Hex Plaything Disproportionately Hurts Solo Survivors: Change My Mind
First, let me preface this post by saying that I do not think Hex Plaything is OP and needs to be nerfed dramatically. However, I do think that the devs need address the fact that this perk HURTS solo survivors far more than swf.
This perk is efectively useless against a good swf lobby because your team can simply call out the killer's location and they can even let you know where your plaything totem is or is not. Solo survivors, on the other hand, cannot benefit from any of this. For solo survivors, the killer is effectively a full stealth killer until they find and cleanse the totem: which they might not want to do if they suspect or know that pentimento is in play. Furthermore, I've noticed that hex plaything is one of the most consistent indicators that a killer is going to tunnel; which is a lot more difficult to survive or even delay when the killer is stealthy.
My suggestions is that the devs start by doubling the radius survivors can see the aura of their respective plaything totem. Then, if this isn't enough to reconcile the solo and swf experience, they should consider doing something more dramatic like auto removing/cleansing a survivors plaything totem once they are hooked a second time.
I'm also fine with them buffing the perk in other ways that proportionally impact solo survivors and swf: for example, they could add some built in slowdown like -5% (or whatever the appropriate number is) to all actions until the totem is cleansed. I just don't like how awful this perk feels when you play as a solo survivor when its essentially useless against swf. Thoughts?

Tbh if I had a nickel for everything in this game that disproportionately impacted solo survivors I'd have enough money to put myself through a coding degree move to Canada work there and fix it all
There's very little in this game that doesn't hurt solo.

I use Plaything to force SWFs into Catch 22s.
The reality is that the average person does not have the awareness to play under Oblivious, that is the bigger deal than Solos not being on the same page regarding "cleanse or dont"

Tbf oblivious doesn't remove the red stain so you still have a heads up, and I say this without any offense to it, you can see the killer.
I personally even in soloQ do not bother to cleanse plaything. Mainly because its usually paired with pentimento, which is actually very dangerous. And secondly because just looking around tends to negate the effects of oblivious.
Of course on hawkings or other infoor maps it is way more effective but in outdoor maps oblivious should not really guarantee a sneak attack.

No offense taken. And you're right, there's a lot of scenarios where there is counter play against plaything. That's why I don't think it's OP. I'm just saying that the devs should try to make the perk impact solo survivors and swf equally.

Completely agree
Now, if we all know, and we’re just somewhat casual enjoyers of DBD, wouldn’t it be safe to acknowledge that the Devs who created this game probably (absolutely) have to know these things about which we converse here, daily.
So why aren’t changes made sooner (or at all) to everything we know to need changes… even the most trivial of things in this game that need adjustments.
I’m not even going to end that last sentence with a ‘?’
Edit: It’s just kinda weird. Maybe all developers just have special agendas that we as players aren’t supposed to concern ourselves with, idk.
but playing this game, we can only wonder

I've been saying that for the longest. I find it a very disengaging perk.

Blindness has more of a disparity for solos than oblivious. Knick Out and 3rd Seal are stupidly broken vs solos and laughable vs swf.
