Every other game I play has community challenges that everyone contributes to at all times with no limitations. Not only does DbD require you to select the challenge, but the limitation per player is ridiculously low. Other games, I feel like I'm working with the community towards the goal; in DbD, I don't feel any sense of community, I just did my few and now I can't contribute anymore and I'm just waiting. Because of this, I feel negatively towards community challenges in DbD: I'd prefer no community challenges whatsoever.

Personally didn't even know you had to be doing the challenge for it to count. Probably explains why the community never does them. As it becomes a "someone else will do it"

I'd rather they just got it done passively, then maybe up the amount required.

They definitely need to make it so you don't need to select the challenge to make it count.

I feel like this is partially why I kinda hate event tomes, at least for the anniversary. Before the community challenges were like selectable, it was just sort of passive. At least that’s how I remember it being. I also feel like the event store makes it feel a bit more complex with unlocking things, I just miss going around playing every character and get the pedestals to unlock the halos, tbh. Simple, and I liked how it forced you to go outside playing your mains to unlock things. Idk.

if it’s meant to stay active it’s an incentive to do the personal challenges first. Why would anyone just assume you didn’t have to select the selectable challenge?

Oh wait, I thought that as long as it was slected that you were contributing to the community goal after the personal goal is met?

I left it selected for a few matches and collected a large number of invitations, but the challenge has always remained at "2/2 (+3)". I'm assuming that means 2 are required, and after that it counted 3 extra (and maxed at 3). I don't know for sure, because I've never seen a community challenge with a "+" after the personal requirement.

I allready contributed like 100+ of the first challenge and its so damn slow there is no way we will ever reach all of them considering they are 3 tiers of Tome.

It feels like almost always when they realese community tome challenges, they have to nerf them because they are too long.

even with the challenge selected, I just see the 2/2 (+3) all the time, after each game the count only seems to go up a few 1000. It just doesn't feel like me purposely having the challenge selected and spamming the power in game and collecting 20 some invitations.

That does appear to be the case. It seems to add to mine after every game. Currently 40/2.

I’m not sure if invitations passively obtained count… It might but I’m not sure. It might just be the ones that you can grab are the ones that count.

These wouldn't be bad if you didn't have to select them as your challenge to progress them. Probably why on day 2 it was still under 1mil progress.

The problem is not only the extremely high number but also the (not even explained) fact that you need to have the challenge selected at all times if you wish to continue to contribute.

However, that means that you can no longer do any other challenges. If you already have every tome at 100% that's not really an issue, but the vast majority of the playerbase would rather progress other uncompleted tome challenges than just do one community challenge over and over again with no reward.

This happens every year. They will lower the total requirement when they realise they vastly overestimated how many players would contribute.
