Permamode 2v8 would divide the player base too much
I think, as a modifier, this is a successful gaming experience that can still be improved and expanded. However, I can't imagine that a permanent 2v8 mode would make sense. You can already see that in the Q for the normal games. I think the player base would split up too much and it would generally lead to longer waiting times in the lobby.
What do you think about this?

Two different game modes does not split community that much and i dont mind spend more 5-10 min in the lobby

There are over 60 million active players. It would be just fine. Queue times would even out anyways. Not to mention DBD gets new players everyday that join the game.

No, lobby simulator is not fun. Never has been.

Yeah, I've been playing DBD for about five years and I don't know that I've ever waited more than five minutes for a match, and at this point I'm not willing to.

If these queue times for killer were a permanent thing I would 100% quit DBD regardless of how much money & time I've put into it. I want fast back to back games that I can spend 2-3 hours sessions playing not 2 games on average every hour.

In my times find a match in online game after 25 min was already very generous (not Dbd). But now modern generation too soft waiting 10-15 min in online games. Be patient and remember could be much worse.

But these are not the olden days of the internet, and DBD is really the only multiplayer only game I play. Part of the reason for that is that I like playing games on my terms. One of my terms is not wasting time just waiting to play.
DBD is a game with a lot of warts, and one to the things that offsets that is that it's easy to just pick up and play.
If my wait time for each match is >/= to the length of the match itself, it ceases to be worth the trouble.

But it isn’t fine though. I’m currently taking a DbD break because the queue times are just not worth it for me right now. It’s around 5 minutes for normal games and 15+ for 2v8 as killer.

Agree 💯

I think there are a few reasons it won't become permanent that don't really get brought up.
1: We're still going to be getting new game modes. That means if this mode was permanent when a new game mode came out we'd have three different pools being drawn from.
2: People talk about numbers at the high point, but it's more important where the game is at the low points. At 3 AM on the less played servers what does the player base look like when split between two different games?
3: I don't see the killer/survivor disparity easing. Killers are enjoying the teamwork aspect, survivors who enjoy the mode talk about its chaotic, quick, and feels different. The reasons are perfectly valid, but things being fun because its just being a change or chaotic don't tend to last as long.
Normal DbD already has more killers than it needs during most hours of the day, 2v8 exacerbates the issue.
And I don't think a 400% BP bonus is viable in the long run.
4: We're still going to get new killers and survivors. BHVR already has massive problems designing things that are balanced and don't break the game, doing that for two different modes would be a much harder ask.
I suspect the mode will be frequently reoccurring, but there seem to be a lot of problems with making it permanent that still need to be worked out.

I get it. What’s fine for some isn’t for others. I don’t mind the wait.

I think it's important to actually understand why the que times were so long. It's not because the player base is split between two modes or that there isn't enough survivors.
On the contrary there is too many killers. There is plenty players playing dbd right now with no shortage whatsoever which includes survivors. There is a surplus of killers in the que right now and each lobby requires two killers plus 8 survivors to start the game. Everyone wants to play killer because it's just that fun to finally have another killer to play with, most who are friends. Even the people who normally play survivors are playing killer.
If this is made a permanent mode, obviously not in the near future of course, then things will equal out on its own so long as the devs make the necessary improvements to each role.

Playerbase is already divided. Always will be. Give players what they want and I see the majority of people liking this game mode

There's not 60 million active players. The announcement was 60 million people have played the game since it started 8 years ago (so includes folks who played it once and never again, and also those with multiple platform accounts).
Player count on Steam has already dropped back down to pre-2v8 levels, and did so within 48 hours of the mode's release (went from 50k to 100k to now back to 50k). So it's more likely that queues would be split, which I think is what we are seeing now (killer queues are apparently long in both normal and 2v8 mode). What the mode looks like in its first week isn't what it would be long term as the novelty wears off even more.
Edit: oh and we just had a free play weekend too, so again there's more people playing than usual and queues are still bad.

Yeah no I'm good on that. I have a life and a job so wait 30 minutes for a match isn't happening. I have so much more I could do with that wasted time or I can play a different game. Sure back when I was a kid and had all the time in the world to waste I didn't care.

I stand by with what Mandy said about it though. She said It wouldn't split the queue times ultimately in the long run either, and that we have more than enough players to play the game and regular matches. I feel like we will be good to go.

Not waiting 25 minutes to play a 15 minute round, gramps. Save the stories of walking to school and back uphill 20 miles for someone else.

I remember her saying that, but it was with regard to earlier modes that only needed 4 survivors and 1 killer. This mode is completely different in that 1 - it gives friends a chance to play killer together, so those that would usually swf are now kwf, and 2 - you need 8 survivors, so the equivalent of two standard games is now required for one 2v8 game.
2 -
No I mean - Mandy literally just said that a day ago specifically talking about 2v8 is what I am referring to.

Well, it's not quite that simple.

I started with the Twins chapter, survivor swf was 10 minutes wait per match minimum

I second this. In the time it takes to play ~3 DbD matches with these current queues, I can play like 10+ MK challenges in The Outlast Trials.
If they make 2v8 permanent and the queue times don’t improve, I will 100% drop DbD.

Third. I enjoy 2v8 as a fun break from regular DBD, but regular DBD is what I'm here for, and now choosing killer in either mode results in a 10-25 minute que time>
If 2v8 becomes the norm, and these killer que times remain this way because of it, I'll drop DBD permanently. If I wanted to play lobby simulator, I'd play TCM3 -
Definitely, current event already shows how bad it will be for the que time
