Did 2vs8 look a little hard to anyone else?
It looks awesome, and I'm so glad my main man Evan is in it. Teammates and meta be damned, you bet I'm playing the Trapper šššš
I was looking at the survivors classes, and they look pretty good... got some decent equivalents to perks there... no noise on unhooks, self heal when on death hook, all good stuff....
However I was looking at killer, and we get some basekit addons, and buffs in the forms of fast hooks and alike, as well as our team powers which look pretty cool across the board...
But man... we have no equivalent of perks to help us... we have 4 more survivors to handle and only 3 additional gens that need completing... maps are larger and longer to traverse...
Is it just me or did that madness in stream look a little hard from the killers perspective? š

Not sure if any killers want to play it that much, it seems to suck even just for rewards
4 -
I saw a dev say its meant to be chaotic, not competitive. So I think that was their intention. I'm neutral on it personally, I'll play for the badge (I'm assuming there's also a participation badge) but I feel like groups of friends will enjoy this the most.
9 -
Chaotic is the term used only when both sides have broken things imo, doesn't seems to be the case for the 2v8
11 -
I'll have fun with it regardless I'm sure, there is always Hillbilly + Nurse if you wanna get nuts š
But Jaysus... Trapper without anything like STBFL, Corrupt Intervention, Deadlock, Bamboozle, Surge, Tinkerer, Unforseen, Pain Res, Bloody Coil, Trappers Bag, Coffee Grounds, Fastening Tools, Iridescent Stone to help him...
Sounds rough xD

I think the fun as killer will be getting great tag-team moments with your partner. Two friends can finally ditch the survivor queue and chat while playing killer together, and two strangers can have moments of "aw, hell yeah!" when they manage to coordinate a great move without verbal communication.
4 -
I love the fact I'm just gonna be granting haste bonuses to my ally while setting my traps... I'm just chilling here doing my own things and yelling "Go on son! 'Ave it!" from cross map xD
6 -
Looking at the gameplay footage, Trapper was definitely having a rough time. I don't expect to see many of them.
4 -
If you watched the show closely, you know that this mode is completely broken.
In round 2, they probably played around for 30mins+ so the killers could hook every single survivor twice before someone dies.
In round 1, you could easily see, how broken Gen-Speed is. Against a just effective group, the killer-duo will probably lose 4 gens for 1 hook at the start or even more. Even if the killers chase 2 survivors, the remaining survivors should easily finish 5 or even the full 6 generators in 90 seconds. This is insane.
I assume the only 2 killers who can do at least something are Hillbilly and Wraith because of Map-Mobility. Huntress as 4.4m/s killer will have a hard time on these larger maps Trapper doesnt have corrupt to set up and Nurse Blinksā¦ its Nurse, but still.
6 -
It looks like a Survivorsā party. And Iām okay with that it looks like so much fun. The Killer side will probably be more fun from the plays instead of the kills.
2 -
Imagine you have a nice little tagteam-down (so 2 killers chase 1 survivor, which leaves 7 survivors on generators, if they are effective) while you lose, lets say, 5 generators at the same time. Sounds definitely fun.
3 -
I feel like Billy + Nurse would probably be a bad combo honestly. Billy canāt Insta down in this and Nurse canāt use his exposed effect either. Makes no difference for the Nurse, but the Billy would just be handicapping himself.
2 -
Billy can keep up with Nurse though, but yeah on review, I actually missed Billy can't down with his Chainsaw. Seems like an odd decision that one, top of my head I would have kept his chainsaw instadowns and perhaps had Billy grant Endurance or Pallet break speed to his teammate instead of exposed š¤
Wraith is probably better for Nurse... Undetectable and the speed to keep pace.
0 -
Here's answer tag teaming. I don't think 8 gens will be any problem I would still win majority my games if there were 4 gens on normal mode and literally that been case lately because bug.

I feel like Huntress will be the best killer with Nurse. Just go and down everyone as fast as possible. With the aura and the triple blink, youāll just go down as soon as the Huntress lands a hatchet. Or split up and just down them fast since your Nurse anyway.
Wraith might be okay, but it depends on the size of his Undetectable power. Otherwise the Nurse is just going to continue alerting everyone of her location by screeching to keep up with Wraithās speed or cause the Wraith the wait for her to slowly float everywhere like an NPC escort mission.
Honestly Nurse just doesnāt seem fun teammate in this mode, especially since she doesnāt give her teammate any cool effects.
3 -
The low number of generators also seemed weird to me.
I'll do my best to kill as much as I can but it will be more difficult than in the normal mode.
My plan is: I'll play Nurse and I'll group with a friend with no killer experience. I'm not expecting a miracle š

I can shed some light on this. š No, these were real matches, the second match you saw wasn't artificially drawn out and was nowhere near 30 minutes.
For full context, we go into these gameplay segments completely blind with a group of players from all different skill levels, some goofing around and having fun while others play more seriously. Our guests have never played the mode before, they have no idea what to expect, so what you see is them experiencing it for the first time. This is great because we want everyone to see their genuine first impressions, but it takes a few matches to warm up as a group and figure out how seriously we should all be playing. Ultimately the goal of these segments is to showcase some of the things you can do, not to flex on each other.
I wouldn't read too far into these exhibition matches, but by all means please do let us know how it feels once it's out! This is the first iteration of 2v8, so there could very well be tweaks that we need to make - time will tell.

I was really hoping you were going to comment on the mass confusing we are having, on whether or not killers get all of the āpowersā, or if they have to choose either the left side or the right side of the āpowersā?
Because it just feels majorly bad if Billy got a MASSIVE nerf for this game mode, and is forced to have one health state chainsaws in this game mode.
0 -
Thank you. I was really looking forward to playing Billy in this game mode, but Im just too disappointed that survivors get all these new and exciting thingsā¦. but Billy gets a massive nerf instead.
And if I play killer and get stuck with Trapper as a teammate, that also feels like starting the game with a major disadvantage. Trying to work together as a team with someone that needs to take large detours to manually pick up traps, just feels bad.
5 -
It's very weird to me that Nurse gets buffed and has no drawbacks while Billy does
3 -
Plz no h8... I'm doing my best š
I also found this confusing, but I guess we can always throw feedback.
Billy isn't Billy without going for one shot curvesā¦ This wouldn't be the direction I would go for Billy, but I think I see why they did it, and to give it a fair shake, my intial gut and guess at BHVRs logic was that the sheer speed, potency and presense of regular Billy basically makes it so you have to ignore the other killer because you can't afford to get hit by Billy... he basically runs off ahead and starts slaughtering unhindered.
Nurse on the other hand still needs 2 hits and to recover each time, she can't go for 2 survivors who run opposite ways at once, whereas Billy can just go on 1 shot slugging sprees back to back while his teammate just follows behind cleaning up. I would guess BHVR wanted reign in Billy to be a bit more of a team player than a 1 shot monster who runs off on his own.
This makes sense when you look at Billy's power. It is a pretty insane power to be able to sprint around afflicting people with exposed. He can just miss to zone, and with his fast recovery he can just slap anyone with an m1 himself, or his teammate can do it. If you can imagine a fully implemented version of 2vs8 with someone like Spirit in toe with him, that gets pretty scary.
Thats my theory, and I suppose my initial feedback would probably be give Billy a weak, or perhaps even no team power if he himself is too much of a handful. I'd endeavour to keep the iconic part of the killer intact in each case as much as possible... but we'll see when 2vs8 comes out proper.
2 -
To be fair, Nurse is really garbage getting value with the teamwork āperksā that most of the killers haveā¦
Do we really think itās realistic for Nurse to travel long distances in Wraithās undetectable range? Do we think itās realistic for Nurse to get a decent amount of exposed M1 hits (blink attacks not allowed) with Billyās teamwork perk? Do we really think Nurse will get a lot of value from being able to float slightly faster due to Trapperās teamwork perk?
And thatās the problem. BHVR made sure all the survivor classes had major opportunities to have great teamworkā¦. but many of the killer teams just have garbage synergy with their teamwork perks.
0 -
The lack of any gen regression sure will make for fast games where killers cant barely keep up.
1 -
I'm not particularly interested in 2v8 personally, but hopefully it's fun for the people who are excited about it.
I'm glad it's only a limited time mode though, that should give it some novelty before a hard 2v8 meta emerges.
Although, I think the reality of the game mode could be interesting. Now everyone can experience 'the worst part of the game is my teammate'.
1 -
In that first roundā¦ took the survivors 4:30 to complete all 8 gens. This doesn't really scream "chaotic" to me as I see some people claim it's supposed to be. Definitely should have doubled the gens that the survivors had to do and give more than just basekit buffs to killers when a perk set for surv can give you even more progress on the gen for hitting a great or free MFT.
1 -
I'm sure the strategy with billy is going to be have him go to the edge of the map and constantly run back and forth to provide perma expose to his teammate
ā¦.which is honestly going to be pretty lame on both sides. I agree that he should have little to no teammate buff in order to let him have his normal power
2 -
Nope hilly Billy dosent 1 hot with his chainsaw for some reason but they gave Nurse an extra blink
0 -
Not only she doesn't need any value from her teammate but Nurse players are clearly not going to be of the tandem type anyway. And rightfully so. It's not like any other killer can manage to keep up pace with the killer able to teleport through assets.
0 -
I'm thinking the intent is more chases, especially in tandem, rather than kills. This mode basically sets aside efficiency and competitiveness on the killer side, leaning hopefully to just for fun.
If they wanted to attempt anything like balancing this out some, it would be like 7 survs and 9 gens to do, no hatch, things like that.
1 -
Since she is barely fast as 4.6 killers right now, billy or wraith could easily catch up with her no problem
1 -
I think it's done to offset the fact that you can't loop at all in 2v8.
3 -
Nurseās map traversal speed is garbage now. A lot of people seem to forget that Nurseās map traversal speed was very heavily dependent on the range and recharge addonsā¦. and those have been removed from the game.
2 -
it feels like your fog whisperers act like it's fun to get 2v1'ed by killers when you are applying 2 big nerfs to knight just to prevent this exact thing from happening.
feels kinda wrong to me.
2 -
Personally, I'm looking forward to giving my Killer buddy lots of opportunities to get one hit downs by being a drift king Billy for most of the game.
I think this looks like a blast, even if it might be Survivor sided. I don't think these time limited modes are meant to be taken all that seriously, anyway. Some modes have been more fun than others and could use re-balancing when they return. But I think it's best to view these modes as experimental PTBs for trying out new ideas, except with the added bonus that we all get to join in.
3 -
Are vaults disabled again?
0 -
This right here! 3 blink nurse is not ideal ever due to the long af cool down each blink adds to the cool down as well as swinging. Don't get me wrong she's still op and s-class but she won't be the dominate queen she is in 1v4.
1 -
The BP bonus will show whether this mode is worth playing as Killer or not
My initial guess is not much especially if two Killers get matched together instead of friends queuing up
0 -
It's just a matter of expectations. If you are expecting to get an 8 kill each game then you'll likely be disappointed. If you just want to smash the hell out of some survivors for a few minutes then you'll have a good time. Personally, I think it is a good choice to keep this mode casual and fun. Who really cares if 5 survivors escape on average? If this mode is too competitive then the queue times for killers will be insane. I think there is room to discuss overall balance once it goes live.
Just watching the stream, I think it would make sense for killers to have some kind of bonus damage when they kick generators. Something like 2% bonus damage per living survivor would make sense and just limit the number of times a single gen can be kicked to something reasonable like 4-6 times. Or maybe to keep the focus on chasing survivors, an alternative could be whenever a survivor is caged then each gen loses .5% progress for each living survivor. Considering how short chases will last, that is actually a lot of gen slow down.
2 -
Im cool with that. But as it stands right now this looks more fun on the survivor side and more sweaty on the killer side because of how fast gens get done. As in: You cant really enjoy the fun if the match is over too fast.
4 -
are you sure que time for survivors won't be insane, it's the same thing for either sides
0 -
Yeah I'd expect tweaks for that in a second version.down the road.
0 -
I would just like to know the thought process behind nerfing Billy but buffing Nurse...
Thats it.
2 -
It's a good thing she's getting reduced fatigue too then!
(It's not)
((Why are they buffing Nurse))
0 -
Nurse received a buff due to the larger maps, she had very little map mobility with the increased map sizes
Hillbilly's one shot proved to be hugely strong in working with tandem with another killer, plus the team powers, hence that was adjusted.
There's been a lot of playtesting that has gone into this mode and we really want to emphasis that this is a fun, chaotic mode - less concerned with kills or escapes.
I'll also say, this is just the first iteration of this, if it goes well there will be more of them with further changes, extra maps etc
5 -
couldve been considered right away, if the devs actually knew that gens are going way to fast without regression, thats why anyone is using regression perks in the normal mode, thats why meta perks are regression perks.
Looks like a huge oversight to me.0 -
I understand the part with the map mobility. However, 3 blinks near the partner and a longer lunges have nothing to do with map mobility.
I'm all for a fun and chaotic mode. Sadly, not many people enjoy this type of gameplay. Just take a look at the regular queue. People, sadly, will always try to optimize the result of the match.
Making the best killer in the game, that has no realistic counterplay even stronger will result in these people only picking Nurse, whatever killer has best synergy with her and making the match for the other side a lot less fun.
If these options are put in, one can't blame the players for using them.
Dont get me wrong, I adore the idea behind the mode and am probably going to try to enjoy this very much. Trapper being the killer that I like to play the most out of the ones available. Putting Nurse in this mode might be a problem in the long run though. I'm very curious about how these adjustments turn out.
I would love to be wrong though!!!

As ideal as it is for people to take this game as "chaotic" and "fun" mode, unfortunately, the design decisions of past few years (looking at you SBMM.) that incentivized wins over fun has caused a good portion of the "fun loving" players to leave the game and we are basically left with players that aim to win at all costs. Injecting a "fun mode" at this state is not going to bring those players back, and neither will it incentivize the current playerbase to "have fun" and at this current state, its pretty obvious that killers are going to have a miserable 2 weeks.
I like that the devs are trying to bring the "fun" back to the game but that needs to be something incremental over the span of years to "detoxify" the community, and as of now, this game needs to have more focus on "fairness" rather than "fun" as the mode itself is already fun enough on paper.
1 -
I doubt "fun and chaotic" can be an excuse for any imbalance, as obviously only one side can have "fun" in one sided games
Same goes for literally any event to be honest, at least it's good we have separate que now

Killers are gonna struggle to get a 2k in this mode. This is because of all the stuff killers get at base in this mode, something like a map-wide Surge wasn't included. So you cage someone, and then what? You get nothing for it at all. And Hillbilly not being instadown, what were they thinking?
