Devs - Feedback on Sadako
Hello there! I know your hands are full. I’ll make this short. Thank you for listening!
A few suggestions.
1) Are we still gonna get the invisibility buff promised in January on Patch 7.5.0?
It’s been bugged since. Currently sitting at 0.82 instead of 1.2. (Screenshot below)
2)VCR Addon - there’s no value in it. It’s purple. It should have at least decent value.
3) Tapes are too free for survivors. It’s too easy to hold onto the cursed video tape. TVs are off for 70seconds. There’s no risk. Shutting the first tv is completely free too.
4) Her stealth 🥷 isn’t very stealthy. Most people just pre run. 🏃
5) Iri videotape is meh 🫤 too much punishment. Not enough reward for it. No power, and even longer cooldown times. It’s a heavy price to pay.

I'm still surprised the intermittency bug is still around, though we have had bigger bugs to deal with lately around the game.
VCR's change was pretty sad. I think it needs to just play the teleport sound to every TV, show the illusion on active TVs and flicker the TV when the TV is off for a second. If not that, then it should remove the aura of TVs if you don't carry a tape, or at least reduce the range.
I'm quite mixed on tapes, since they do stop survivors from being able to use their toolboxes. If they want to use them, they risk a teleport nearby. That said, it only takes 1 of them to disable it if they group on a gen. It's also a decent minigame to waste survivor's time if they have a runner. I think the best way to go about it is to change Pinwheel and Sea-Soaked Cloth to be on whoever holds a tape for x amount of time instead of just near a TV. Or better yet, change Iridescent Tape completely to force survivors holding a tape to have both for 40 seconds after grabbing a tape, that sounds more like an Iridescent to me.
As for her stealth, if they intend to keep the lullaby get rid of the directional audio on it. There's no reason for it to be directional.

One of the weirdest parts of Sadako is how little her power is explained or shown to her. Usually Killers tend to have a lot of information, like where their traps are, when they are set off, what plague level someone is at, etc. I've never fought Sadako as a Survivor, but when my friends finally did, they asked me how she worked, and I had to admit I had no idea.
I knew I could teleport to TVs but that was basically it. I eventually looked it up and realized there is so much that is not explained in in game. Even after reading about it, though, what little I was shown in game failed to really change anything about the match. It wasn't until I read a strategy specifically about triggering Inexorable Stare as fast as possible did I finally get something different to happen.2 -
yeah sadako gets little knowledge in game of what’s going on with her power. However, her power description explains everything well. Just her as a killer she gets very limited info on her power.

Agree with everything. Sadako is actually a cool killer but the developers don't give her enough love. I really hope she will be up on January Killer Tweaks with some Addon and basekit buffs.

To be fair they adjusted her upon release 5.6.0 (Ptb) then again on 7.1.0 and again on 7.5.0 after all the negative backlash, but it was rushed.
She still has some pretty big core issues and addons to address.Is she getting love? Yes. 🙌🏼
Is she complicated to find the right balance? Yes, but I believe the devs will make it right. They’re more talented than what people give them credit for.

I still wish to get her first version with buffs. Like she would be so cool if they made the good changes they did to her first version. (Sorry for repeating this in every Sadako discussion, but that‘s my standard start)

4 is more a problem of the visible heartbeat. I really hope they would remove her lullaby there. Her stealth was so much better before.
5: There are so many ways to fix it. I personally want her first iri tape back, but it might be too strong on this version. The addon would be okey if they made one or more of these changes: Still being able to condemned (through all TVs or around just one TV), no increase cooldown and survivors can‘t interact with TVS.
6: TV- Auras: I add this problem, because it affects her in so many ways negatively. Her tp in chase is almost pointless, TVs to sneak up is almost pointless, she got too much counterplay by making it too easy for survivors to constantly denie her tp and condemned

Sadako is like current freddy. She'll stay bad for 2+ years until she is reworked again. In the mean time, i recommend playing new Dredge. The better Sadako.

This makes me so sad, but yeah. It really feels that way. She doesnt even get killer instinct out of her tvs in addition to the other stuff I mentioned.

My only huge problem with her right now is that grass makes her phasing mindgames unusable; which is present on most of the maps in the game.
Condemned Sadako is an extremely boring mechanic and I wished they focused more on the phasing part of her power, but that is just me. BHVR really seems to like making killers with interesting and fun powers be weak in favor of a more boring part of their kit.

I agree with you on the first part. However, the second part respectfully I dont agree with. Her condemn is what makes her unique. Its one of the biggest parts of her lore too. I would hate to see that the "weakest" part of her kit and right now it only performs well on noobs. Swfs just eat you alive. At least on Sadako 2.0 the balance was even.
Her phasing could be stronger, I agree too, however at least the addons for it make it really good so they probably wont touch it. Specifically talking about Newspaper and Mirror. Reikos watch for demanifest is so bad and so its clump of hair.

Reiko's Watch is really good when there is no grass. Grass literally prevents her phasing from being a mindgame since survivors can just tell which way she is moving at tiles.
Also the phasing is the fun part of her kit. Condemned is not fun to face or play around imo. It is the definition of bad game design.
"Do this or you instantly die lmao." The Condemned is the strongest part about her but it just isn't fun for either side to play around and is useless UNLESS you build around it. I wish Condemned just did something a tad weaker like Exposed/Broken rather than just instant death; and that BHVR made Condemned something that compliments her kit rather than basically define it.
I feel the same way about Cenobite. The chain is a fun tool to play around with, but the box is the strongest part about them and so most players build around spawning in and getting the box as quickly as possible rather than engage in chases (which are the fun part of the game).
I also feel the same way with Unknown. You have a fun tool like UVX, which needs to be mediocre because of how good the teleport is. I'd rather not have the teleport and just have a stronger UVX because there are fun things you can do with it if it wasn't so reactable. At least make a common addon that buffs those weaker parts of these kits at the cost of removing the stronger part.

Reiko's Watch is really good when there is no grass.
I wish this were true. Its broken. Shes suppose to be able to be invisible for 1.2 seconds. Its currently bugged to 0.82 and with reikos 0.94. With these numbers it doesn't even hit where it use to be by default much less the buff they gave her back in January thats still bugged.
As for the other stuff I don't really have much to say on it personally. I don't really play those characters much.

I enjoyed her tp gameplay the most. While I agree condemned is a big part of her, I wish it was more optional again and not the only way to play her like in her first version. Ever since the first rework the tp gameplay always suffered for the condemned gameplay to be stronger.
I can’t say wether Sadako 2 was balanced, but she definitely was the most boring and stupidest way to play a killer. The players who played her (me included) spammed all the time the tp button and ran to survivors to distroy their tapes and repeat, which if you did it right had no real counterplay.

it is ironic because originally, the community popular opinion was that Dredge was the "Better Sadako" and what actually happened was that Sadako was the better dredge, so she got nerfed and now dredge is in fact the better Sadako because condemn mechanic which is the most important part about her kit doesn't work.
So yeah, now i can finally agree with popular opinion of Dredge > better then Sadako with dredge's buffs.
they're unlikely to change her most pinnacle defining lore mechanic any time soon. Just look how long it is taking them to fix freddy. Your definitely going to be waiting long time for her.

In my opinion, the developers had no choice other than to rework her because the first version was way too weak while the second one was way too powerful and a noob / average stomper with a boring but strong playstyle (kinda like Skull Merchant easy to use difficult to counter). It is similar to Skull Merchant that the developers do it because the community is not happy - and this good but also leads into this "we rush it and find something that is okay rather than perfect/good". However, I don't want to imply that the developers are not talented or anything like this. They have the right ideas. Maybe I sounded a bit too harsh but only because when I still see/talk about this bug because it bothers me a lot because it is not like Blights double fatigue that happens sometimes and does not matter that much (still annoying tho). It makes a huge difference, especially when this is Sadako's best - and nearly only - way for mindgames/ antiloop (and this is also limited). If she had the right invisibility basekit, you could do so many cool plays. In general, I like her power design and her skill ceiling, as well as the fact that you need some awareness on a different level.
The current Sadako has the right base to work on. Her condemned is difficult to balance (see first and second version), but the current one feels almost right only the tape part needs to be buffed like you mentioned. Here should be either a downside or a bigger punishment for holding Tapes (the second version had the punishment of hitting survivors with Tapes gave extra two stacks and I think something like this should comeback but maybe when you hook the survivor gets two stacks instead of one so the trade is fair or (this might be better) that the purple Addon becomes basekit and hooking a survivor with a Tape gives every other survivor one extra condemned). TVs turned off by survivors should also have a shorter cooldown to make tapes less free. The VCR Addon could also become basekit and would not even be that good but enables some surpses and good synergies. The lullaby needs to be removed. Playing against a stealth killer gives survivors automatically more awareness, and they look around - and the average player looks around when sitting on a generator). So the lullaby is more of a huge nerf and noob handholding. Some Addons need also a rework, especially the purple ones. The Iri Tape is a funny meme Addon and usable but should not be an iri one. It should be a brown one without the drawback.
I really hope the developers will fix this bug soon and fix the gameplay issues she has.
