Each generator can only have 8 "regression events" before they can't be regressed anymore. Meaning each gen can at best be kicked 8 times.

I've come across 1 killer who tried to do the 3-gen strategy. This Trapper attempted a heavy setup in Sheltered Woods, but this was countered by hit-and-run tactics on the gens. Just kept alternating the gens to get past the 8 charge mark and he soon ran out of kicks.
Just chip away at it and it becomes undefendable. This was me as SoloQ, so it shows people can be on the same page. If you play as a SWF then this is much easier to achieve, but SoloQ is also effective.

Each gen can only be kicked 8 times, it isn't that hard to break a 3 gen nowadays.

I was SoloQ last night and I was there for a good 10 minutes tryna break the 3 gen lock vs gunslinger, all 3 gens were 10s walking distance between each other, we eventually got it done but sheesh it was rediculous and got to the point where it started to feel so boring to do.

Generators System Update
The 3-gen strategy (identifying the closest 3 Generators and defending only them) has become very strong, especially on certain Killers. This can lead to very long games and frustration. To help prevent such situations, the following now applies:
- Each Generator can only suffer 8 regression events maximum.
- After the max has been reached on a Generator, that Generator can no longer be regressed by the Killer (including kicks, Add-ons, and Perk-related regressions).
- Number of regressions per Generator is indicated by increasing VFX after 3 or more regression events.
- Gens at max regression events cannot regress by the Killer (including kicks, Add-ons, and Perk-related regressions).
- Survivors failing Skill Checks still regress Generators normally and do not count as regression events.
- Killer kick regression is increased from 2.5% to 5%.
- "Gen tapping" is no longer possible. To stop a Generator from regressing, a Survivor must repair 5% of the Generator.
- Regression does not occur while repairs are in progress.

Dull merchant can still camp 3 gens well some maps they are side by side and she camps usually them at start.

Any killer can do that, but the point is that you will eventually win. The killer in these scenarios has a few options:
- Commit to the chase
- Do not commit to the chase
If they commit to the chase, you simply have the other survivors finish the gens, and no problem there.
If they don't commit to the chase, 1 of 2 things happens:
- They kick the gen
- They do not kick the gen
If they kick the gen, you just repeat the scenario, and eventually they run out of gen kicks and then they cannot kick the gen and you move on to the "they did not kick the gen" step.
If they don't kick the gen, your progress on that gen is permanent and will continue to increase until eventually the gen is complete.

Any killer can camp a 3gen. But holding them is a different story and as far as I am concerned there is not a single killer that can really hold a 3gen in a problematic way anymore.
Problematic meaning, that it was possible to hold the game hostage / drag it out for all eternity without actually progressing. As much as I hate SM, that part is gone. She can't work around the 8 regression events, so she can't hold 3 gens anymore, if she doesn't end her chases, which was exactly what the devs wanted to achieve. This goes for every other killer too.
I get that it becomes a drag after a while but this isn't an easy thing to fix, if we're honest. 3gens will always favor the killer because they reduce the area they have to patrol, which is honestly fair with the 8 regression events limit. If they try to hold a 3gen from the start, then it helps a lot, if you can bait out a few kicks on them before the other gens are done. Do that a few times and the killer won't be able to make much use of their 3gen.
When it actually comes to the point where only these 3 gens remain, then spreading out is a sure way to force the killer to either commit to a chase and abandon the gens or waste their remaining regression events.

I think the fact that 3 genning exists is just hella boring tbh.
Should be some sort of minigame we can decide to do instead vs the killer instead of having to 3 gen lol.

may not be your fault but it's your teams fault. Try using dejavu and getting rid of the 3 gen early on. Otherwise after 8 kicks it will be blocked anyways

The issue isn't specifically 3 genning, it's that 3 genning is boring.

I do not know if its just me but I feel like every since unknown release in every map every gen is spawning literally right next to each other. No matter how careful you are on gens its seem some how the game is literally setting 3 gens situations from the beginning of a match and killers seems to be abusing this and will already start 3 gen camping even if not a single one popped.

I don't notice 3 genning happening too often ATM but I have noticed that open area maps are more common for some reason, I've also only played the new map once so far and I have been getting stuck on invisible walls more often during chases and not when I'm not being chased, it's weird atm.
The gens in the middle of the map usually have 0 cover for me too for some reason. Very strange indeed lol.

I disagree. It was boring when the match could be stalled for 20+ minutes that way but now you get the 8 regression events out of the way pretty quickly and then the killer either loses before it can really become boring or they abandon their 3gen and chase.
I personally would prefer this not having to play around 3gens (because then I could turn off my brain when playing survivor) but I would also prefer if survivors didn't use check spots around the shack and other strong tiles. The game often feels boring when your opponent is in a favorable position but not all of that should be "fixed".

That has an easy solution: Use Déjà Vu and be that silent hero that prevents their other teammates to make the mistake of leaving the killer the best last 3 gens the map generator can come up with. No more boring 3 gens and depending on the anti-3gen system to win.

Dull merchant has still her drones so she can still make it long long match before you get the gens done. Most survivor players don't have the patience for that and they eventually make mistake which lead to her getting down. 3 gen set up is still very rough in dead dawg saloon for example.

Dull merchant can easily make it far longer than 20 minutes if good 3 gen set up. So most survivors still don't have patience to beat that strat.

they mean thers a built in cap to how many times you can kick a gen. a cap added in specifically to prevent infinite 3 gens.

I really don't see how that would be possible. You aren't scanned when you work on a gen and you can always get back to the gen as soon as she leaves, make a bit of progress, force her to kick the gen again and repeat. If that is done on all 3 gens, then you break through pretty quickly.

The only time it was very difficult was a knight and theee ridiculously close gens. The gens were way too close in this specific scenario. Yes we made the 3 gen occur, but the Knight also did the 3 gen method of always being around those gens from the beginning.
Long story short the Knight can 3 gen easy still with certain conditions. This is one case so not an over encompassing one. I would say the big problem is still highly mobile Killers as they throw out any meaningful balance options.

The drones don't work when you work a gen, so how exactly is she able to make the match any longer than say, a knight, or something?

3 gens are beatable though I personally feel like some maps need to be a tad bit larger , gen spawns can sometimes be ridiculous with 4 gens right in close proximity , it draws the game out a bit but feels a little tight on certain maps where you basically can stand in one place and see multiple generators at once, I think they should take away the 8 kick limit and make the maps a little bigger to where 3 genning is possible but also beatable without giving the killer a punishment for doing their job

I don't get how that was "boring" though.
Its a high stakes game of plinking away at the gens right under the nose of the killer. Almost every attempt will force interaction with the killer and the goal is to distract the killer enough to complete the last gen as safely as possible.

The reason it was boring was because the killer could rotate between all 3 gens within 12 seconds, I even had a toolbox and deja vou, made no difference. Eventually we made it out but it took a survivor to eventually die and at least 5-10 minutes of this boring back and forth exchange.

Sounds like you want a patch fix to make it so Killers cannot 3 gen for 5-10 minutes even if your teammates caused the 3 gen.
I'm sorry that so much of your valuable time had been wasted trying to break that 3 gen. Although the devs has put into place a cap on regression events, the game clearly was not fast enough for you. I'm sure you could have used that time to do something more meaningful like find a cure for diseases or help the impoverished instead of trying to hold m1 in a computer game.

They might as well just remove regression in general at this point with how people don't want killers using any strategy around gens. Besides pop all the other gen kick perks have been nerfed into uselessness and kicks are limited to 8 (eruption uses 2 as well).
