Buff: Circle of Healing

Context:
The current iteration of Circle of Healing promotes a healing safe zone for injured survivors. It notifies teammates the injured party is there, and allows them to rotate to heal them at a hastened pace. It can also be used aggressively in hot zones to recover from and launch repeated assaults on objectives. Unlike the original version of this perk, it is more teamwork-oriented and less self-serving as a perk (which I think is great).

Problem:
Despite being in a healthier state than it was, the perk has an issue where, although everyone knows where the injured survivor is, the injured survivor themselves has no idea where anyone else in most cases. This has led to very awkward moments where injured survivors will afk in the aura waiting for someone all game who is never coming at one extreme; while also leading to moments where the injured survivor gets impatient and runs away from someone coming to heal them at the other extreme.

Basically, the injured survivors obliviousness to whether or not someone is coming for them often leads to more anxiety, confusion and time wasted than safety, confidence and efficiency.

Proposed Solution/Buff:
While in the boons radius, let the injured survivor see the nearest allied survivor.

Buff Benefits:
Keeps the perk as the team-oriented perk that it is now, but reduces player made decision inefficiencies by letting the injured party know whether or not they should wait in the boon or do something else.

Potential Buff Cons:
None that I can think of.
If someone is nearby, this buff is inconsequential in terms of impactfulness since their location is already about to be known. if the nearest ally is far away, unless it gives information on a generator, they'll be too far to really make use of that information (since they could move by the time the injured party gets there). If the nearest ally is a bit closer than half-map away, the injured party should just wait anyway to make use of the healing boost; otherwise, if the healer is not coming, the injured party just knows where to go to get it at its normal healing speed.

Either way, I think this change would improve the perk's function and QoL without impacting game state too much.

Seems like a good idea to me. Helps with coordination without giving tons of info unrelated to the perk's purpose.

We like it. We will point it'll also work similar to empathy in that if the closest survivor is being chased it effectively tells where the killer is.

or just add self-care back into the perk. it will still be 32 second long as the boon does not grant raw healing speed. I probably wouldn't use it but at least it will feel less bad when your teammate brings the perk.

This would be viable even at the current SC self-healing speed. There are situations when that 35% speed is better than not being able to patch up in the first place while still encouraging other ways to heal

Adding a secondary Bond-like effect to prevent your teammates from wasting time in the Boon's radius is a great idea as well

literally this, like, was 22 seconds self-heal inside boon to OP?

Given that you have to find totem - takes time, bless it - takes time and killers could insta-snuff it?

And to heal you also have to bless another totem or go to specific spot on the map - if killer didn't snuff it out.

It would be fine if it only allowed the survivor with the CoH perk to self care in any CoH boon. That solves the 'only one survivor has to have it problem' so if the team wants to have everyone self heal, everyone has to run the perk.

Circle is just a dead perk and a waste of time to set up, especially since it saves 8 seconds off of an altruistic heal. So for 2 survivors, if it takes more than 4 seconds to run to the boon, you lose time over just healing where you meet up. And that doesn't count the hunting and setup/bless time.

Circle only had value because of the self care aspect, which is pretty clear from the usage rate after the nerf.

Given that you have to find totem - takes time, bless it - takes time and killers could insta-snuff it?

While I agree with you, I think I've seen maybe two killer players ever actually acknowledge that looking for the totem and blessing it take any time at all. Meanwhile, the entire time circle was meta, you'd think it was a 90 second progress bar to snuff it the way people complained about 'valuable time to snuff'.

Totems have consistent spawns in most maps. The time to find one is negligible as they are near or on the way to objectives.

The killer doesn't look at a totem and it shatters into a cloud of dust. They have to find it, navigate to it and snuff it. The snuff action takes one second. Combined with how fiddly the hitboxes are it usually ended up taking 2-3s total. 2-3 seconds of killer time is 8-12s of survivor time. If it's somewhere like the upper floor of MacMillan, the harvester on coldwind or when the totem spawns upstairs on lerys the time advantage is pretty favorable for survivors. The killer either snuffs the totem or injuries don't matter anymore. A lot of the time you didn't have time to snuff the totem even if you knew where it was. Giving the entire team better self care contingent on blessing a totem is extremely powerful and punts circle back into an s tier perk. No thank you. Maybe with basekit shattered hope.

Seems like you are kinda biased, because why "time to find one is negligible" but only for survivors?

Boons also have sound+visual cue so finding booned totem is easier than finding dull one.

    Maybe with basekit shattered hope.

I mean, ok? But how basekit shattered hope is going to solve all the issues you've mentioned?

Sounds like a really reasonable buff actually. It'd stop those occasions of endlessly teabagging and pointing in random directions until someone comes to heal me at least.

    I like it!

If we may put it a more favorable light: Only 1 survivor out of 4 needs to spend that time which means one would leave every survivor with the boon while 2-3 others have been working. Since most totem spawns are easily memorized or if a map or perk is in play, this time is often short unless they go somewhere like the top of coal tower or Eyre of crows. If they wanted to snuff the boon the killer needs to go and find it, which could be anywhere as they don't know. If it's in a spot like the top of eye of crows, the single killer has to waste the time to get up there and snuff it while 4 survivors are working unimpeded. A single survivor can then relight it like at the start. Basically killers time is worth more cause there's only 1 killer v 4 survivors.

The shattered hope basket would remove the scenarios of survivors repeatedly lighting totems in spots like the top of the tower.

Yeah I'm biased toward not having to go snuff ten boons every game or losing all pressure via injury. Been there. Done that. It sucked. Everybody's got stuff they do and do not like, bias is inherent to any thinking being. The question is whether or not it clouds your judgement and I am speaking from experience. The other delightfully strange poster explained the other bits better than I can.

That also being said, I love boons. I've gotta be one of the only people bringing overzealous and a full boon build and I think it's hugely underrated. I could get behind an AoE buff or something. But not bringing the most problematic aspects of Circle back.
