How are you supposed to counter flashbangs?

I kept getting blinded when I wasn't facing the flash bang, tried facing the wall but there is literally no counter. Couldn't pick anyone up the entire match because of this item and had to leave. Literally everything I did I was still getting blinded so what's the point.

I know most will say otherwise but this is why I've started running lightborn once background player became popular with flashbangs.

The 'just pick up at walls' crowd doesn't know the struggle of doing so and still getting denied because the flashbang radius is either bugged or intentionally messed up enough to get blinds at walls. I'd rather play a match risking it with just 3 perks getting value than deal with it at this point.

Oddly enough flashbangs have never been a problem to me, and i don't use Lightborn, which if is that bad of an issue, would run, Flashbangs have a small timer, but from what i've seen a small blindness radius, so if you see or hear them drop it, just try turning away as fast as possible, or facing a wall or any other object when picking up a survivor

I think it would be fine if the survivor wasnt able to run into the killers model to plant the flashbang in their butt.

No wonder they drop the survivor after it goes off.

You have to bait the pickup, now if they have background player, you are pretty much screwed unless you have lightborn

I run lightborn every now and then if I get the vibe. Like a flashlight or 2 with flashy cosmetics

"Just pick up at walls" is currently bugged, because survivors can clip through the killer, and drop the flashbang while overlapping with the killer, which works even if the killer is facing a wall.

for a flashbang? gotta look up.

no real way to counter it at pick up besides finding the people that are around and smacking them

Looking at the wall never worked for a flashbang anyway because it's radius not visual like the flashlight, I personally believe you should be exhausted while holding the flashbang due to being able to have it repeatedly and background player almost forcing you to have lightborn in those situations but then you have to ask yourself is it really worth it to bring lightborn for the small chance of them having that? I personally find enjoyment from beating them without it and out witting them at their own game of trying to always be around for the save, I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like they never get the save but I like the challenge and the adrenaline rush from both sides making big plays in crucial moments

The same way you counter flash lights, which is checking the area around before pick up. There's counter play.

What does not have counter play is Background Player. With that it's unrealistic to check the area and with a Flashbang you can't even look at a wall to avoid it..if you even have a wall.

The problem is Background Player not having counter play, not as much Flashbang.

Flashbang shouldn't have the double radius feature it currently has. There shouldn't be an inner radius, where it doesn't matter which direction the killer is facing. If a killer is directly next to and is facing a wall, that should 100% be good enough to protect them from flashlights and flashbangs.

I also don't understand this "small chance" statement. There are SO MANY people in my games that do this. I really don't know what other people's games look like, but my games are very often dealing with coordinated SWFs that are very obviously using voice comms to coordinate stuff.

If it's bgp there is basically nothing you can do besides hope they run out of flashbangs or miss the timing

There is no counter. Killer players just have to suck it up and deal with it, I guess. It's very frustrating, but like with every other issue in this game, it's not going to get attention unless enough people complain about it and/or stop playing until it gets resolved.

If it’s common in your matches, don’t feel bad to just start slugging them. It works great if you are good at getting quick downs. You’d probably have to play a higher tier killer to do it well.

It sucks to have to bring in a perk for it but Lightborn is an option.

Good to know it's a bug then, I was going nuts after 10 straight games of it.

I guarantee I deal with just as much swf as you do I just enjoy sweating for a W and not everyone enjoys that which is why I dabble in the ladder also aside from regular games , but that's besides the point we're talking about the flashbang background player combo , it's not in every single game you play you're lying if you act like it is, flashbang has always blinded even when facing walls the firecrackers work the same in fact that's why even as a survivor if you're anywhere near a teammate dropping one it doesn't matter if you're not looking at it you'll get Blinded in that radius I'm not defending it either like I said earlier it needs some sort of solution to that combo,

I'm fairly sure the amount of complaining about background player, has skyrocketed through the roof, ever since the clipping bug started happening. BHVR should be fixing this bug.

Yes you're right that's when alot of people realized the strength, BHVR needs to fix the clipping issue so they can properly adjust the radius to where people can't get Blinded from a flashbang that's either directly beside them or close behind them and it would be resolved totally on both ends I really don't get why things like this take a long time to fix but if we have space billy or space hag in the game they have to cut all funding to anything else and direct it all towards taking a fun bug away that isn't giving people a real advantage
