i dont see why people want an ingame vc for solo q
most people either wont use it, or will be toxic
and hypothetically lets say they all used it and noone was toxic, theres no proper callouts for maps unless we're talking about the comp clock system or wtv it is, which would mean basically every player would have something new to learn.
and yes they could say "i dropped shack pallet dont use shack." or "killer proxy camping me" or "killers chasing me" but alot of this you can know by either having a perk equiped or looking at the HUD no?
but realistically how id see it going is like this
"i dropped shack pallet"
"whyd you drop shack you moron, we still have 3 gens left and you dropped shack??"
or "its skull merchant im gonna dc now"
"dont DC please we can win this"
"F off mate, im gonna DC"
or more toxicty towards killers, granted the killers more than likely wouldnt be able to hear survs but still, creates a toxic enviroment.
or say someone has a bad mic or an annoying voice, yes obviously there would probably be a mute button, but not everyone uses those.
so while trying to listen to say, the spirits phase. you have a low humming noise, or someone screaming down the mic about how a certain pallet is dropped.
of course there would be some good every so often, a few wholesome "nice looping ur doing great" or something like that every so often, but we all know how the DBD community can be.
i dont think there should be an in-game vc. i think we just need a few more basekit stuff like basekit kindred.

agreed. It wouldn’t solve the current problems and would introduce way too many new problems to justify it.
but we all know how the DBD community can be
nah. It’s the gaming community. And people in general. It’s really not specific to DbD at all - and there are plenty of wholesome people out there playing this game as well but toxicity stands out more.

yeah thats true. gaming as a whole has gotten toxic, it always has been but like, now its toxic over stupid stuff yk.
and yeah its introduce way to many problems and whatnot.
i wish the positive parts of gaming stood out more tbh, its so nice when i get told that i did a good job looping for 5 gens instead of getting insulted for going down to quick"

People often bring up vc as the solution to balancing around swf but always fail to forget this wouldn’t be able to work on switch, who cannot have vc. There are language barriers, too. So by design this would have to be optional, and you can’t balance around it.
Plus, yeah, I don’t get why people would want to vc on this game anyways, this community is rough. People are petty over the tiniest things (as you mentioned!)
1 -
Ok but it has so much potential for funny moments and thats all it takes to make me on board
1 -
fr it would only rlly work on console and pc and only in american servers, europe has a huge language barrier.
also can you imagine streamers using it??? you drop shack pallet and suddenly ur teammate drops a slur getting u banned on twitch.
1 -
that is true…………………………………….
okay im on board

I said it before but I really don't need to listen to some 13 years old screaming slurs into their vacuum cleaner or a more refined person coming up with 50 different ways to tell to end my life. That's already bad enough in the end game chat.
I wouldn't use it and I think a lot of others wouldn't use it either. This however would lead to toxicity from the ones that do use voice chat. Likely because it's not half as fun showing off your eloquence in regards to slurs and hate speech when nobody is listening.
4 -
Yeah, I agree. Stealth killers have small auditory tells too, which will be hard to hear with people chattering in your ear. And if you opt out of using it (because insults, slurs, sexism, racism - take your pick) then any complaints you have about the game will just be dismissed as 'well, too bad. Your fault for not using voice chat.' Also I'm in Western Australia and apparently we are closer to the Asia server because I play with alot of folks from over there based on usernames. I imagine language would be a barrier as well.

The short of it is that introducing voice-chat creates way more issues than it solves.
1 -
if we get in game vc im maining Freddy and calling everyone ######### throughout my matches
2 -
Having spent years interacting with the DBD community I can safely say that I NEVER want voice chat in this game lol
2 -
with how people are in this community you’d get the people who throw games because they find out their teammates aren’t using mics
1 -
I think every game should have a choice to use mic or not. it still aggravates me that almost 8 years later dbd still doesn’t have it
3 -
BHVR can't even handle keeping the game stable. Adding VC would really screw things up lol
1 -
Now maybe this is a radical idea around here, but some of us just think it'd be fun. The idea killer being able to listen in and screw with survs on comm (like on F13) would be fun.
1 -
here are some common examples that you think might not be significant but can change the outcome of the match
"dont pop that gen yet i have adrenaline let me get downed"
"my deliverance is active dont come"
"let me tank i have OTR"
"come to this locker i can head on"
"he's coming to you from main"
"he has undetectable"
"careful mirror myers"
"get off gen he's about to hook"
"my self unhook bar is at 90% leave"
"he placed a trap (somewhere)"
"im gonna run through hag's web"
"dont bring the killer to (location)"
"lets reset there quickly"
you can know by either having a perk equiped
so you're saying solo survivors should have to use perks to compensate for lack of voice comms
looking at the HUD no?
none of these common examples can be known by looking at the hud
voice communications are not to just let others know what you and the killer are doing, it's also to plan and work together
the possibility of toxic kids and the fact that players may have to learn a little bit more terminology (really not needed for a game as simple as this, dbd is not siege) to be slightly more efficient doesn't mean solo survivor should be the worst role in the game while the game's balanced for swf. also the mute option will obviously exist so it's completely optional.

yes dont get me wrong there would be some amazing benefits, but i do think the bad outweighs the good here.
i dont see why survvs shouldnt have to use a perk to compensate for voice comms, they already use perks for alot of other things.
and you can know alot by looking at the hook for example, is the killer chasing somone, chasing someone off a gen, is adren abt to pop etc. i think we need alot more for the hud dont get me wrong, and as i said more basekit stuff like kindred.
but i really dont see a point for voice comms, maybe one in ten matches youll get value, then the other 9 youll get told to frontflip of a bridge onto concrete.
and i do feel voice comms would ruin the immersion aswell unless its proxy, and yes i know, they game isnt really about immersion but still.

Not having vc doesn't magically solve the issue of toxic players they just type instead of saying something in voice. I would gladly deal with problematic people in vc knowing I can just open a ticket and get them bye bye from the game asap.
2 -
toxicity isnt the only problem itd cause imo. as i said in my post, imagine trying to hear sound qs like huntress wind up, spirt phase etc when ppl are talking and more.
also i would rather deal w ppl typing stuff than saying it.
because when they type it theres more proof no?
and lets be real here, BHVR dont really ban people often, esp not just for toxicity afaik. so.

I do not wish or want voice chat in DbD. If it would be ever added I would have it muted.
Nothing good would come out of it. The outcome of negative things people would say towards you compare to positive outcomes would be very one sided towards negativity.
2 -
agreed. the chance of being called a slur, being told to off yourself etc, is alot higher than being told "good job for looping"
0 -
I’d really rather not have to put up with barrages of music, slurs, screaming and other colourful language just to coordinate slightly better.
Which then also leads to any and all balance takes regarding soloQ to be dismissed with “u shuld play with vc 4head”.
I’d rather just not open that can of worms.
2 -
TCM has a VC and nobody complains about it.
For those who don't want to deal with it, simply turn off the microphone/sound, it's that simple
4 -
Just pre-written phrases would be enough.
"I am hiding from Killer"
"Killer is at Shack"
"I am going for a save"
"I will keep repairing"
"Looking for a totem"
"I will heal by myself"
"Thank you"
"Beware!"etc..

I certainly know my stupid voice coming from my Kate would make her seriously less cool... and I don't wanna cramp her style.
0 -
I wouldn't use it, and sadly there will be some players who will take offense and grieve me because of it.
Besides, one of the reasons people play in Solo Q is to enjoy that sensation of being in a mini slasher movie, where you're on your own and need to rely on wits alone, all the while enjoying the atmosphere.
The atmosphere is gonna be shattered when some little turd can be heard nearby saying" "I'm gonna gobble you up!", or another going "OMG! You such a No00ooo0bb", before being flatten by running straight into the killer.
Nah, this isn't the thing for me.
0 -
why are so mnay people here against it solely because it ruins the immersion or toxicity? just mute, you dont have to be a part of the vc. yeah some teammates might get frustrated because you arent communicating, but how are they gonna tell you they're frustrated if they cant talk to you? sandbag? we already have that and reports
i dont see why survvs shouldnt have to use a perk to compensate for voice comms, they already use perks for alot of other things.
you literally answered your own question.
1 -
agreed
pre written stuff would be very helpful imo, have it replace one of the emote buttons and pull up a wheel so you can choose what you want, like overwatch has.
1 -
okay but as others have stated it will make any discussions about balancing even more annoying as everyone will ask "did u have vc on?""no? your fault shouldve had it on."
you literally answered your own question.
i dont see how i did (not saying i didnt, just saying that i dont see how i awnsered my own question)

It works in most the games it's implemented, I don't see why this would be any different.
Yeah you get some toxic people, that's every game, who cares. One button click mute if they're annoying or toxic, problem solved. There are much more callouts than just using the clock system. Shack, main building, crane, bus ect.
When it's so easy to turn on/off or mute someone I don't see there as being any downside.

I remember watching a gameplay series from Friday the 13th: The Game, which had voice chat for all players.
Few thing I can remember:
• Different languages
• Jason blasting loud music through the mic.
• Barely anyone used it.
Honestly, seeing your teammates perks and few prewritten callouts would be enough
