The survivors are ruining the event
This event is already not fun

I know im gonna get made fun of but i get the most sweatest matches. I bring perks that are meme and fun and i get a 30 second match cause i get gen rushed by really strong toolboxes

I do think that the silent for 15 sec is a bit much like the exposed last year.
But I'm not gonna complain. It's just an event. Im just vibing and enjoying my new Piggy skin with good old Stbfl + bloodwarden only.

I don't know what it is about an event but it always seems to bring out the worst in people. Everyone's always bringing busted builds/items and sweating as hard as they can. Killer or Survivor.
It doesn't really help that a card that heals the entire team was added either.

i hope we meet during one of the trials here, op, i just bought a few scream girlies and im heere to scream, meme and do basement stuff wink wink
Edit: as im writiing this im currenty dying on second stage, all beacause i did basement stuff and the dweet with plot dwist fast vaulted lockers, fun

I know a lot of people love the events, but I'm not one of them. During these events you have to be in a totally different mindset of "I just don't care what happens in the match" because there's so much more stuff going on that is outside the boundaries of normal gameplay. It's just me personally, but I can't get into that mindset. I have more fun in normal matches. I usually play the events sparingly until I get any new cosmetics that I want and then play different games until it's over.

You changed a bunch of generator regression and progression stuff, then hyperbuffed sabotaging with toolboxes before an event that gives a bunch of toolboxes. Killers with weaker kits, and especially ones like my Main Ghostface, who already struggle to get a 60% killrate are suffering because of these changes. It is really, really, REALLY unfun to be an M1 Killer Main right now as a result meaning in order to get anywhere, these Killers may have to slug everyone - which isn't fun to be on the receiving end of OR do.
The things people are doing in particular is the same sort of bully tactics as ever: a bunch of sabotaging of hooks, and bringing maps with bad hook RNG that this can be abused on like Badham, then forcing further hookspawns. The Sabotaging buff may have had good intentions of helping to pull people off gens and give Killers a breather, but it was a mistake in terms of reducing toxicity. It doesn't pull anyone off gens, it just means they dump toolboxes in gens anyway and those who wish to ruin the experience for newer Killers will sabotage even harder, making the game feel awful for them and breeding toxic responses.
As for the event? You brought back the blocking of windows in ways that can create infinite loops for some Killers AGAIN, it was bad last year and it's bad now, just SCRAP this mechanic PLEASE. There's a Tryks thing that can heal the whole party and deflate all pressure during critical pressure moments and the Exposed just isn't long enough to help - and when it does, it creates a situation where a four man slug can happen, and rhe worst part is this can happen at random. You don't even know when it will happen, it could just happen and accidentally screw you over at the worst time.
I know you and the other Devs INTEND these events and new mechanics to be fun "let's just be silly and wacky" for everyone, but that ISN'T how people play them when bloodpoint gains are increased. People want to max points, so of course they bring the items and perks that help them win more frequently and provide guaranteed value. Perks like Lithe, Resilience (why is this allowed to buff all actions by 9% when MFT was nerfed for the same thing over 3%, being injured to activate it?), and items like Commodious Toolbox. Perks like doubled up Pain Res and Grim Embrace, the strongest Killers in the roster like Nurse and Blight, and the strongest addons for those Killers. The result is an unfun sweaty mess for everyone at what's supposed to be a celebration of what makes Dead by Daylight fun and great - and as ever, SoloQ and Killers considered to have weaker kits (particilarly M1s) get hit the absolute hardest and have the worst time because SWFs and stronger Killer Mains want to sweat for high BP gains. And the same thing happened with Blood Moon, and the same thing happens every time you run Blood Hunts. Literally the ONLY time these events and special things are any fun at all for casual players like me, is when you do modes like Lights Out (perkless) or Chaos Shuffle(no bringing any sort of strong build, you get what you get). Then it feels fair, fun, balanced, and enjoyable.
If you want to fix this behavior, you need to increase the BP gain, remove the BP cap, and make the events fully be about fun both sides. I'm really disappointed you didn't even consider just bringing back something like Chaos Shuffle but adding Tryks events to make it more fun, and even more disappointed you didn't seem to learn from how sweaty last year was, Summer BBQ was, and Blood Moon was.

Yeah I genuinely hate events, they are the sweatiest things alive and if I want to have any fun I also have to sweat. I wanna be vibey AND get some results. I want maybe a 1-3k without having to be the most nasty human alive to do it, or at least enough time to get enough BP to enjoy the event.
I don't wanna be a sweaty Pinhead running Iri Box with Impaling Wire and unfun perks like Franklin's to combat toolboxes, I WANT to be Pinhex with chain casting reduction running cool thematic "pleasure or pain" style hex related builds so everyone gets lots of BP regardless of who wins because they have to do totems and still get a few Kills then let the rest go while giving goofy nodders. I don't want to bring max slowdown Tombstone Myers and send everyone to Lerys, I WANT to run low terror radius scary Myers and send them to Hawkins for fun jumpscares time and still be allowed to do well. I don't want to run max injury pressure forever Broken Legion or four slowdown slug them all Ghostface, I want to do cool zoomies with a chase build and stealth stuff with Dark Devotion or Trail of Torment for fun and still do OK.I don't WANT to run the same four meta perks of WoO Lithe Resilence DS with a Commodious with BNP+Spool JUST to have a chance at escape, I want to run Aestri with fun perks that are there to be cute for my team and still get something from the round. I wanna be stealth Sadako and Memeolas Cage with Bardic Inspiration and a chill Vecna and a vibey Sable with four scream perks for funsies and a cool Nemesis running Mad Grit and Nemesis for the silliness and a friendly Bill who gets to boop the Pig's snoot during events.
And I can't during events, because I feel I HAVE GOT to run meta all the time, constantly or I won't get anything out of a round.

Killers i got play pretty evil too.
21 -
Not only is this not happening, but it's actually the other way around.
I've decided to play survivor during the event and one or two killers are ready to farm and meme, but the rest are using the strongest perks and add-ons with full intention of tunneling people instantly while survivors are blissfully unaware of what's going on and are running around picking up invites and cleansing totems or opening chests.
I literally just finished a game where the killer slugged and tunneled everyone they could. We left with barely 15k while they got 71k points.
Killers are ruining the event.

I do too. I just never cave in to the proper response, which is tunneling. That whole thing about "becoming what you hate" is real. So, I let them have at it, given they need me frothing at the mouth and running around like a demented loon to justify their antics. I just remain casual and enjoy my 2 or 3 hooks. "Be the change you wish to see in the world."+Ghandi.
I used to be the aforementioned demented loon. Very much so. I would face camp and tunnel. The works. Then, record it and rewatch it later to quell my doubts about my own sanity. ("Those teabags! They made me act like this!)
It had the opposite effect however. I became embarrassed that I was acting like a nut job on front street. Others...they were seeing this. Yes, I clutched my pearls.
What helped me the most and continues to help me? Playing both sides. Not only from a sanity through understanding standpoint but I learned how to play both roles better, albeit limited by "what I would do if I was them" and trying to counter before they do what they be trying to do.
Nowadays, it has been a practice so long, that I enjoy the game 90% of the time (contingent on my frame of mind, of course).

I’m not gonna lie, The heal you expose you is kinda insane considering I injure people with my Hatchets and then they get heals and even tho they are exposed I can’t instadown really because I’m still 110 lol. It’s pretty much just a free pressure reset.

The main event BP being tied to hooks/gens makes people more sweaty. Survivors only get event gen BP if they are on the gen when it finishes, if you are mostly chased or are chased off a gen you've done 99% of and someone runs over to finish it you miss out on the event BP. So survivors bring loadout that allows them to get gens done as quickly as possible to hopefully maximize the amount of gens they can be on when they finish. Killers have to hook survivors to get any of their main event BP so they bring extra sweaty build for that. It just creates a vicious circle that no one is happy about. Then you have the players that just bring a broken build for the sole purpose of ruining other players time during events.
Since the event now has a separate queue they could make it so you can't use a busted load out - just remove perks, items, and add ons from being brought into the match. Make it so the big XP is tied to the random event stuff like collecting/using the invitations instead of hooks/gens so people don't feel as though they need to rush/sweat on either side to get the limited event BP. They have alot more options/freedom now that the event has its own queue to stop it from becoming a sweatfest and prevent people from using it as a time to just ruin other people's fun.
5 -
Just to hopefully boost people up with a pep talk.... Don't let what other people are doing in the event change you guys.
If they wanna be sweaty, sure, whatever, let the sweats have their bottle.... just play your own game and have fun. If you're meme-ing, it doesn't matter if you're winning or losing, you knew going in that someone sweating will probably beat you. You didn't come here to win or lose, you came here to enjoy the event, so you know it's not a skill issue, what does it matter win or lose?
Have some chases, try to succeed in what you can realistically achieve, and just play to have fun. You're the bad ass for taking fun builds, playing memes, and being chill... You rock, keep playing your own game 🤘😁🤘
Lastly if someone takes a dig at you in end game, just respond with "That's a strong build! Glad you had fun! Happy Anniversary! GG!". We all know what you're actually saying with this sentence, and we can say it freely through gritted smiles. 😏
Have a great event all! 🤘

Another thing, people tunnel or genrush because that is just what is being played right now. The game is squelching any points for the opposition. For that, I blame the community. I played 38 games as solo survivor yesterday. I escaped 3. One, because the killer just stood in the middle of the map pondering existence and the other two because the killer let us. It has been rough. Vecna, the most powerful killer to date, with all these spells, is ironically the one, true tunnel monster forespoken of in the necronomicon.
5 -
It is happening either bring franklins or lose
2 -
True and real
2 -
Dead by Daylight players ruin Dead by Daylight for other Dead by Daylight players there's nothing survivor specific about that
8 -
Just my two cents, giving the killer the power to teleport someone to a hook totally negates the entire wiggle mechanic for the entire event. Not sure why anyone thought that was a good idea but that’s my only complaint.
11 -
Damn. I have to slug now to get anywhere? Proceeds to win with bloddwarden + stbfl only Pig against full loadouts squads.
2 -
Giving up on first hook has been an issue everyone talks about why are you keeping a mechanic that ruins matches for both the survivors teammates and the killer while preventing a bot from taking over
2 -
Us vs. Them is cringe and the fact of the matter is BOTH SIDES sweat during events. Please let's not pretend it's only one side. Survivors AND Killers both sweat hard during events.
3 -
Gens are incredibly fast. Now that all the good gen regression perks are dead. Very frequently I see myself at two gens on the first hook which is insane and its not that long. If you are not playing Blight or Nurse then you may as well concede. It also doesn't help auto heaven (the one where its split between two sides) is in rotation and that is almost an auto win (pun intended) for survivors.
3 -
I'm having a good time. Honestly, there really isn't any difference for me. Normal mode or the event, there will be a few matches where the other side just plays to win by any means necessary. Thats just dbd. I absolutely love the boosts from the mad designer. It's new and spices up the matches.
2 -
What…. exactly are we talking about here? How are they ruining an event that's situated more for the killer than it is for the survivors? Half the matches made are done before 2 gens can be completed, the insane amount of value a killer can get from all the new abilities is ACTUALLY insane.
For instance, being able to INSTANTLY teleport a survivor to a hook…?
Have you actually been playing the games or are we just complaining without any merit, like the usual?13 -
You must be playing a different event cause this event is survivor sided
On a survivor sided game
3 -
I feel like all the "X side is ruining the event" threads are proof that a "casual mode" would be a disaster. We literally have queues for the regular mode and a fun event mode running concurrently and there's not really any difference in how people play between the two.
12 -
Alright, so I'm going to come from a place of objectivity, because clearly; you must be new here and haven't been paying attention very well.
DBD hasn't been survivor sided since way back in 2021-2022 when they took out all the meta perks that survivors used to run, from there it's been a consistent snowball on the survivors side of ridiculously broken killers coming out with unreasonably powerful perks that then catch a nerf or buff to this day.
With exceptions of survivors like Mikela with her boons, ( I wont lie, COH was broken frame one.)Post edited by Rizzo on7 -
SoloQ is hard.
2 -
Solo Q is agonizing but something about It feels more pure. No advantages. No real information. Just sight and sound.
0 -
Objectively speaking, gens are easier than pre regression nerfs to complete for sure
3 -
As of now you are baiting. Bait used to be believable
2 -
It's almost like everyone predicted this would happen. Objectively, why did Chaos Shuffle work? Because neither side could choose their perks. You had to work with what you got. It didn't work simply because it was an alternate queue to the standard one, it was the random perks that made it work.
Casual and Competitive are, and always will be, two very different audiences with very different ideas of fun.
5 -
So afterall this i hope event gets better but as of now toolboxes and survivors mechanics they get from this event needs removed or fixed cause its not fun. But as of now event isnt fun til something gets fixed from this survivor sided event
3 -
You know what? This event make some "random" effect on the two side (killer and survivor)
Imagine, one of them was "All your perk got random! for the rest of the match"
I love this idea3 -
Chaos Shuffle provided the true Casual vs Competitive distinction. Competitive players were less inclined to play it because they couldnt use perks that, in their perception, would give a competitive advantage. It was more likely to be enjoyed by casuals.

So how are killers having issues. Every game of this event has been tunneling killers winning 4k with at most 1 gen pop.
7 -
Playing both sides during the event both sides are sweating it to no ends. When I play killer I get almost exclusively premades that run 4 iridescent addons and split on 4 gens. I've had a match where I had lethal downed one from a mistake play maybe 20-25 seconds in. Before I got to the next survivor on a gen all 3 gens popped. 1 hook for 3 gens feels real bad. The other teams are bully teams that run 4 flashbangs. But I also get tunneled every survivor match it feels so both sides suck (honestly it's the matchmaking)
5 -
I will say 'players" are trying to ruin the event not just survivors. Had some very not fun games yesterday. I don't even run anti-tunnel builds but I had off the record on for half my playtime.
3 -
100 posts about survivors having an awful time in the event, and peanits rushes to respond to the only killer main post crying about the event being too hard….you got to be kidding me…you couldn't be any more one-side biased if you tried man…
6 -
*KIller main* i play both sides and say survivors have it easy
1 -
I know. It's been proven they only care about the killer experience.
1 -
This is the truth, this is the answer, but nobody wants to admit maybe their favored side is part of the problem too.
0 -
it not just killers or survivors it players every year every event is like this.
1 -
Every game I play is so bad; survivors are getting tunnelled and camped at 5 gens. I have had 2 sm who just slug. :( I get excited about events but I quickly get depressed.
3 -
Sad part is we have to sweat just to have a chance at playing the game and gaining BP.
I totally get you since I like to run fun builds and play casually but during this event I had to switch my usual non sweaty builds for Dead Hard, MFT to loop the killer long enough to perhaps force them to leave me and slap on Reassurance to prevent my teammates from being tunneled as fast, since it's all I'm seeing every match. What can I say, I don't like being tunneled out at 5 gens or having to play an unwinnable slog fest 3 vs 1 match with 5 gens left. The fact that I have gotten huge Reassurance value every single game says enough, since 90% of killers just proxy camp just outside range and come right back for the tunnel.
I have to be very aggressive with gens, luckily my teammates have been too. Most will still chase that person even if you are doing a generator right in their face. Then complain when generators fly...
If I'm lucky my teammates are the ones pressuring gens and I can be the one pressuring the unhook. The matches I have lost were the ones where my teammates unhooked in less than 20 seconds when the killer is tunneling or roaming around the hook area. Let that person stay in hook for longer for the sake of the team… Some even see that I reassured and still unhook them. Needless to say those matches were the hardest to win. But I have been sweating against tunnelers and have managed to get 3 or 2 people out, including myself in at least half of those games.
If they sweat I'm going to as well and I'm not sorry for it. I can't even play the event mode as a survivor because insta-hooks negate even gimmicky perks like Power Struggle and you can't even save people that are being tunneled if they go down on a pallet.
I have never seen so much tunneling and I have been playing this game for two years. I even created this forum account because I couldn't resist joining these discussions. Tunneling is such a cheap strategy. The killers that I get don't even know how to play their killer properly most times, their MMR is just inflated. The tunnelers I occasionally came across before the event at least knew how to mind game, loop and use their power and perks. These just chase a survivor the entire match and lose 4 gens in the process. Switch targets, pressure gens, use your brain. It's not that hard. I have been playing killer in the event and it's just easy mode. No need for tunneling, camping or meta perks or killers. I'm sorry to say I don't share OPs opinion, respectfully.
