How are we supposed to play fair against Unknown
Idk if this should be an issue about The Unknowns power blasting through the walls & ceilings but I find it ridiculous. It looks funny being put into the dying state, should this be acceptable? or should they change it a little bit.

Honestly hitting through walls and ceiling are so niche that its just not an issue.

Getting hit through the ceiling of all things sounds exceptionally rare.

I’d take hands of keyboard and just give them a standing ovation for that. Quite well done bit of mastery of their character.
16 -
That took skill. They needed their ears 👂 for that one. I feel it’s fine personally.
9 -
I mean he has to learn the places where this is possible and you have to learn where you have to dodge. Its really not that hard to counter, so it should stay
7 -
Yes, remove the skill expression of unknown. Every killer must be chucky levels of simplistic.
16 -
Let's not remove the skillful part of a killer.
10 -
My go to strategy is "If I were the killer...what would I do?" it surprisingly helps.
This killer was designed around splash damage. Looks like you faced an Unknown who had some confidence in his bounces.
Unknown is not an 115% Huntress who teleports.

Unknown's power is uniquely demanding in skill, both through bounce shouts and shots through walls, all the while requiring them to get at least three hits with the projectile which is rather easy to dodge when fired directly at a survivor. Their ability to get unique hits balances out the potential for their hits to give them no value without forcing survivors to spend time getting rid of Weakness or even changing how they optimally play to get rid of it. Removing pierce shots would not only make them less interesting, but would be bad balancing.

perhaps it's fair from a balance standpoint, but man does it feel bad
1 -
Does it really feel bad, though? I can't help but think "wow nice shot bud"
12 -
yeah, i mean, it definitely does.
Cuz you have to respect it, but you also can't take it wide because of his power not slowing him down immediately.

I find very strange how everyone is forgiving of the fact this killer can hit through walls, when it's clearly not intentional.
Could you imagine if they decreased the size of huntress Hatchets to a 10th of the size, but could hit survivors through solid walls as well? Even if it is very difficult it still would not be balanced.
They should make it more difficult to remove the weakened status effect and fix the are going through completely solid walls or ceilings. Splash damage against Half walls or where you can visibly see the survivor I would be fine getting hit through though. A killer shouldn't need to rely on bugs just because their power at base is not very dangerous needing to hit 3 times.

It is intentional though? If it wasn’t it would have been removed in the PTB.
We already have Pyramid Head who can hit through walls more consistently and easily than this guy can so I don’t see the problem.

people want all killer nerfed.
6 -
On no level is it unintentional, not as far as can be proven—and it's much more likely that this thing, which would obviously be the first thing you'd test with an AoE if you don't want it to go through walls, being in the game means it is meant to be. For WHAT reason do you believe it's unintentional?
Also, make removing weakened more difficult how? Isn't it good that it forces the killer to choose between taking unique, less direct routes, and choosing the more direct option for a potential M1 or tightly timed shot if they're confident? I, for one, greatly enjoy getting to put my skills as a stealth killer fan to use, and it's clearly how the Unknown is supposed to be played. Crazy shots through and around walls are maybe the most defining feature of the killer.0 -
i’m not asking for a nerf, it’s just funny how you get downed like that

What proof or evidence do you have that it is intentional?
A lot of killers have quirks to them that were not intentional. Some of them are just a logical consequence of how the power interacts with the game, some of them were clearly overlooked because people didn't learn or discover them before the PTB was released. Heck, sometimes things were present in the PTB that people despise but gets pushed to live anyway (*cough legion *cough).
If you like the killer alot, sure that is fine. But I don't see any reason to believe this is nothing more than a bug that lets the killer do interesting things. Just like Blight's hug tech (I hate the word tech) for instance, that is definitely not intended since the devs tweak it so often. Maybe the devs will decide they like the unknown being able to this that they polish it up or make it more clear that this is something the killer has the ability to do.0 -
We can argue that neither of us have proof all day but it makes a lot more sense to think they intended it or went "Hey, this is an AoE, we should see if it actually interacts with the environment properly" and decided they liked it rather than them SOMEHOW not considering "AoEs cover a large space which can include beyond walls" at ANY POINT, even when this function was discovered during the PTB. It is more logical to guess they intended or liked it than that they were too stupid to consider the fact that an AoE means it covers a large space.

In the launch stream for All Things Wicked, BHVR displayed a compilation of content creators' playing the PTB and doing trickshots with The Unknown's power, one of which was Otz landing a successful shot on a survivor through a wall. The Unknown was able to hit through walls on the PTB, it continued to be able to hit through walls on live, and BHVR used The Unknown hitting survivors through walls in its marketing for the chapter.
You, on the other hand, have no proof that it is an unintentional glitch other than "because I said so."

I find the 'skill expression' argument weird. On the one hand, sure, it is nice when players have options and can actually do something but on the other hand players need to be able to do something against it otherwise it is just a question of "Do I have the knowledge and precision to steamroll through the opposition or do I need another 100h playtime?" like Nurse, Blight, Billy and Artist are. The outright denial of discussion in the first few replies is ridiculous even if he might be fine or slightly overtuned.

We are not arguing, or at least I wasn't intending to. I have the opinion that it was not intentional, but Bhvr probably didn't see anything wrong with it. I never claimed they were stupid for this. Again a lot of things in this game were unintentional.
I think it would be better if solid walls that you cannot see through at all (I.e. lerys or Hawkins) prevented the aoe from damaging you. At the same time, I see no reason why a waist high wall or window would prevent you getting damaged. Again not trying to convince you this is superior, people are allowed to have opinions.

It is intentional, though. Unknowns power and add-ons reference UVXs Splash Zone because this killer was designed around the concept of "facing the unknown head on"
You have to walk up to Hallucinations, and taking UVX directly is equivalent to the "Eye of the Storm" by not taking direct damage.
The tips also mention needing to use odd angles and the bounce mechanic. If this killer was meant to hit you directly, he would only ever go for animation lock hits like Pyramid Head or zone you with his power(moreso than he already does now) like Chucky.

The AOE effect would be limited through the programming to not be allowed through walls. This is at a level that a random person off the street could do. With that I am sure they meant it to do as it does.

I think they need to change the fact you have to look at him to remove the effect he gives you, maybe make it slow degrading or something but unless your a skilled looper or know the map insanely well, your dead
0 -
Look at him while running away to get rid of his effect, and it’ll be gone before he get the next blast off- which causes a hit. Rinse and repeat as long as you can.
1 -
as it should be skilled players get the escape while bad players die
1 -
Its not a good idea to nerf the Unknown UVX. Its already used by to many Unknown players in the most boring way possible - to hit survivors only when they are locked in animations like dropping pallets and vaulting windows. I like this aspect, its definitely niche and requires quite some skill to pull of atleast.

TThat Would just encourage Unknowns to basic attack you if Weakened passively went down. It would also "weaken" his strategy of breaking Line of Sight in order to preserve Weakened effect.
At that point, this killer may as well be Trickster. Encouraging Survivors to make eye contact makes interacting with the killer appealing which I think is healthy.
