are we ever going to get a free dlc again? whether killer or survivor?
i remember Matthew Cote saying the nurse and huntress being free because they could "afford" it , and as a way to thank players for the support and love towards the game. or is that just out the question now?

Probably not I would imagine
It seems like once a game/studio gets big enough, rewarding your players with big things like that kind of just goes out the window. They packaged a bunch of the older killers together in bundles so if they were going to start offering older killers/survivors for free, that would have been the time.

The Nurse and Huntress were added before the addition of (non-licensed) characters becoming available to be purchased with Iridescent Shards.
Play long enough and it is indeed free. It's fair to me; doesn't take that long to accumulate 9,000 shards as long as you don't spend them on Shrine perks or frivolous cosmetics.

ah i see, but the downside is you miss out on the bundle they sometimes include with purchasing the dlc outright.

This is true, but ever since the release of Kate way back in 2018, you only ever miss out on a single recolour of the survivor's default torso, which is negligible as the store has about a dozen more cheap variants of the same cosmetic for each survivor.
The only ones that are actually worth buying the chapter for are the survivors released before Kate. That is, Laurie, Ace, Feng, David, Quentin and Tapp, since they all came with a separate unique full outfit.
