What does "Respecting Pallets" mean?

I have heard Survivors on YouTube use this term when a Killer doesn't break a pallet that has already been dropped. Therefore, I thought respecting them meant not breaking them.

However, recently in a few videos where a Survivor is narrating their gameplay, they will say something like "oh wow, he respected that pallet" when the Killer is chasing them but no pallets are dropped and I have no clue what they mean now.

What does it mean when a Killer respects a pallet?

Respecting pallets means that you try to avoid being stunned by the pallet, usually by waiting a small period of time, some newer killers take this too far and think im within close range of the survivor they are forced to drop the pallet, then wait too long and give the survivor distance for another loop. Or the killer successfully baits a survivor to drop the pallet without the stun because they "respected" it.

So just a pallet mindgame term

I only know it in the context of a Killer trying to avoid getting stunned by the pallet in chase. So keeping their distance and pausing further away at a pallet, even if it means losing distance in chase, because they assume the Survivor is going to drop it.
