote has to go to Onyro. I love her creepy gliding walk. 😂😅
The 📺 are really neat, the static, the horror, the images, the well!
Also her flickering in and out hearing the static is really neat. Visually well done for sure.
