How are you supposed to get gold+ on devout?
just finished a match where three survivors got sacrificed and one made it out of the hatch. I only got a silver in devout. as I understand it, it's because one of them was on hook too long instead of getting hooked three times. this is ridiculous. If I hook every survivor once and win before they can save each other, was I just not a good enough killer to get an emblem? could survivors decide to lock me out of progress by not bothering to save each other at all? I do love the performance-based result system dbd uses but this is just not pleasant, especially when you didn't understand how archives work for the first two thirds of the event.

So iirc you must
-Hook each unique Survivor at least one time
-Kill all 4 Survivors
-Get a total of 10 "Hook Events" throughout the match, meaning that you must hook Survivors at least 10 times.
And yes, if you win too quickly, you miss out on Devout (and ideally make up for it in Gatekeeper/Chaser because your Malicious will be dropping too)

As far as I understand, If you only kill three people you need to have hooked everybody once and have 9 Hooks collectively, if you kill all 4 survivors (Not with a bleedout!) it should be enough to get a gold emblem.
Iridescent would be all 4 dead, every survivor hooked once and 9 hooks in total.
So survivors can deny you the iridescent emblem with not unhooking, but not the gold one.
I used the wiki, it's not official, but usually pretty accurate:

3K is enough for gold if you have hooked everyone at least once and have 9 or more hooks. For iridescent devout you need 4K and 9 or more hooks.

It needs to be 9 hook actions, not just 9 hook states. Just for clarification

This is likely what prevents players from getting Gold or higher in that emblem. One hooking everyone and bleed-outs are not sufficient suffering for the Entity, although the survs won't enjoy either of those things happening to them.

As the the resident Toxic Survivor Defender™️ even I have to grudgingly admit that survivors giving up probably has something to do with it. If a survivor gives up on their first hook, you have to basically perfectly spread hooks on all the rest of the survivors to have a chance at the point for 9 hook events

I know, I meant hook actions, but you're right, the word "hook" alone isn't quote clear.

I agree, and both Emblems and many challenges/achievements should be looked at with this in mind.

Devout is incredibly annoying when it crops up on archive challenges. You get bronze just by hooking everyone once, but the requirements to get more than silver are extremely exacting and punish you if survivors don't unhook each other every stage, if you win too quickly, and the less said about hatch, the better.
I don't see why they couldn't simplify it to 0 kills = no emblem, 1 kill = bronze, 2 kills = silver, 3 kills = gold, and 4 kills = iri.

This would make sense.

All I'm really reading here is: "I won, but I didn't win the way that I wanted to."
I don't see the problem here.

Pro-tip:
Moris and power/perk executions lower your devout score.
