Perhaps my friend you can help me understand this.
For people to say Freddy is an incredibly weak killer, power level wise, chase abilities/Anti loop/Mobility how is he performing so well? Other than your amazing gameplay and the other few Freddy mains 😍

All killers are decent when you get to know how to play killer in general. It does help depending on the power but knowing your killer plus knowing how to play killer makes all the difference its the reason even at all different lobby sizes and mmr the good killers will shine. Same reason people like otz can go on long streaks with any killer its just knowing how to create pressure.

Freddy players who stick with him are generally pretty into the game so I'd say he tends to be played by better players. He's also less common in the pool so a lot of people don't know how to vs him.

- Killers that have any layer of their power that is not just very basic (like Huntress, Wraith, etc.) tend to dominate weak Survivors, becaues they simply don't understand what they should do and how their power fully works. While being asleep isn't really a big deal, add that you are not good in the game and maybe you are casual and its pretty much free win for any bit complex power.
- Less people play him so the more dedicated ones in high MMR will do better with him or play more seriously.

- A lot of people dont know he exists, so they are irritated when they load up a match and find themselve in some grey filter-world.
- People like me who played him 500+ hours know how to use him at the highest possible level for him
- People love Terror-Radius. Freddy only has one when you are awake. A lot of people are "searching" for him, which direction he is coming from and offer you a free hit
- His synergy with Gen-Perks (especially Dead Mans Switch and Pop)
- He has a passive slowdown (Alarm Clocks)
- Good Freddy Players are rarely use the teleport, but fake the teleport massively, which buys time
- Over time the resources of the map are dead
Most important: When only a few players play him, you will mostly face good Freddys (same on Artist).
If every noob is playing a killer like Huntress or Blight etc., you see and feel massive differences in skill

Freddy in general is stronger than given credit for. He's one of the best users of Pain Res + PGTW because of his generator teleport. Being able to fake the TP is another decent slowdown ability, using BBQ to tell if the survivor is staying on the generator or fleeing and taking advantage of that to go for another survivor. Rapid + STBFL is incredible for him too because one of his biggest weaknesses is survivors holding W, and both of those perks allow Freddy to use his snares to his fullest potential if the survivor doesn't have enough time to make it to a better tile. The snares are pretty situational though since you have to land a first hit on the survivor first, but once those snares start working Freddy can be tough to outplay.
Pallet Freddy is probably the weakest killer in the game though, especially with the newer maps not allowing for placing pallets until they get broken. Snare Freddy is decent.

It is funny, isn't it? Out of all versions of Freddy this one we have right now is the weakest and easily the most boring. And yet, data makes it look like he is in a good spot.

That's one of the great mysteries in live. It's undeniable that Freddy is weaker than most killers but still for some strange reason, his kill rate is higher than most.
I see 3 possible reasons for that.
- Freddy is not very distinct from other killers. So the only reason to play him is because you like the character. This naturally means, that not many will play him. The ones that do play him however have more of a reason to main him as well and little to distract them from learning the fundamental game mechanics, which many people struggle with because they spend more time learning specific parts of the game like certain killer powers. So the Freddy mains might perform better because they simply play pretty good.
- Survivors often underestimate him. How many times have you seen survivors do dumb ######### against top tier killers? Probably not that often. How often does that happen against killers that are perceived as weak? A lot more. I play Freddy somewhat regularly and I'm always amazed by how many survivors that otherwise play well get cocky as the match progresses and give me easy openings to make a comeback.
- He combines everything that beginners have trouble dealing with. Mobility, anti loop and a side objective. Especially to beginners this can be quite overwhelming because these affect the very basics of the game. They won't know that Freddy's mobility isn't actually that dangerous or that has no power against them for as long as they remain awake. They also might not know when to go for alarm clocks and when to wake up each other, or that failing a skill check wakes you up.

Fake-Teleports all the time, whenever you csn, especially on the tinkerer-gens. Coupe synergyzes with the Snares, if you place them correctly.

The reason is that people forgot how to counter him.
And that the people playing him are probably very dedicated Freddy mains.

Lots of good answers in here, but I think its actually a different reason.
Freddy's kill rate is the same reason that Nurse's kill rate is low, difficulty of playing the killer. Many killers try to use their power when they should just M1. While a cracked Blight can rush and down all the survivors within minutes of match start, there are Blights out there failing to connect their rushes. Huntress can hit cross map hatchets, but also some end up wasting time throwing hatchets into walls.
Many killers end up wasting time trying to use their power when going for an M1 would be more than sufficient. Freddy is an M1 killer with one pretty weak power that is quick to deploy and a second power that is simple, easy to use, and allows you to cover the map. His skill ceiling is not super high, but its also not that hard to play him.
Basically: his design means players can't screw the game up for themselves.

I reread my post a few times and I think I see where there is a misunderstanding. I wrote:

This isn't to imply that Freddy's kill rate is low. The thread already establishes that his kill rate is high so I didn't think it needed to be repeated. Still, I should have written: "Freddy's kill rate (63%) is high for the same reason that Nurse's kill rate (55%) is low."
Both Freddy and Nurse's kill rates confuse people who think the rates should be reversed. I think the reason why is the same: many players end up wasting time trying to succeed with their power when an M1 (on a normal speed killer) would be quicker.

perfect example of how kill-rate /= win-rate.
Combining his 4k and 3k ratio, he wins 50% of the time and loses 50% of the time. He is 10% below expected win-rate of 60/40 while having 60% kill-rate. that is how dev deceive you in thinking that all those killer with high kill-rate are in a "good spot".

And for clarification
60% killrates means that killer have 4k in 1 of 5 matches, and 4 are draws with 2 kills.
This also means that in those 4 "draw" matches, 2 survivors won do each survivor wins 2 trials (1st, 2nd / 2nd, 3rd / 3rd, 4th / 4th, 1st).
So 60% killrates is 1 4k for killer, and 2 wins for each pair of survivors for every 5 matches.
If my math is wrong (it may be, i hanvt slept two nights already) pls tell me

A 60% kill rate could mean those numbers, but they could mean a lot of other numbers. It could mean 6 4ks and 4 4es.
4 ks are the most common game result. Nightlight's kill rate data is overall a little lower than BHVR's, but even there 4ks are about a 1 out of 3 games.

As others have said, he's kinda rare so the newbies won't know what he can do nor how to verse him, and those precious few maining Freddy have likely mastered him.
