Prevent players from being matched with you again
I know this topic has probably been brought up many times in the past. But after so many years, can we now get a function (preferably in the overview after the game) where you can mark a player (similar to a block list) so that you can no longer be matched with them in the future.
It's just annoying to play again and again with the same people who commit instant suicide after a 20 second chase and the subsequent first hook. Or players who cheat, are racist, etc… these are also not worth my time and I would prefer to never come into contact with them again.
I have already learned that the "BLOCK" function in the overview after the game only has the function that these players can no longer send you a friend request → that's it.
I also know that the risk of implementing such a function would be extremely high that half the game would no longer work because it is probably very complex, but it would greatly increase the quality of the game if you no longer had to worry about such individuals .
Glad to see feedback.
Thank you!

Maybe an internal command where you can post notes for every killer and the player that are local and only you can see them ?
That way you will know if you played with someone and what they did before. This can also be used for good things.
-name- "face camped, slugged the last one for no reason"
-name- "stomped us but let 2 out"
-name-"went back to save me"

I wish… I would happily wait longer for a match if I could have a block list of players I never want to verse or be teamed with.
Sadly this will never happen

i mean maybe for other surviro but that cant work for killers. what hinders you to note what killers they play. if you face the same killer enough you see they only play the same three killers you can note that and counter the killer or just dodge

Yes, I mostly agree with that.
I have some small doubts that your mentioned function would be easier to develop, but it would still solve the problem because you would then simply leave the lobby if you play Killer.
As a survivor you would still have the problem because you can't see the killer's notes in the lobby because the killers profile isn't visible here.Yes, unfortunately I also have the same opinion. Probably won't have any priority.

Nevertheless, this also gives you a chance to remember who was a good player too. It's like a player history of good and bad deeds. It may reduce the overall avoidance between the players unlike a very clear block that would be abused by a lot of players and thus make matchmaking in certain regions even harder. Some players who may have played badly may end up changing for the better later.
I had games where I did pretty badly , enough for others to wish to never play with me again. But in other matches I went beyond what other normally do for teammates so it varies. With notes the players will gauge better if they will play or not against some. Block on the other hand is a brutal wall.

It's not a guarantee. Even if you write which killer they play they still can surprise you.

This would be where I draw the line and Uninstall this game the que times would be horrendous, it's already full of entitled people who think they're the greatest but then to top it off now we want to mark players with more skill so you can just shut your brain all the way off instead of half way and clog up the ques to protect people's feelings....I wish they would just remove names all together until the end so nobody dodges, people need to get over themselves they aren't some God at the game that's too good to play with other people and they shouldn't dodge because someone is better than them.

Well I guess you never read into any of those discussions talking about it but here goes
The block button used to stop you from getting matched with that player which on paper seemed like an ok idea but it ended up functioning as a player blacklist where if enough people block you especially survivors blocking killers for any minor reason you just don't get lobby's anymore, you don't get to play the game dbd canceled you
I won't ping them but I think at this point mandytalk (idk if its their name anymore but one of the mods) has a copy paste for this exact type of discussion about what happened to one poor nurse main under this system as a key example
Sure even with thousands of players it would take a while for it to start having a big impact but the likelihood you get matched with the same killer / survivor in a row is slim but if people always block you after every match for any niche reason (people will definitely start doing this as the meta) then it will slowly cripple the game

I think it would be cool if they tied it to the report system. That way they could have a means to track people who are using the block for frivolous reasons and take action against people doing it. If you report a player, you're blocked from being matched with them, but you also can't flood the system with false reports.

I've always felt like a limited blocklist could work. Like everyone has 5 people they can block. If you want to add another person to a full list then you need to remove someone already on there. So it'd be a very slim chance of someone feeling the effects of that, unless you were a super horrible person that everyone hated playing with.

That could work but it also could go very wrong.
What if you are a really good playand that fact alone puts you on peoples Hitliste? I can already see the reddit pages dedicated to making lists of players you should bloxk based on region and presummed mmr.
And how exactly does it even work is it all 5 for every survivor? Thats 20 players blocked. Where i live you always have super short killer qs the later it gets. So there are already not enough killers. And then we need to look at swf they would have a potent tool to manipulate there qs

So I could just block every single person that beat me?
This would be an absolute disaster if this was ever implemented.

It's funny how most of the repliers in the thread haven't even read what the OP has said. He means the ability to block other survivors in your survivor game, so that you will never be matched WITH them, not AGAINST them. Nobody is saying anything about "blocking someone who beat me", unless, of course, you are talking about typical soloQ 1v1v1v1v1, where your teammates are more threatening the killer and can literally beat you before the killer.

The queue system would suffer horribly if such a system was implemented. Playing with friends would also allow an explosive number of blocks. E G I have killers 1,2,3,4,5 blocked and my teammate has killers 6,7,8,9,10 blocked. Even though we each only have 5 options if we play together the block list for our team is 10 players long. The MMR system combined with player availability is already kind of bad at times, layer in block lists and it gets even worse.

This.
Any player blocking feature would be soooooo open to abuse, even a limited fashion, and queue times would also suffer. Nope.

It absolutely would be. Before dedicated servers there use to be a similar program people could use but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. It only showed whether you had that person, or their ip, on a block list if I remember right. But some people would write things down and make list.
Either way I remember end game discussions of people blocking nurses, blocking survivors with flashlights, etc..
Edit: from what I read it didn't actually show ip address but worked a different way and was called MLGA

Definitely a bad idea
i would 100% block every single survivor who rage quit when the match is still winnable.

This doesn't matter because those people aren't so good at the game they deserve some sort of pass, they aren't too good to play with others they're matched with, I guarantee anyone complaining about this would be just as easy of a two tap as the person they're complaining about, they're just clogging the ques while blaming everyone else for them dying

Thank you for the many answers! Much appreciated!
My goal was to propose a feature idea to ban players who harbor offensive behavior or fraudulent intentions from in-person matchmaking. However, since in this game it is usually in the direction of players using functions for their personal advantage (e.g. removing players with high MMR or targeted streamers in order to increase their own win rate), this approach would definitely backfire, I understand that. That was also the predominant answer here in the thread for what the function would be used for.
That's a shame, because it also reflects that the majority of players use every possible advantage to decide the match in their favor. This is one of the reasons why Dead by Daylight has such a high problem with cheaters, every advantage is used, some draw the line earlier, others don't at all. I wish it were different.
The approach of limiting a block list to a limited number of player slots (block list volume), for example 100, would help somewhat, but players would still exploit it for their own advantage and that misses the actual idea of this function.
Therefore, the basic problems must be addressed individually at some point in the future in order to be prevented globally (first hook suicide, cheaters, etc...) But I assume that this is not a priority for now, there are other areas of work.
It's a learning for me. Now I understand BHVR better why various things cannot be implemented, as you always have to keep in mind how players could misuse various functions.
Anyway, thanks again for all the feedback, it's always nice to see different perspectives on a topic :)

I agree and would personally love this feature but know it would be abused. I would love to see a "quitter's queue" where players who kill themselves on hook, DC or AFK as killer/survivor, or are otherwise garner many reports in a short span of time are matched with similar players until results improve. There are flaws in this system too (potential for abuse by false report, increasing queue times) but I don't think a perfect system would ever exist.
