PSA to leave when the doors are open
You make your teammates key hatch challenges exceedingly more hardcore even when they are alredy hard to do, by blocking the hatch from spawning even though you could leave any second.
thanks.

My personal PSA would be to stop 99%ing doors. Nothing annoys me more as a Survivor being chased than a door being 99'ed and then them leaving to try and find me, as I run to the door.

But this is about leaving when the doors are open. Pls do not derail the thread.

I could leave it to die if you like.

It's not only hatch. Also those "Survive while x amount of Survivors escape". Those are tedious to do

True thats also affected by this weird behaviour in this community to just tbag at the gates.

and how would that be any diffrent from it derailing? My main concern is the challenges that are badly affected by players just never leaving the gates when they have the chance, many will claim they wait to safe their teammates but we all know they just want to annoy the killer. By doing that they set their other teammates up for failure in their challenges too.

Most people wait at gates to BM and it kind of sucks to have to walk across the whole map to force them out, sometimes first to one gate, then all the way to the other gate. It's lame, boring and petty. I'd like it if once EGC started, a glyph spawned in basement or something, and the killer could interact with it to give up and end the game. Or just let the killer DC without penalty once EGC starts or something, idk. This would make hatch challenges harder, but you could still get them done if you're the last survivor alive.
But a lot of people are staying at gates to ensure their teammates get out safely, and sometimes several players are doing this while standing across the map from one another. A "soft" solution to this is to make it so if you're in the exit gate area as survivor, you can also see any other survivor in an exit gate area, even across the map. That way, if all survivors are in the exit gate area, they'll see each other and know that everyone is safe, so everyone can leave.
As for getting hatch challenges done, make sure to bring a hatch offering and camp the hatch location once you know everyone is safe to leave, hopefully your teammates will leave early enough for you to get your challenge done.

I think people need to be situationally aware of when to leave. If there's four people left in the trial and I don't know where all of them are, I'm going to stay because if someone needs my help, the team should be able to safely extract them. Same if there's three - me leaving at that point isn't going to impact hatch play anyway.
Two people left is where it gets complicated. If I'm injured, I should leave because I can't help the other player, so giving them the possibility of hatch is the best thing I can do. And if we're both healthy, but I don't know where they are and they're not being chased, I should probably leave to open up their options. If we're both healthy and they're being chased but I know they're on the other side of the map, I should also leave because I can't realistically save them and get anyone out, so hatch is the play.
If I'm healthy, though, and they're injured, that becomes the point where I should stay. I can take a hit or go for an unhook. And if we're both healthy, they're being chased, and I hear the terror radius, I should go find them to take a hit and guide them towards the exit.
All of that said, hatch challenges are awful nowadays and teammates waiting to BM at the gate become your worst enemies. You almost need a SWF to do them without a teammate inadvertently screwing you over… and forget about key challenges entirely, ugh.

You seriously expect people to play around tome challenges that most players have already completed years ago?

as a killer main, I agree. just leave. stop t-bagging and BM'ing at the door, or I'm gonna start staring you down on hook so your friends can't save you. capiche?

i know about hatch offering but that doesnt help when people just wait till last second.

well spoken, it could be SO easy to determine when to leave and when to not leave. But i felt not even bothering explaining this as i know most people just want to BM the killer anyway, so they'll gladly sacrifice the challenge of their teammates out of pettyness.
Got 1/2 hatch challenges done today (where i need to open it with a key, thats extra hard becuase the killer has to close it first) and it was a farming ghostface. Pointed at him to follow me when all others left and then pointet at hatch, he closed it, i nodded and opened it again, it was a global icon player so i couldnt message them to give my appreciation sadly. Its really only due to mercy of other players or a full swf which i dont have atm.
But i havent seen hatch challenges in the newer tomes, so im glad i wont have to do too much of them.0 -
Remember those words when the killer closes the hatch and you have no one left to run interference/body block for you.
Which is almost the entire reason I ever remain in a match when I could just leave.
But regardless, getting hatch is a crapshoot that will just happen organically if you are patient and just let it. Playing for hatch is not advisable, challenge or no.

The killer hindering me to survive is a thing i gotta accept, as its a litteral pvp game and it would be crazy for me to get mad at the killer??? And lets not pretend selfless, as mentioned above if we are only 2 left and gates are open, GIVE HATCH. its not that hard…

Maybe.
But regardless you're not going to get what you're asking for here. Killers and survs alike have been shouting "Just leave" to stragglers for years. It isn't gonna start now; you might as well ask water to stop being wet.
99% of the time you get hatch, it's going to be because the other three survs are dead.

I strongly recommend trying non-key hatch challenges in 2v8, by the way - old tome challenges do work in this mode. Hatch spawns at 2 survivors left and there are several (3?) hatches around the map.

If we were never to call out the BS just because it didnt work before, nothing would change ever and thats not only in DBD but in general.
I wasnt expecting to be the changing factor with my post, had to vent about it still. And as a secondary effect i got a tip aswell.0 -
thats a great suggestion! i will make sure to get rid of em ASAP :D thy!

Sorry OP, but it is not as simple as you make it sound. Whether or not a survivor should leave requires a more complex decision tree than just "Is door open? y/n if yes then leave". You need to factor in how many survivors are still in the trial. If one player is being chased and there are 2 or 3 other survivors still in the trial then the polite thing to do is to wait near the door and body block for the survivor if they make it that far. If the survivor gets hooked, then the remaining survivors should heal up and attempt a rescue. If there is one survivor being chased and only one other survivor left in the trial, then yes, the correct play is to leave so that survivor has a chance at finding the hatch since a one person rescue is pretty impossible if the killer stays near the hook.

Oh we alredy evaluated that. But im glad you repeated what i myself said so it looks like i dont understand what im talking about.
The thing im talking about, and i gotta repeat this the 3rd time in this post now, is people not leaving in the situations when they really should, just to teabag the killer.0 -
No, you are just jumping to assumptions now. I litteraly said i need hatch, why would i blame someone to leave when i am finally getting a person that is not sabotaging my challenge???

I think you need to be a little more considerate to people that use the exit gate for its main purpose- a runway to showcase our new outfit. I know you might want that hatch, but… I gotta be seen.

If i am saying in pre game chat then people will even less likely leave to give me hatch. This is the same community that abused the trickster epilepsy bug just to hurt people irl.

Is this supposed to be funny? because im not laughing..

As a fashionista main, I am dead serious. Like, afterlife serious.

Your best bet is to SWF uf you want to complete this challenge, especially when you notice that it's difficult to do so whilst SoloQ-ing. If you're on Steam, you could try telling your teammates to leave because you're trying to get your hatch challenge, that might help too.
As for people not leaving I think Laluzi explained it best. Those are the reasons I would stay in the game for as well. Otherwise I'll leave. I play just as much Killer to know how wasteful of my time it is when others do that for the fun of it, or for the "watch-me-leave" or they want to BM 🤷🏼♀️
Either way GL with your challenge gamer!
