Regarding Unknown Changes in the Upcoming PTB
- [NEW] HUD update to display Teleport cooldown & Hallucination spawn time.
This is a great change as it will help both new and old players feel more comfortable with his kit as well as be able to plan macro decisions a bit better. Having counted cooldowns on powers and perks for both killers and survivors can help newer players immensely.
- [CHANGE] Movement speed now decreases sooner when charging your Power.
Context: "Tapping the Power button can postpone a Hallucination from spawning, but to a Survivor it appears as if you’re about to launch UVX. This forces Survivors to constantly dodge and lose distance without slowing down the Killer. We have reduced the window before the Killer slows down while charging their Power. This will make it harder to tap the Power button without slowing down while focusing on a chase."
The context added to the change lacks key information about the situation in which the tapping of the power button is useful while in chase? The distance between the survivor and killer, line of sight blockers as well as the current state of the survivor (healthy/injured), is he weakened (precentage of stare off), nearby tiles etc are all things that keep it interesting and challenging for the survivor and provide a clearer picture of the devs vision for this Unknown change.
I have to admit I never used this strategy in chase and I cannot see how it benefits the Unknown in chase since as is the current slowdown on the live build causes you to lose considerable distance but my playstyle revolves around sniping and predicting rather than zoning.
While zoning is optimal I feel it is way less satisfying than using UVX which is what keeps Unknown so unique and fun.
Survivors should always try to turn to ol' reliable SHIFT+W tech when being aimed at by the Unknown and strafe when the projectile is launched.
This movement speed decrease punishes the Unknown when engaging in more ambitious and skilled mechanical play (sniping) which is already hard countered by the SHIFT+W tech while remaining out of Unknown's LOS.
I feel as though the best solution for the problem mentioned above is proper animation of the charge up and release of the UVX as well as accompanying sound effects all of which will help newer survivors learn and react to Unknown properly without nerfing his already weak ability to threaten survivors in mid to long ranges.
- [CHANGE] Increased teleport recovery speed by 15%.
- [CHANGE] Adjustments to Blurry Photo and Vanishing Box Add-Ons.
Context: "We noticed that the Blurry Photo Add-On is a fan-favourite, so we have incorporated part of its effect into the basekit and toned it down to compensate. This will allow more freedom to experiment with other Add-Ons without missing out. We have also toned down the Vanishing Box Add-On which was on the stronger side, by adding a tradeoff increase to Hallucination spawn time."
Blurry Photo dominates addon pickrate due to the fact that it allows the Unknown to use his entire kit while in chase around most loops, without it hallucinations are almost always strictly for map mobility and general macro. When looking at the current live basekit values for regaining control and speed of your character it is a flat 300 miliseconds of Unknown being completely immobile and unable to do any action (m1/m2/vault/pickup/open locker) then his speed slowly ramps up over 1.7 seconds back to normal. Blurry Photo halves the duration of the ramp up time to 850 miliseconds before the killer is back to 115%. The PTB change will make it so base kit ramp up time is 1.445 seconds.
Unless Blurry Photo becomes base kit and gets repurposed people will keep using it for the simple reason that the rest of his addon aresnal is either niche or very inconsistant to confirm value from.
Vanishing Box is an addon that loses a lot of value after the first gen pops (unless the person to complete the gen was already weakened) survivors will attempt to have people who are already weakened be the ones to finish gen.
When a weakened survivor finishes a gen the duration is not reset so if he 99% his stare down the addon is almost completely countered. Same goes for if an already weakened survivor interacts with a hallucination but does not finish the interaction, the stare down timer remains unchanged.
Nerfing addons that make Unknown feel whole won't make people choose other addons, it will make them stop playing Unknown.
- [CHANGE] Improved visual and audio feedback when using UVX.
Context: "Lastly, we’ve improved the VFX and SFX when using UVX (that’s a lot of X’s). This doesn’t affect balance, but will make it clearer to newer Unknown players that hitting Survivors with the blast is how you apply Weakened and deal damage, not with airborne hits."
Not the target audience of this change but this makes very curious.

The new PTB build confirmed you massacred Unknown, instead of making other addons more appealing you destroyed the addons that make him feel good to play. Changes literally nobody asked for.
Unnecessary changes for the sake of changes.
I am going through parallel universes right now to find who asked.0
