Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Certain killers should have different pallet breaking speeds

One thing that makes a killer like Blight so oppressive is his zoning. This strength comes from the fact that he is able to break a pallet without his power (which can be intensified even further by using Brutal Strength) and then being able to instantly rush and hit the zoned survivor. Additionally, this zone-heavy play-style has been made stronger and more popular by multiple recent changes. Such as the nerf to Blighted Rat and Blighted Crow, and the removal of "Hug Tech".

My suggestion is that in exchange for a longer pallet break speed, I think it would be okay for Blight to receive one of the two following buffs :

1. Buff Blighted Rat and Crow. This buff does not need to bring them back to their original values of 4% and 6%, instead I think a middle ground of 3% and 5% would be significant enough without making him as oppressive before his initial nerfs.

2. Remove all speed add-ons in exchange for a basekit consecutive rush-speed. Anything around 5-6% speed increase per rush would be a welcome change.

Blight does not need to be the odd one out in this scenario. I think other killers like Hillbilly, Pyramidhead, and Artist — who all have very strong powers with high skill ceilings, but unfortunately are also subject to the same fate as Blight as to where simply breaking the pallet and zoning is often more favorable (to the majority of players who do not have hundreds or thousands of hours on said characters) than using their power to get a hit. Besides Billy, I think Artist and Pyramidhead are both in need of some basekit buffs. And decreasing their pallet break speed could allow the game developers to have more space to buff their powers without having to worry about them becoming overtuned.

This change can also be implemented in the opposite way, with some killers having faster pallet breaking speeds. Trapper, Myers, Hag, Pig, Ghostface, are all relatively weak killers who struggle to get any sort of value out of their powers when playing against good players. An increase to their pallet breaking speed could serve as either a temporary fix until these killers are buffed meaningly, or as a more long term solution if the developers (rightfully) want some killers to remain weaker than others.

In the future, new killers would not need to have their powers be so limited IF the developers would be able to change their pallet breaking speed to allow for more dynamic and interesting power design.

Not really. Compound 33 was legit an add-on that made you break pallets in 1.5 seconds and allowed you to rush almost immediately after. Blight always had catch-up potencial after pallet break. It is main thing that makes him so powerful.

Iri tag which had infinity rushes was also powerful for exact same reason. bounce, bounce, bounce, zone into an m1 hit or sometimes m2 hit.

The removal of hug tech removed options for how to get hits. As a result, only thing left for blight is to do pallet break → use power between loop to get hits.

If they continue this thread with removing Wesker's Hug tech and Oni's 180 flick in demon fury, Those two killers are going to suffer same faith as blight. Break pallet →Use power to hit between loop.
