Is this reportable?

I know there is a lot of discussion about taking the game hostage situations with hiding survivors etc and I would like to ask a question regarding that.

I had a game right now on RPD vs a Nemesis. I got chased by the Nemesis down a corridor with a zombie at the end that stood with its back towards me. I wanted to do a play I had seen while watching OTZ once, where I slip behind the zombie and it tries to hit and misses. Problem was the Zombie was still too far in the doorway and blocked it and I couldnt get past it. Nemesis that came behind me, then just stood on the other side of me so that I couldn't get out of the doorway anymore. The zombie meanwhile completely bugged out, constantly being in an attack animation while i was touching its back.

I was then stuck there for the entire match, while the 2 other remaining survs did the last gens, opened the gates and then escaped. In the end I died to the endgame collapse.

Is this hostage taking and therefor reportable? I mean the match still continued normaly with 2 people doing gens and getting out but I was obviously blocked from participating in it. My only way out of this situation would have been to either DC or wait for endgame collapse which I did.

Also dont understand why killers have to do toxic stuff like this without a reason -_-. I just wanna play the game not be stuck behind a zombie with a broken attack animation for 10 minutes.

Yes, this is reportable. Even if the match can end (since there are still Survivors able to repair Gens and start EGC), trapping a Survivor for a few minutes so that they cannot participate in the game is not allowed.

I would personally label it as such, you were unable to continue participation in the match due to someone taking advantage of a bug.

Before they addressed the closed rooms atop of Saloon I had a Pig trap me in there for an entire match. 5 gens right into my death at the endgame collapse.

There still needs to be better definition around what constitutes "holding the game hostage". Maybe I missed it (someone please post if it exists somewhere), but I have never seen the devs clearly define what actions are considered "holding the game hostage" and it seems unfair to have something that subjective be a banable offense. Just make a bullet point list of things that would be included like:

    • Killer body blocking survivor that prevents free movement of survivor for X number of seconds
    • Survivors not progressing generators for X number of minutes
    • Survivors abusing map bugs to be unreachable by killer for X number of seconds
    • Other examples (I think the three above are by far the most common situations) with actual quantifiable definitions so that it's not such a gray area

The devs will never specify length of time because they don't want to give people who are breaking the rules a way to circumvent getting in trouble for it.

Thanks for posting. Until these comments/guidelines are added to the game rules, I don't think it's fair to ban people for "holding the game hostage" because they may have no idea what that means. It's unfair to ban people for something that is mentioned deep in an old forum post somewhere.

I don't see a problem with putting a time limit on the definitions. I would suggest making it 1 minute for body blocking and 5 minutes for not touching generators. I can't think of any examples of how those time limits could be circumvented to avoid getting in trouble for them.

A better solution to the survivors holding game hostage is to add a mechanic that reveals survivors after a certain period of inactivity. There's no good reason to not add this to the game and it's very frustrating that the devs still haven't done it despite being a problem in the game for years and MANY forum posts from frustrated killer players on the topic.
