Why are "slide techs" still in the game?

Honest question - why can killers still slide tech when it wasn't intended to be in the game?

Why is a blight, who can travel super fast, able slide off something facing 'North' and then be able to hit people 180 degree's facing south?

Why can Oni in his power still use the flick up bug and hit at 200 degrees opposite way?

And as I understand it, even the Wesker "aiming" a different way whilst travelling in motion wasn't intended by the Devs, so why are these possible in the game months (years in some cases) since the release of these killers?

I just seem to remember this wasn't meant to be in the game but I'm happy to be proved wrong - so I can get over the bug bear of it lol

Yes - it's accepted and I'm all for that - but it's not the same as sliding off objects to get to your target.

Absolutely disagree about them being counterable. Just for example taking Blight, with the highest recorded win rate of over 1000+ kill streak (which shouldn't exist in any game) - it just shows you how hard it is to counter a slide tech blight.

I actually agree with this - being a killer and being able to hit survivors with them seems wrong.

I also remember the Dev's saying its unintended so not sure why these exploits are still in game after all this time.

I think we just have different perspectives. Personally I love playing against slide blights but I understand why some would not. You make a good point, but there are definitely counters to the sliding. It's just as if he was rushing in a straight line towards you, but starting from a different angle. You can always predrop.

If you actually watch a blight playing hard core to win including the 1k+ winstreak person you mentioned you would see they very seldom use the hug tech, only on tiles where it's required to make them playable with the power. That in itself proves how counterable it is, if it had no counterplay someone aiming for such an immense streak would be constantly using it. Any comp blight gameplay would show you the exact same.

Blights creator actually wanted blight to slide on quite a few things when the blight wanted to, something called the scoot slide but not the hug tech. Although he accepted the hug tech as being a fair thing until he could fix blights collision on a base level, but he left before doing so. A different person came in and randomly commented on the topic 2 years ago now that the hug tech was not intended but as you've seen it's probably far harder to fix blights collision or collision in general than not.

There is genuine counter play to the hug tech as someone who up until a year ago mained killer and at that blight, but now mains survivor. From both perspectives counterplay is possible.

Weskers tech was literally reverted if I am not mistaken because he felt horrible too play without it.

Onis was "capped" but people found a movement to bypass that cap. That was before I started playing years ago and with no statements and immense counterplay vs a very fair killer it's fine.

wesker's "urobend" was bugged and removed in one ptb and people said it was terrible, and i can also see how he can be basically unplayable without it. also it was fixed and brought back before patch goes live, indicating they are in fact intended.

i might agree on blight since he is already the top 2 killer, but as stated above it's not as reliable and as strong as just bumping around. also you can easily react to when he is going for a hug tech and just... leave the tile.

against oni's flicks, you just have to take it wide after rounding corners because he can't see where you are before performing them, it's a 50/50 at that point. oni's flicks make him strong indeed, but do they carry him to the top tier? not really. and i feel he would be pretty weak and so easily countered if they were gone.

Wesker’s “aiming” thing is most likely intended. It was removed once in a PTB and immediately fixed before going live so I think it is safe to say it is intended. If it wasn’t intended they would’ve left it out or at least mention it in the bug fix section of the patch notes, but they didn’t.

Because they haven't fixed it yet. Which is kind of understandable considering that this is actually based on a safety measure to ensure Blight is even playable and given DBD's janky hitboxes, this will probably take some extensive work not only on Blight but also on maps.

With Oni we haven't had word, if they even want to fix this. It's not super problematic and it wouldn't be the first time they took something that is technically an exploit and consider it a feature. Just look at CJ techs. Or Skybilly for the first 5 years.

Wesker's Urobend (I think that's what you're referring to) was fixed several times already and it always ended up as a nerf, that was neither necessary nor asked for. It's a skill expression, that also allows you to play around difficult maps.

I still think the scoot slide is the most ridiculously named thing in the history of DBD.

The Blight dev literally told everyone that he added a secondary collision system for Blight, and that players should literally aim their camera downwards, to see how it affects what Blight slides off of……. And then a steamer slides off of something while looking downwards, and now it’s a tech named after that streamer??????

    For reals?

It took 3 years just to nerf Blights overpowered add-ons. I don’t see the exploits being patched anytime soon, even one of the devs confirmed it was unintentional.

Facing a good Blight who can do these exploits is one of the most broken things ever.
