Why can't I see my friend's chat messages but everyone else can?

After an update around last Halloween I could no longer read my friend's in game messages but they can read mine. Other friends can see this friend's messages and mine as well. The only problem is from my end. Nothing on Google has helped me.

    I have this same problem have you submitted a bug report for this cos if not I think I will

    had the same issue. anyone knows a solution?
    I can see my friends chat message in pre-lobby and lobby-chat, but she can't see what I'm write - other survs can read.

    maybe the one that can’t see the messages has accidentally clicked on ‚Block‘ on the other persons account/name? Try to unblock and see if that fixes it

    The mechanic to block is supposed to block any communication methods I though only friend requests but possibly also after-game chat messages are affected
