Please, Please - Make Hiding Prestige Level Optional!!!!

Hi team, thanks for reading.

First off, I'd be remiss not to add another voice to the pile of "please give us a P100 reward" - whether it be a charm, an outfit, etc…please. It's such a rough grind, it's most importantly a FREE grind (anyone can do it! ANYONE AND EVERYONE! Not everyone can buy cosmetics!), and we deserve a fun celebration at the end of it.

In the interim, you've now taken away the real main joy of reaching prestige 100ing a character: sharing that joy with others! I know some people just do it for themselves and that's cool, but not me. I want to flex. In solo queue, it's super fun to match my P100 Zarina with strangers. In SWFs, it's so satisfying to have everyone matching those red iridescent numbers.

I respect and appreciate you listened to people who wanted to hide said prestige, I think it's great you listened and actioned a response. However, not all players want this, and I'd argue not even the majority want it.

Please make it a toggleable affect like anon mode. Please. I want to share in the P100 joy with others :)

I second this! We should have rewards for the long hard grind that everyone can get with time. It’s a free grind and anyone can make it there. We should also be able to choose if we want to show our prestige or not because that’s one of the things that makes it rewarding for us to show off how much dedication we put into one character during the lobby! -Dechant

I wholeheartedly agree. I am about to p100 Jill and it would be nice to flex my 2nd p100. Please, BHVR.

When they put flexing something up against strengthening matchmaking by reducing lobby shopping & dodging, imo there's no choice there.

And not all of us can even use their Anonymous Mode at all either.

you can still 'flex' at the end game screen. 'Matching' the badge like wut??? Literally invisible throughout the entire match who cares

I don't think people grind for p100 to show off, they just get it because they play someone a lot. The only joy it provides is the bonehead killers who message you telling you 'ez' or mocking your p100 status because they killed you

Even though I fully support the hide prestige change...

I think unlocking a p100 charm for that character only that you could equip on your hook/waist would be a pretty cool compromise.

This achieves what players like the OP want, they get to show their p100 status but it's entirely optional.

Imagine the lobby dodging that would happen if killers could "flex" their prestige before the round starts. As proud as i am of my 100 rebecca, im terrified of playing her because of how eberyone judges high prestige negatively 90% of the time. Being able to toggle my pretige off will simply make me even more of a target as im not only guaranteed to be 100 ill also be hiding something from the other players so they will be just as judgemental as if my prestige werent hidden. I also have a 100 killer and can confirm it feels just as much of a flex to show it off in the end game screen.

I'd argue not even the majority want it.

It's not necessarily about anyone wanting it. BHVR did a test a while back where some people saw prestiges in the lobbies and others didn't. It tested whether there was less lobby dodging when prestiges were hidden. Lobby dodging ruins matches because the matchmaking is turned off to fill the empty spot the person leaves behind as fast as possible.

    I want to flex

I want to share in the P100 joy with others

I have never thought anyone is interested in my prestige for any reason other than how it may reflect my skill level. I keep my prestige low so people don't get their hopes up. I've never cared about anyone else's prestige except when I'm having a slew of bad matches and I see a high prestige and think, "There's no way I want to play survivor with this person." (I know prestige has nothing to do with skill, but anecdotally I have found the high prestige survivors make the most miserable teammates.)

Cosmetics are still shown in the lobby. Prestiges are still shown on the end screen. The killer's prestige has always been limited to the end screen.

This change is good. Whatever small bit of enjoyment some people get from a few moments of "flexing" in the lobby is outweighed by matches actually having proper matchmaking that isn't ruined by someone dodging. DbD isn't a lobby sim; the important part is the gameplay that happens in the matches.

This is actually one of the best ways to let people "show off" if they want to, some sort of cosmetic unlock. It doesn't have any of the icky "you use a privacy feature? you must be hiding something bad!" problems of stuff like optional hidden prestige. It's not perfect as people could still dodge it, but at least then people essentially actively opt into the risk of that happening to them.

I still greatly prefer hidden for all as in my anecdotal experience match quality really takes a nosedive with a few dodges and backfills, but it's the best middle-ground I've seen proposed!

I agree on the milestone rewards.

And about not showing prestige in lobby... it means less targeting and lobby dodging, plus you can see the prestiges after the game.

I think it would be the best idea, if we can decide for ourselves if we wanna show the prestige off or not. People also put on their legacy outfits or other rare skins (hype shirt) to flex so it would be the best to let people decide for themself.

It's already been pointed out that people will take optional hidden Prestige symbols as a warning sign that they're hiding a high Prestige and then dodge accordingly, which defeats the purpose of hiding them in the first place.

Nothing good comes out of showing off your Prestige in the pre-game lobby. All it does is encourage lobby dodging, targeting and tunneling and general sweat from Killers. Prestiges are still shown in the tally screen, so you'll still have your moment in the spotlight.

The only other people who want Prestige levels to be shown are the Killers who go, "I want to see who's P100 so I can dodge them." There have literally been posts like that.

Showing off your prestige isn't a good idea. If you are high prestige, killers will either dodge or play as try hard as possible.

The problem is there is demonstrable evidence that Killers dodge lobbys that contain high prestige players.
Its also been demonstrated that players who have prestige gets targeted more.
Leaving it Optional could leave the problem as it is and then its not really a solution then is it?

Dodge'ed Lobbys increases the wait time for all of us.

This post is me saying explicitly I want to show off my P100 regardless of the consequences. I want to. I want the choice to be able to. Sure I'm tunneled sometimes. I don't care, I want to show it off. That's my point. I don't want that choice taken away.

I just wrote an entire post about how I like showing off my prestige regardless of the consequences. So "nothing good" coming out of it is not true for me. I want the choice.

So the negative to your idea is that there are ######### people who will use any excuse to be asses? Oh no, a toggle of off/on will be the worst thing in the game. Oh deary me.

But you're not the only player in this game. If you enjoy showing off your prestige, good for you. The problem is that it's just not healthy for the game as a whole, and people have already explained why multiple times.

It was explained before by a BHVR rep that lobby dodging worsens matchmaking for everyone. Both sides lobby dodge due to prestige, and making any sort of prestige option visible was shown through A-B testing to increase lobby dodging and therefore matchmaking accuracy and therefore worsening game experience for everyone.

While I totally agree with this reasoning personally, it IS interesting that this still had an effect on matchmaking given that you can check hour counts on steam. Anonymous mode/making a steam profile private being a toggleable option is pretty funny when considering that, but that scenario is a bit different.
