This AMA made me excited for the future of DBD
This AMA made me really excited for the future of this game. Since I started playing 4 years ago, I don't think the devs has announced future stuff this much like they did now. They didn't give many vague answers, they were more direct actually and that was fun to see. I think it's fun to show positivity when it's reasonable to do so :)
I'd like to show some of the things I found interesting:

curious for skull merchant response I don't know how they can prevent survivors from d/cing. I don't think making her weaker solves anything other than make killer player that play her not play her a more rare killer than the twins. If they completely rework her from scratch and make an entirely different character than dbd loses 1 of the 3 trap-based killers in the game.
in my opinion, i don't see a clear solution. to me, it sounds like childish behaviour to d/c.

Considering the way it is written, I feel it is more of a rework/buff than something that relieves survivor's hate towards her…
She is a rather boring killer to play as nowadays, after all

Them saying they are working on something for excessive slugging is the most exciting.

Oh, I like hearing that they're discussing giving props doing something. I feel like an incentive to be nice has a lot of potential to improve community health (though I think it should be that people can't give props to anyone they queued up with, otherwise SWFs can abuse this for free rewards.)
I highly doubt they'd buff DC Merchant because her kill rates are extremely high, even if we all know the reason for that is wildly inaccurate and doesn't reflect her strength. Though I feel like at this point, anything less than completely removing her zoning/gen protection power and reworking her into an entirely different type of killer wouldn't fix the issue, which is that her reputation has been completely tanked between old-incarnation PTSD and near nobody wanting to play her except the types of players who want to milk the fact that everyone hates her, which further cements Skull Merchant matches as being bad, which makes more people DC or hook suicide, which further cements Skull Merchant matches being bad, et cetera... it's more than just tweaking her power at this point, the entire idea of her has been burned and salted in a way no other killer has ever been before, even Nurse.

The thing that concerns me about this one is that they're talking about it being so complicated, which has me worried they're going to try to fix it a la the finisher mori system and basekit unbreakable and all that other completely unnecessary tectonic shifting when you could fix this problem in ten minutes by just letting survivors optionally replace themselves with bots when everyone is downed/hooked or it's a 2-man game. Doesn't change the strength of slugging, for 4k or otherwise, but prevents killers from holding survivors hostage, which will make them stop doing it because there's no fun in griefing a bot.

BHVR will probably use the same balancing strategy that they did with Nurse, Spirit, and Blight, where they just pile nerf upon nerf upon nerf, until the bulk of the complaints go away.

or simply a finisher mori without unbreakable, still doesn't change the strength of whatever situation, weirdly some people still believes it is stronger and somehow makes slugging more prevalent though

Map is being made smaller, killer getting reworked (buffed), nothing for survivors. Nothing special about this update, it seems like all the other ones.

the thing is, with nurse, spirit and blight, most player universally agree that their power-level was high. In fact all of those killer were label as S-tier.
Like if you look at otz-tier list over the years, Nurse, Blight and Spirit were all S-tier killers in his tier list. Skull merchant on other hand is not consider good and is rather unpopular where as Nurse, Blight and Spirit were all extremely popular killers when they were broken.
Spirit was like 11% pick-rate when MDR+Original prayer bread existed. Nurse was like 6% with like a 75% kill-rate in her prime. Blight was 7-8% in his prime. even today, blight is somewhat popular. Nurse & Spirit got hit extremely hard while blight is worse, he's primary gameplay remains similar. The severity of changes might explain why nurse/spirit are not as common anymore while blight remains somewhat common.

I agree, it's an issue and does need addressing. The problem is how do we define "excessive" slugging versus just pressuring for a down, or accidentally downing the same person, or any other sort of pressure downing this way?

Probably leaving people on the ground for multiple minutes or downing multiple people. I think a Recover fully when on the ground for longer than x amount of time would suffice in all cases. That's usually a bigger issue than downing multiple people but would combat both.

"excessive slugging" is only when everyone is downed without any way to get back up because otherwise there is countless ways to interact, and at that point it is only logical to grant killers a "victory" and instantly end the game

Controversial opinion I know, but I actually quite like playing as and against her (when whoever is playing her isn't going out of their way to be toxic). She's the only trap based killer with a bit of stealth, which are both my favourite types of killers.

@Eleghost and @Neaxolotl I would agree with those definitions. Sometimes a four slug happens but if it's for like, 45-60 seconds? At that point it's just petty. I would rather if this happens and nobody can get up to combat it and the Killer won't hook, the match ends in a Killer "win" but does not grant a pip. To anyone. Not enough of a round was played, why reward anyone for a 4k this way?
