Is something wrong with mmr?
Hello.
What is going on with the mmr? Im an pretty average player (150 hours). And recently i have been going against really strong killers, one of the killers i went against was a p100 doctor..
I used to go against killers around my lvl but recently i loose every match and it is kind of frustrating.

Sounds like you've been backfilled out of your MMR area. As players dodge lobbies (killers and survs) and your lobby waits and waits, the acceptable range of MMR widens. And if players are waiting long enough their system just grabs the next available person and throws them on in.
Prolly what happened to you.

Could be softcap too. I feel like that's what my issue has been lately. I've got like 550 hours spanned from 2016 to now and I am as average as it gets on killer and survivor, but that's the biggest chunk of the mmr, and there's a wide variety of player skill levels in that.

it's quite easy to get to soft cap with just a few dozen hours if you escape decently consistently.
the numbers i've heard from other people is that escapes give +20 mmr, deaths give -20 mmr, the starting MMR is 900, and the soft cap is 1600. so, you need to get 35 more escapes than deaths. with those numbers if you have a 60% escape rate and play 4 survivor games an hour (which isn't entirely unreasonable) you can hit the soft cap in less than 45 hours of play.

For me it's been the other way around. I've probably survived a bit more often, whereas I've hardly won a match as Killer.
That said, I've only been playing Chaos Shuffle and it does seem to me that the extra mode has meant longer queues and some very uneven match making. I'm not sure the game has the numbers to support more than one queue, which is a real shame as I've generally enjoyed Chaos Shuffle more than the main game when the matches have been competitive.
Edit: Well, I just got an Artist and two Blights that were obviously way above of my usual MMR and it was zero fun whatsoever. Must be because it's the last day of Chaos Shuffle and only the try-hards are still playing.

It's always going to be a slot machine as far as matchmaking goes. They hide MMR for a reason, and it's not the cop out "player toxicity" reason. The system wildly favors queue times over a playable experience.

Everything's wrong with mmr. As others said, they prefer low queue times, so it's not a fair matchmaking most of the times. It never worked well for casual players..

It doesn't work well for more competitive players either. It's just terrible all around. You get 1 or 2 survivors who could play in DbD League paired with 2 survivors who can barely tie their shoes, and nobody in that lobby has fun.

Playrrs that dump all their BP into one character can get P100 rather quickly. It is not a sign of skill. For example, a streamer I faced once plays like a beginner but has multiple P100 survivors.
As for the match making, all SBMM systems will eventually throw you against a wall. You will continue to escape against newish killers until you reach the level where killers know what they are doing. At that point you will need to step up or suffer until you start getting beginner level killers again. The cycle up down will continue until you move up or purposefully throw every match.

Recently I had a game with a 30 hour survivor and a 3000 hour survivor simultaneously. Yup, MMR is definitely working as intended.

What even is high MMR in DBD? All we really know is that you reach a very low cap fairly easily (20 wins or so) and are then dumped into the mix with everyone around that cap and upwards of the cap. Even if you're brand new to the game you can effectively be playing at high MMR within 1-2 months or less if you naturally pick up on the game mechanics fast.
I always chuckle when I see popular content creators use click bait titles like "this is what top MMR looks like' or 'playing the best of the best at top MMR'. They throw around MMR as if it actually means something, but all it does is create misconceptions about how the game actually works.
In short you get a grace period on a new account until you start to win games more consistently. You eventually reach the low MMR cap and you play with pretty much everyone queued at that given time. There really is no high MMR in this game just everyone playing together once you reach a certain point of success at winning matches.
