Killer wait times

Getting kinda tired of the massive queues to play Killer in both modes. All I want to do is complete the new tome challenges. Been in the queue on 1v4 for over 20 mins this morning already. New mode is fun and all but really not digging the waiting times to jump on and play a couple of games. There's no way this mode is can stay in it's current form unless they're okay with the playerbase slowly dwindling away. I'm now at a point of frustration that I'm just closing the game down before a game even pops and it's only been a week.

Two game modes with one taking twice as many players (so essentially 3 modes) splitting the available player base. Of course this is the result.

Maybe, but that's not really the whole picture.

In theory, all of these modes have the same ratio of 1 killer to 4 survivors, and with MMR turned off in 2v8, it shouldn't really matter which queue people are in unless people are also switching roles.

Which is the real problem with 2v8: you have survivors switching to play kwf instead in droves, which is why the ratio is broken in both have modes right now.

Said this would happen all along. Splitting the playerbase like this is a terrible idea that’ll hurt the game more than it helps. Can’t understand why the 2v8 crowd didn’t see this. It was inevitable.

So basically there aren’t enough survivors to mitigate long wait times in either queue. I wonder what this means for the true value of the survivor role in this game. What we mostly see are killer QoL changes made (which are good) while survivors… well, they typically receive very little. Perhaps this will change going forward.

MMR is still used for match making in these game modes. The adjustment to your MMR score is disabled.

Lets not forget that general… shall we say, unwillingness of survivors to make the mode more enjoyable by holding M1.

I only play survivor when killer ques take too long (like now), when I play with friends or when I want to play without headset. Survivor is in a bad spot for long time already in my opinion since the circle of healing nerf.

    This.

2v8 by itself would have no greater effect on queue times than any other game mode unless it was actually more popular than 1v4. Barring that, the only reason you're seeing a difference is because of the 400% incentive. Which is obviously temporary, so there's n no need for all this doomsaying about 2v8 in the long-term.

All that tells then survivor side need changes to make the role more fun.

There should be a system for every special-mode where you only join the lobby, if the queue-times are too long for one side (more than 5 mins or so). You cannot choose a role and then it depends on your statistics in your last let's say 100 games which role you played the most (killer- or surv-main). Depending on this statistics a killer-main has a higher chance to become killer and so on. That would be fair for the players who play killer all the time in the normal mode to be preferred in these special-modes, cause they are killer-mains and no "Just-for-fun-Killers".
