Whats with all the Sable hate??
I don’t understand why people are hating on Sable, I look at her character and everything about her is perfect for a horror game like DBD. Sable gets great cosmetics and she’s a beautiful survivor.
Is it because survivors run into bad Sable teammates?

People hate on her?

Overexposure, I would guess.

i see a lot of it on social media

To put it mildly, 98% of Sables I've ever seen are god awful at the game. They kill themselves on hook in every second match. It's nothing personal, people just judge by the majority.

Im not looking there. Glad about it tbh…

IMHO, Sable isn't a horror game character, rather an incredibly bland wannabe horror game character. Her only selling point is pretty face and revealing outfits, which Behavior exploits like there is no tomorrow — so any attempts to show her as a deep character or that people main her and buy her outfits because they like her personality are kinda frustrating because, despite having voice lines, Sable has no personality.
If Sable is supposed to be a serious character, genuinely interested in things dark, mystical, and scary to the point it pushed other people away, her designs don't reflect it — I will rather believe she was known as that "hot goth chick" in her hometown rather than a "that creepy goth girl". Her behavior comes off as demonstrative and her entire character feels off-putting (no, Sable, people don't avoid you because of how you dress or what kind of movies you like, they avoid you because you're obnoxious about it and probably try to make everything about yourself).
Even her lines at the campfire are cringe-inducing. It's some Marvel levels of "he is right behind me, isn't he" writing, where the character has to be witty and have a sassy remark regardless of the situation.
If Sable is supposed to be corny and cringe, pretending to like horror stuff until she is thrown into real horror — once again, her perks don't show that. Her perks imply she has actual connection to darkness and her fascination is genuine, and that she probably shares Haddie's abilities, but all we get from her bio is that she liked horror movies, hanged out around cemetries and liked spooky stories, and gory movies — oh, and hated her parents having fun because ohmagad screw those preppy adults. That makes her sound like one of those "I'm not like other girls" gals who would wear corsets and make sexy photos with fake blood and vampire teeth, but would vomit and/or faint if they're assigned to dissect a dead frog in class.
What I mean to say by that, Sable's design is very lazy and makes no sense, but since she is hot, it doesn't matter anyways — she already brough Behavior more cash than more detailed and deeply written survivors who don't look as good in mini skirts and bikini tops.
EDIT. Oh, and one more thing. I hate Behavior trying to make the "Sable and Mikaela are BFFs" happen because not only they kinda broke their own lore with the timeline, but also because of this line showing Sable's thoughts on Mikaela's interest in spooky stuff:
She [Mikaela] flirted with the dark side, but she didn’t live it. Not like Sable. The dark side made sense to Sable, and she revelled in it.
Just a reminder, Mikaela grew to love horror stories and mystical things after her father died when she was sixteen leaving her depressed and hurting. She wasn't "flirting with the dark side", she found an outlet and it helped her cope. But oh no, our macabre queen Sable here knows true pain and darkness because her mom got mad at her once when she dyed her hair purple. Yeah, this girl is supposed to be Mikaela's best friend from third grade.

She gets skins every patch while being new. Other older characters get way less.

Bad lore, overexposure and the famous "getting preferential treatment when it comes to skins compared to characters that get less because Behavior gives them less because they are less popular cycle."

I feel like most people either hate sable or are major horn dogs
Such is life 😔

She seems to be getting The Feng Treatment where it's not so much Feng/Sable that they hate but that BHVR just abandons any character that they can't immediately sell to a bunch of horny teenagers. Sable just gets the current major batch of hate as she's the current face of that trend.

Might be the new Meg head.

It's not sabel I hate tbh. Its's her outfits. I really stylish/Formal clothing outfits for characters but sabel just has that stereotypical goth girl theme that looks kinda hideous to me.

For your own sake, leave it and never look back....

This is so true. Every Sable I've played With/against as killer and survivor have been soo bad it's actually hilarious

I would say Feng is the damn queen of outfits. No one else gets as many outfits as she does. Mikaela is good second.
I like Sable i even play her. Just because new players might be more drawn to beautiful female character doesnt make the character herself bad. I'm more scared of Claudette and Feng players than any Sable. So far most Sables ive seen are ok. Sure some have been bad, but there are many bad Steves, Yuis and Davids out there too. People just like to hate i guess. I will continue playing my Meg, Sable and Ada keep on hating you all!

Many people gravitate towards her especially with the goth mommy stereotype. 💀 A lot of people main Sable, Mikaela, and Feng because they get so many outfits in the game.

the hate is mostly a terminally online twitter user thing

Okay, I have heard nothing of this.

I wasn't even aware of that being a thing..
All of the characters are hated. It's all dependable on the time and place; The place being the present match for the player, the time being the moment when the player gets downed, hooked, sacrificed.. Or makes a mistake. People do rarely treat this game casually, so tonsa more hate is going together with that mindset.
Oh, and as a side note-
People don't read the characters' lores. Only fans or those who're genuinely curious do, but most don't.. So even if the character's design fails at that, they're not gonna know.
That's at least as far as I know. It'd be nice to be proven wrong, because that'd restore a bita faith in the current gaming communities.I will keep on playing Sable, Feng, Mikaela.. Whomever I see as fit.. Though I admit, for some reason my performances are the worse the fancier outfit I choose. From time to time.
And it's not like I'm purposefully throwing or not playing well.. It's just that I don't play as frequently as I have used to, and so my performances are below average, but that's not something one would expect from a veteran like me with about 2k hours, right?0 -
She has the unenviable issue that Skull Merchant has - poorly explained lore, people think she's cringe, and her playerbase kinda has a reputation of sucking.
I am not bad at Survivor and still get abused as Sable so badly, I question why I even play her. :(

Where do we start?
- Lore that reads like a 14-year-old wrote it (and that's being generous) that manages to both conflict with previously established lore (though I honestly don't think Sable not being mentioned in Mikaela's lore is a big deal like some people) AND paints her as an incredibly shallow human being. There was so much potential with a character who willingly entered the Realms and only realized her mistake after realizing what she ACTUALLY got herself into, but this wasn't it.
- Her design is clearly based around "hot goth chick" rather than anything meaningful (I'm not saying that's bad, in fact I actually really like her base design, but it is a very shallow reason to create a character). She wasn't made to be a cool character. She was made to appeal to horny teens and basement trolls.
- She's gotten two store skins (one of which is basically nude, but for some reason is okay because it's a swimsuit), a rift skin with a Deep Rift variant and is practically guaranteed to win one of the Design Contest slots (most of which were very erotic in design) in the 6 months since her release. That's 4 skins. For reference, Haddie has received 7 skins, 1 Deep Rift Variant, and 3 shirts TOTAL in the 2 YEARS, 3 MONTHS since her release.
- You can't escape her. She's in nearly every lobby these days. People want to see other Survivors, not a 4-man group of nearly naked goth chicks, but that's all they get.
- If you try using her main draw perk (Weaving Spiders), there's probably a 85% chance that your team is going to kill you for throwing. And her other perks really aren't anything to write home about.
- A personal one for me, she has quite possibly the most IRRITATING screams in the game. I mean, maybe this is just an extension of me slowly getting more and more overwhelmed by sounds that never used to bother me to the point that I can barely function in settings that I used to enjoy that's been happening for the past year or so, but I can't stand her voice.
I'm sure there's more reasons, but these are the ones that come to mind for me. Whether I think they're valid or not (which I think 1, 2 & 6 are), people dislike her for a lot of things. I wouldn't let that discourage you though. If you like a character that I personally see as a waste of potential cash cow, then all the power to you. No one likes all of the same things and that's what makes us individuals.
She is a complete waste of potential though.

People on social media have become addicted to outrage. They look for stuff to be mad about. I've seen a bit of what you mention and the hate really seemed to kick up when she got that bikini cosmetic option. People were big mad about it, it was weird. In my experience Alan Wakes are the worst team mates, not Sables. Sable is popular so it's easy to feel like she's played by the bad players - most players are average at this game, and when you see Sable alot of course you're gonna see a number of bad ones. I'll add that I rarely play Sable, just in case anyone thinks I have a horse in this race lol

Lore that reads like a 14-year-old wrote it (and that's being generous) that manages to both conflict with previously established lore (though I honestly don't think Sable not being mentioned in Mikaela's lore is a big deal like some people) A
Sable not being mentioned in Mikaela's lore is fine, IMHO — Mikaela was mentioned to have several friends who helped her through her worst times and Sable could have easily been one of them.
What sucks is how Sable perceives Mikaela — in Sable's lore, it feels like Mikaela did a lot of effort to help Sable and make her feel accepted, while Sable couldn't be bothered with understanding Mikaela's reasons for her interests (despite knowing her for years and supposedly being aware of Mikaela's loss).
Also, in Mikaela's lore, Mikaela was experiencing nightmares and hallucinations that affected her everyday life and work. You'd think that Sable would notice her only best friend looking exhausted, nervous, and drained, but she is oblivious to all of that right until Mikaela is taken. So, either they were only getting together when Sable needed something from Mikaela (which is doubtful given that they were supposed to work at the same place and see each other daily) or that Sable is that self-absorbed she ignored Mikaela looking like hell and skipping her shift. Heck, she even makes Mikaela's vanishing all about herself — "Oh no, it probably happened because I told Mikaela about the Unknown. She must have dropped her totally boring and lame project to work on my much cooler idea" (even though, logically, the Unknown would have taken Sable first since she was the one who started talking about it).
Plus, there could have been a good hint at Sable's abilities if she sensed that something was hovering over Mikaela, maybe even caught a glimpse of dark tendrils around her and grew worried because something was happening to her best friend — all while Mikaela was growing distant and refused to tell her what was happening (because she didn't want Sable to disappear like Julian). There could have been a good moment for showing Sable's perspective — or even showing her darkness senses tingling once again, right before Mikaela disappeared. Maybe she was the only one to understand that the black fog wasn't part of the show, so she screamed for Mikaela and started elbowing her way the stage, but was too late. There is a missed opportunity on top of a missed opportunity to actually show them as friends and highlight Sable's potential mystic abilities.
I know this looks like nitpicking, but every survivor comes with a lengthy bio attached to them for a reason — and if Behavior wasn't interested in developing and expanding their DbD lore, there wouldn't be The Casting of Frank Stone.

I only hate her playerbase.
