Remove dc penalties

Losing is not fun. This is a PvP where one side will find themselves on the losing end. Right now survivors think they are justified in DCing because of an inflated sense of ego. If it were the other way around do you think there wouldn't be shade thrown at killers?

No problem, if it rids us of people who ruins actual player's games.

that’s not anymore healthy for the game and it would slowly die out.

they still dc left and right for no reason with them so…

the game is worse with dc penalties, they don’t work or function right and have several loopholes that make them redundant. The game has major amounts of issue and unfair content that need ironing out to incentivise players to not want to dc. The notion that you should instead just tell players to piss off is not by any means a better substitute than simply letting players leave miserable matches. Everyone’s guilty at some point of doing this and you’d be lying to say you haven’t dc’d over something minor. I’ve had matches in chaos where survivors will dc instantly at the sound of victor or cause they got downed first, people still dc often and I don’t cry or complain because nothing is lost and the match will continue or I’ll simply queue up again. Dcing would only impact you if something was lost but with DBD having no such thing unless you really love he bloodpoints then ur simply wrong

Most players do care about their Bloodpoints, as most haven't unlocked anywhere near everything, and that can be why some don't instantly give up when others ditch their team.

find it hard to believe maybe like 10k extra bloodpoints is worth sitting through misery for lol. And with the fact that pips aren’t removed anymore there is generally no reason to stay in matches currently

This is just false this is a casual/party game as the developers intent.. you can see it everywhere with whacky balance removal of skill expression every patch no ranked and more if you actually pay attention.

Also why would anyone DC? This is just silly find a hook and die on it. Any time I'm not having fun this what me and others do. You would be thankful for us DCing atleast you would have a team lol.

It's also funny when I see some one imply people should stop playing a game they paid for this isnt your sand box some times you have to play by others rules.

*Games having server issues so they remove penalty

*More people DC during the server issues

OMG why did they remove the penalty. This is not a good sample to pull DC frequency from it.

the main majority of reasons you’ve listed there are either harmless or out of player control. If you wanna advocate for a dc penalty system you would actually have to make it so it gives penalties for the right or legitimate reasons. But then again none of these matter when you can just die on hook or still find ways to get out early or make the game miserable during a match. It’s this notion of no matter what reasoning if you leave our game then tough titty have fun not playing for god knows how long.

Suicide on hook needs a penalty.

Cool. But you didn't take into account frequent crashes not related to network but something else.

I've been dealing with these and still don't know what's the issue, since they happen inconsistently and randomly. I am currently on a 30 mins ban, of course I've never dc-ed from any match but still suffering the penalties. The only way to lower the ban for me is to take 2/3 days breaks from dbd every now and then.

BHVR support didn't solve anything sadly.

They should put on a system that can detect when a player is really dc-ing and when not. It should be really easy to detect when the 'leave match' button is pressed, of course people can still shut down the game from steam or process managers.

I don't know if there are windows apis to detect a process shutdown or a crash BUT something has to be done IMO.

You don't have to use chat, but people also don't have to throw slurs, death threats, and generally be jerk in it either. Framing people as being "butthurt" when people literally make it a point to say some of the most heinous stuff is always going to sound like a cop out when paired with saying one is against restrictions. The world is built of restrictions both self imposed and mandated by authority figures. Those who can't or won't practice self restraint breed the conditions for authority figures to impose blanket restrictions.

DBD has a lot of contentious elements that don't gel with every player, everyone has a game where things aren't going their way or the vibes are generally off. It's that way for basically every multiplayer game at some point, but it is more pronounced in this one due to the inherent differences between both sides. That doesn't mean you should be given a free pass to further ruin the experience for others playing the game. The DC penalty only truly hurts those who constantly make a habit of dcing and if it makes people like that quit altogether then so be it. If you're only doing it like once every couple of months when something is just really off about the situation in game then you're not eating anything more than a 5 min timeout which you probably need anyway if things were bad enough to make you leave the match. If you're someone who has issues maintaining a stable connection to the game and get dc'ed multiple times in a single session that unfortunately is probably a sign you need to play a different game.

The only time we shouldn't have the DC penalty is when there is either a persistent server side issue or when folks find a force dc exploit that is getting used en masse against the community. Again, we have the conditions we have now as a direct result of the actions people committed in the past and continue to commit whenever given the chance. Every multiplayer game penalizes people for leaving matches these days.

So the penalties aren't harsh enough. 5 minutes penalty for the first dc, then 10 and so on should improve the situation. I remember that League of Legends used to give you a penalty on queues (probably still does), so that you had to wait some time in queue before the game was actually looking for other players. That's also an option. Or you get paired with other people that dc regularly for a while.

Basically anything to get them from queueing up for a while that is also annoying as hell to deal with. At the same time they should remove the most convenient ways to leave a match. Add a 10 seconds timer before players can disconnect (forces them to wait and calm down so they might not dc to begin with) and remove ways to suicide on hook.

Slippery Meat is a terrible perk and needs a rework anyway and Deliverance could still work in the exact same way.

If dc penalties are removes, whats to stop a play from just leaving a game every single times it simply isnt going their way?

"DBD is not a casual/party game."

the lead game director disagrees. he's been clear, up to this day, that dbd can be competitive in the way that players in any game might try and win the most, but it is not designed, balanced, etc to be competitive. he repeats this again and again in any interview or podcast like the slasher podcast that he is in.

My opinion though? add a surrender option for each side. simple. no solution is gonna be perfect, but surrendering is the most reasonable we might get. Add a minimum lenght for a match before it becomes aviable, and you got it in a good place to be used.

They have not been clear in that. Please, feel free to link proof of that, I follow their content quite closely.

Why wouldn't the SWF just surrender every single match they didn't like the killer or map? Starting to lose? NEXT. Bonus points since now they can lower their mmr faster to bully more people.

That would be a terrible change.

No, they should increase it. if you dc 3 times within a day you should wait an hour in Queue. If you leave the queue, the timer resets.
