Why don't I see DS more?

Killers learned to play around the buff it just got by simply tunnelling less, or by powering through and not caring and tunnelling anyway. Or they started to slug. Me, I just never tunnelled to start with, only if I absolutely critically needed the pressure and only when it's clear I need to force the snowball. Not from the word go like you'd need with DS. Even if I do tunnel? I rarely see a DS, as I "soft tunnel" instead by leveraging Survivor altruism against them when near a hook, not by forcibly hitting the same person over and over.

Hey, you got your wish! Killers not tunnelling you off the hook. :)

I-Isn't that the whole point? It's insurance. It's there in case you need it, while also serving as a deterrent for killers to tunnel.

You misunderstood the point entirely. Adam unhooks with Deli while Trapper is chasing Meg. Adam runs to Meg and Trapper, and starts bodyblocking/tanking hits because he is perfectly fine; he still has his anti tunnel defenses that allow him to play aggressively and help his team.

THAT is aggressive use of anti tunnel perks.

Because DS is simply too weak. You can use it and you will be down a few seconds after that. No point in bringing it. Even when it was at 5 seconds (before they nerfed it to 4), it was not really used that much, despite them reverting the Nerf which was done in 6.1.0.

It is simply just the case that 5 seconds nowadays are not the same as 5 seconds back then. Now Killers are far stronger than a few years ago - not only the Killers themselves are stronger (we got a lot of really solid Killer releases over the past few months and years), but Maps are way weaker, so hitting a DS does not result in 3,7 seconds of distance + a decent chase anymore, it results in 2,7 seconds of distance followed by a mediocre at best chase.

    Ds prevents killers from tunneling

    Killers stop tunneling

    Survivors unequip the perk

    Killers tunnel again

I whish my SoloQ teamates equipped the perk instead of dying in 2 seconds after unhook and killing themselves on hook.

Of course, anti tunnel is indeed there for insurance. In this scenario you describe what is preventing me from hitting Adam and continuing with my chase on Meg? If i know Adam was just unhooked and hasn't healed or touched a gen then of course he has anti-tunnel perks

You're missing the point. You can down Adam, but you can't really capitalize on it outside of leaving him on the floor. Meanwhile, the entire time, Meg is running away, possibly finding a strong pallet or window, or even just w-keying--- either way, the chase has been lengthened.

Yes, you can slug Adam and someone will eventually have to pick him up. That's why DS-UB used to be meta and is still extremely strong.

Simple, Survivors can't use DS as a weapon now.

I mean this is a survivor missplay imo. Adam comes over for the bodyblock while I'm chasing meg, he takes two hits and is slugged, i now continue my chase with meg. This scenario now means someone has to come save Adam. In doing so I now have THREE survivors not on gens. Had Adam unhooked himself with deliverance and run straight to a gen three survivors would all be doing gens. Herein lies the problem with anti-tunnel perks. If the survivor wants to get value out of them from a killer that doesn't tunnel, it forces them to play into the killers hand

If adam also has UB, then I still have two survivors off of gens, when Adam could've run to a gen and i would be facing three survivors on gens again

because now it works as an anti tunnel perk only, before the nerf it made you invulnerable for a minute.

I was running DS until I realized the 4 second stun doesn’t do anything in most cases. Off the Record is just a better perk because it usually forces the killer to not tunnel, or to waste even more time by trying to track someone with 80 seconds of endurance and stealth.

Not sure why OTR Unbreakable isn’t hard locked to survivors though, killers currently either tunnel or slug every game and because there’s no anti tunnel to discourage it, it’s an easy win for the tunneler.f

(side note but how do you leave comments on here? I only see a prompt to quote people, unless that is commenting?)

Stealth or info is just better for anti tunnel in my humble opinion.

DS is nice as an extra resource to play with, much like a pallet but the existence of a resource doesn't mean it will get value.

Ds guarantees 4 seconds+ the extra chase which is nice, but I'd rather just not go down in the first place by using something like Scene Partner, Troubleshooter or Object.

DS gives the killer agency by choosing to play around DS and slug you. I say it's better to not punish this behavior but rather to remove the killers agency by not giving them the choice at all.

Let's not forget the nerf where if you miss the skill check, you no longer have the perk anymore.

Old DS would allow you to pocket it for your next to last hook stage if you missed the first difficult skill check. Most people swapped DS out for more viable perks that give more value.

    That... is not true.

If you missed old (pre-6.1.0) DS, you lost it. Period. If you gave an input, you lost it.

The only way to save is/was not pressing the button. I know this because I tested the perk when I was still new.

I encourage you to look at old gameplay because back then you could have definitely used OLD DS the second time if you missed the first skill check. 😊

I should know given that I've been playing the game since 2019/2020.

If that's indeed how it always worked because I'm not a DS user, DS is a fundamentally weak perk by consuming it you missed the first skill check. 💀

There is really no better antitunnel than knowing how to loop decently well. I don't even run chase perks but I know mindgames and tiles well, and I can make Killers drop chase easily.

I don't run Lithe, WoO, etc. I run a very limited selection of endurance perks, rarely OTR if I am being tunnelled a lot or something. And Killers usually leave me. Why? Because I know what I am doing.

I used the perk during that time. I don't need footage. I know you lost the perk if you tried to hit it but missed it—you only saved it if you didn't press the button.

It's just not that good at being anti-tunnel tbh (i wasnt even trying to tunnel she just happened to be there)

Yeah, I probably was thinking back to the old days where I would save the DS for my third hook and hit it then.

I'm surprised that you're harshly penalized for missing the skill check, especially with how badly optimized last gen consoles are along with lag and latency when you can just use Off The Record that works on both hook stages.

My bad for misremembering on the perk and this talk informed me on the perk a little.
